We came to truly appreciate Suna's long-term approach -- she believes in a real relationship with her clients, which has been repeatedly demonstrated since our son's sitting. There were no surprises at any point in the process. Suna went over pricing during the initial phone call, again in our first meeting with her, and then once more when we previewed the photos. She walked us through all the various ways we would be able to purchase photos from her studio, including showing us high-quality samples of each. We left that consultation meeting with a printed price list, which enabled us to plan how we could buy the images we needed at a cost we could afford. We view these images as an investment, both in our son's music career, and as family heirlooms that will be passed along for years to come. Suna's preparation for the sitting was first-rate. It started in that first phone call, and carried over into the consultation. She took the time to understand who our son was, and how she could photograph him. She interviewed us parents, looked at our attempts to photograph him, and reviewed comparison photos we'd found on the Internet. She even watched videos of him performing before the sitting. The result surpassed our expectations. Suna didn't just get a good-looking photograph, she showed his love for music and the instrument he plays. It was if she'd peeked into his rehearsal room and captured a private moment. She handled the lighting challenge presented by his big, reflective instrument with a master's touch. One area of disappointment: We're in the planning stages of another portrait, but our family's schedule has made it difficult. We're disappointed we haven't made it back to Suna's studio...yet.

Given that his eloquence didn't quite match the expression on his face, I thought I'd take over. Lisa did a boudoir photo shoot with me (the photos were a surprise for my husband's birthday). I wanted to write a review because I asked her not to put the photos up on her blog--though I loved them, I wanted to let the pictures remain private to us. However, my experience was absolutely phenomenal. Lisa worked with me for pricing; not only was she one of the only photographers I looked at who included all the photos taken as part of the deliverables included in the original fee (i.e. I don't have to buy photos from her because I will have digital copies of all of them with reprinting rights), but she also was just fine with doing the shoot at a friend of mine's apartment and having another friend do my make-up. Before the shoot, I expressed my concerns about my own body image and fear of not looking "good enough," and Lisa reassured me that it would truly be a fun experience--and it was! When you look at the photos she took, it's hard to believe that Lisa is so young, that she came to the apartment with only a backpack of supplies, and that she somehow managed to make me look like a model! The shots are so diverse--in some, she captured my actual genuine laugh or smile, while in others she found my inner seductress--but every single one is both classy and sexy. My husband is in awe and wants to "shout from the rooftops how hot my wife is"--and I have even been proudly showing them to close friends (which I never thought I'd do!). I cannot recommend Lisa enough--if you're worried about how you might look or feel during a boudoir shoot, have no fears! I was so excited she was available for our Sept 2013 wedding and could not wait to meet her. At our initial meeting, we had a lot of fun getting to know it each other and both my husband and I felt comfortable with her right away. This comfort continued into our engagement photo session, which we did in Old Town Alexandria. Lisa had fantastic suggestions on where to go and made ordinary scenery and streets come to life and compliment us. On our wedding day, I had no worries or stress related to the photography, I knew with Lisa's talent and eye in combination with her dedication and passion our photos would be beautiful. She was professional, friendly, and her photos were the best pictures of us I've ever seen. Christine clearly has technical know-how and a creative eye. I must start saying that this is the first negative review that I've ever wrote in my entire life…read morebecause I'm not the kind of person that likes to risk other's people job and business but since the photographer Christine Eckstein did everything in her hands to make my life miserable during the time she provided her services, I'm writing about my awful experience so that other brides won't suffer and be dissapoited the way I am. Sadly, you will never truly know how painful, stressful, consuming and frustrating has been working  with her but I'm going to try to summarize the reasons why I'm so unhappy with her work and how dreadful my experience has been: 1. She always had a "no" or a "but" to my requests, arguing with me all the time and saying that she has her own way of doing things. It was very clear for me from the beginning that her ego wasn't going to let me get to her and make her listen to what I wanted and expected from her services.   2. I bought so many props that don't even appear on the pictures because of the angles in which she took them and because she never told us that we where blocking them most of the time. 3. In most of the pictures she took pictures from my back or of my face covered by my hair while my husband's face is the main focus, making me look like some random woman.   4. She didn't edit most of the pictures and the ones that she did was obvious that she doesn't know anything at all about editing.   5. She doesn't have imagination and creativity. She took all the pictures from the same angles, she is not willing to walk around and look for different perspectives. All of my pictures from the ceremony were taken from the back and showing our backs. 6. She takes hundreds of pictures and sends you just a few because according to her she didn't like them. A wedding is a once in a lifetime event and now I would never ever have all the pictures I wanted to have from that day. 7. I gave her a list with all the objects that I wanted her to photograph and she didn't follow it. 8. There are pictures where our eyes are nearly closed. Making us look drunk or in drugs. I really doubt that that was the only or the best take that she shoot at those particular moments, but she chose to send them anyway instead of sending her best shots. Understand that I'm not happy or feel any kind of pleasure writing this review but she was wasting my money from the beginning for not being respectful, profesional or faithful to my requests. Like I said before, a wedding is a once in a lifetime event and no bride should be stressed, disapointed or sad on her wedding day due to a mediocre photographer.  Christine Eckstein it's just a little girl playing with a fancy camera.
