My favorite DC farmers' market and so glad it survived the pandemic. There's an impressive diverse…read moreselection of 10-15 vendors with a few new rotating vendors each week. The market truly delivers on a unique culinary experience with wood-fired pizza, empanadas, fresh donuts, smoothies, burritos, hot breakfast dishes, ethnic cuisines, vegan, and hearty meat dishes.- The market is conveniently located right off the Smithsonian metro station at the corner of 12th and Independence and open on Fridays at 9am to 2