Ramsey is a great guy! I had some questions about getting a PCC and he provided some very valuable insight, was generous with his time and expertise! This is definitely my go to range and my go to spot for anything firearm related! read more

I really hate to do this, but... I've been an intermittent member of DCF since it was Whistling Pines, and I'm sorry to say, I've seen a steady decline in service ever since. It appears they have an issue with high turnover. Every time I go in I see a different person behind the counter. Here are my experiences over the past few months. In May, I used their FFL service after making an online purchase. The retailer contacted me a couple of days after the sale and informed me my order was in limbo because nobody at DCF would get back to her. I had to call DCF to prod them to get back to the online merchant so they could complete the transaction. Then, one morning when I got confirmation the order was delivered to DCF, I called about coming in to fill out the background forms. I got attitude and was told they'd "get to it" - which they didn't. I never got a call, so I just went in the next day. By the time all was said and done, it was an extra WEEK of waiting because of DCF. A month ago I called DCF West to place an order from Sig Sauer and was told the (rather expensive) item I wanted was unavailable. Well, I called Sig and learned otherwise. The item was available to order. They told me to call DCF back and let them know, which I did. When I spoke with DCF regarding their mistake, I was tersely informed that if the item didn't come in by August 1, I'd HAVE to buy it and take whatever requisite classes were mandated by the state. I didn't like the employee's tone of voice, so I went to Scheels and spent my money there. This past weekend, I went to DCF's indoor rifle range to zero two rifles. I've spent time on military, police, and private gun ranges for over 50 years. I know the rules. I get it. One screw up is all it takes. I expect rigid adherence to the laws of firearms, constant monitoring of the firing line, and treat whatever the range master says as the word of the Almighty. So, what's the problem? While zero-ing one of the aforementioned rifles, I shifted the bench out of the way to make an offhand (standing) shot. I was quickly TOLD offhand firing is prohibited on the rifle range. Good enough. Thinking I'd somehow made an error in judgement, I went and looked for anything that would have indicated offhand firing was not allowed. Y'know something like A SIGN. There were none. So, in sum. Their range has rules you have to break to learn about. Their sales department doesn't want to sell you guns, and their FFL is slow and their employees indifferent. Yeah, I'm out. read more

Definitely not a place to go if your not a member. You can't reserve a lane and they will kick you off for members with no refund. Seems like a bad business model. The guy was pushy on the membership without even getting to see the range and then your stuck on it for 6 months if you do sign up and don't like it. read more

The slow deterioration of what used to be an amazing range is truly saddening. The middle and upper management seem to not realize this which is the worst part. To start off, you can barely get anyone on the phone and when you do you're put on hold. I sat for over 25 minutes without getting anyone. Hire some help! Next, I finally find out that my purchase has came in so I go down to try it out in the range while I wait, this is the only reason I use them. I was informed today that's no longer allowed under policy. Explain to me why I can't use something that I paid for with a non refundable payment! It was shipped in so how does this even remotely affect them? Who the heck knows. Hey management, you just removed the only reason why I would want to use your extremely slow system for a transfer! Nice job!! Lastly, the overall range. Lead sleds that are barely and I mean BARELY functional. Prices on anything in that store that are easily 20-50% higher than any one else in town. Lanes that are down constantly. It sucks to say cause I really love this place but take your business elsewhere. read more

Since September 2025 to this date, November 2025, management at DCF has made the decision NOT to provide heat in the rifle range. Temperatures in the range have generally hovered from 44 to 55 degrees. Too cold for comfort! As we get into the colder months, shooting in the rifle range will become intolerable, and it seems that the management couldn't care less. Magnums gain! DCF's loss! read more

Do not trust this business. I purchased a gun in cash for about $600, my first gun purchase ever. I kept getting denied on the background check and had to have my gun held for months while I figured out why I kept getting denied. I called checking up on my purchase and was assured that my gun would be safe in holding. However I when I went back they told me I was refunded. I explained I was never refunded and the manager Matt was able to bring up my receipt and the alleged refund. He was helpful at first and said he would look into it. Since then I've emailed and called with no response, I even went in and waited hours when I eventually ran out of time and had to go. I'm now out $600 and the fact it's from a business that deals with something so controlled is disturbing. I feel pretty helpless in this matter and taken advantage of. So my advice is don't trust this business, they will not help you if something goes wrong. read more

I came here a few months ago, for "Bang for the Bell," celebrating, supporting , and honoring U.S. Military Veterans, like my dad & granddad, with the Honor Bell Foundation. Unfortunately there was a miscommunication by the organizer on timing, and thus I arrived from Denver after the event was finished, but that gave me an opportunity to meet and chat with Duncan, who was very friendly. I now consider this a sister gun club and practice shooting range to Centennial Gun Club here in Denver. read more

So glad we came here and met Alex. He was knowledgeable and spent a great deal of time with us. Worked with our budget and went out of his way to accommodate our particular situation. It's so uncommon these days to be so well taken care of, we really felt appreciated. We will absolutely returning for future purchases. Thank you Alex! (And everyone else who helped us) read more

This is a members only shooting club. I was able to tag along with a friend and used the rifle and handgun range. The range was very clean and spacious. We didn't have an issue getting on a lane, signing in, paying, or shooting. All the lanes seemed to be working well too. Only Downside is that they have the handgun and rifle ranges separate so you have to go from one range to another if you're shooting both. Also, this location doesn't let you fire shotgun but their East location does. read more

I've been an active member of DCF West since they bought the Range from Whispering Pines. Unfortunately, it has mostly gone downhill from what it was prior to the new owners. The personnel who work the counters are generally helpful, and do their best, however, they can only do so much. Example: for the last two months, there has been NO HEAT in the rifle range. During October and November, temperatures at the indoor rifle range has hovered from 44 to 60 degrees. (measured with a Kestrel!) Too cold for comfort! Myself and others have brought this to the attention of the Staff, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. It's my suspicion that "upper management" simply doesn't care, and wants to save money on utilities. It may prove to be short sightedness, if enough members end up at Magnum Shooting Center as a result. Other irritants are poor lighting over the targets; target control systems failing; shot out target backings not replaced when needed; waste baskets not being emptied; broken equipment (shooting stools, table) not being maintained, repaired or replaced. There seems to be an excessive turnover of personnel that work at DCF. Not unusual to see new faces every other time you show up to shoot. My guess is that most, if not all of these problems lie at the foot of "upper management". Sorry I can't have better things to say. read more

I visited Colorado Springs from England to see friends and took a day to go shooting at the Peace Palace Point location. The team really looked after me - Andrew TRACIAK in particular was fantastic and made the whole experience a real treat. I left in a high for quite some time, highly recommend, thank you . read more

I recently attended a self defense and home defense class at this place, which was very good. I had never been to this place and was surprised how big it is. There is a store in the front and classrooms and a range in the back. Super friendly staff, acknowledging people right away when you come in and asking if you need assistance. Insane variety of firearms Very impressed. read more

A terrific experience from start to finish. Tran helped me trade out of an older piece and into my new edc. He was extremely patient and knew exactly what I was looking for. The ranges and rentals available have me coming back every week. read more

The best gun store in the Springs!!! If you want to take firearms training seriously, ask for Andy Tran at DCF West, he conducts tactical Tuesdays. He teaches all levels and will for sure get you the proper training that suits you. He also is a great salesman, selling me my first suppressor! With his help, the transaction went smoothly! read more

Stay far far away! We were members at Whistling Pines since the first day they opened. Whistling Pines was member only and had a country club feeling. The prices reflected the amount paid in the membership each year, and you were never worried about the person shooting in the lane next to you having some sort of mishap. Along comes DCF... When DCF purchased Whistling Pines the quality of customer service instantly went away. The prices almost doubled, and the member is treated like any public shooter. Every time we go shoot, there is a worry that the person next to you might accidentally shoot you or someone at the range. The first time I tried to get a new part on a firearm installed, I was told about 1 week to get it done. After 3 weeks I called to check in, and we told directly by the gunsmith "tell me who told you it would take 1 week and I will have it done today. Otherwise you're waiting another 3 weeks". After raising this with the staff no one cared. It was not even reported to management. I even called the Castle Rock location to let them know what happened and never got any response. Just recently my membership card was not returned to me after shooting, a common occurrence at Whistling Pines, and the next time they would kindly just give your card back. I went to shoot at DCF West and said my card was not returned last time, and the employee working instantly got upset and accused me of forgetting it. She asked for the name on my card and then threw the container of lost cards on the counter. I was then told "get your card and get out". Both my shooting buddy and I were shocked and asked for clarification, and all the said was "get out". We asked to speak to the manger and she responded "you're looking at her. Get your card and get out". This was NEVER the way I was treated at Whistling Pines for over 15 years. We drove all the way across town to the other location just to be confronted by the General Manager for how we were "kicked out" of the location. Never would I have thought that Whistling Pines would have sold out to such a horribly managed company. They overcharge, don't care about their members, and have lost the way Whistling Pines created a country club experience. Whistling Pines members use to receive a few free guest passes each year that never expired, valued at about $10 each. DCF no longer honors them. They "only bought the buildings and the inventory. Not Whistling Pines". DCF employees now work on commission, and are focused more on selling products than checking in a member who just wants to shoot at the range. They have also packed so much inventory into the store that it feels like they only want you to purchase their products. Whistling Pines excelled at making the range their competitive advantage, and now DCF has no competitive advantage. Magnum has better ranges and classes, Scheels has better prices, and Specialty Sports has better selection. If you only get one thing away from this review - just know - that EVERY single whistling Pines employee quit... every single person (*except Mel and she is the only reason I will work with DCF. she is actually a great help). When you acquire a brand with two locations, and EVERY single employee leaves... you have a problem. I hope every Whistling Pine member reading this leaves too, you deserve better. read more

So far my husband and I love having a membership at this club. *You can rent almost any gun they have in the case which is great to be able to try so many out. *They have special ladies nights and ladies classes. *The people who work there are super duper nice and knowledgable. *Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. *Comfy leather couches and deck area. *The targets are all mechanical/computerized and you can do fun things with them. *Bring your own ammo or buy theirs. *They have tons of classes and leagues too. read more

A well maintained range. Separate ranges for rifles and pistols. Knowledgeable and amiable staff. I do believe they have a couple of locations. They have a small collections of weapons you can rent. Would definitely return when I'm visiting the area again read more

DCF Guns West - Range façade - Gun/Rifle Ranges Near Me - Colorado Springs, Colorado
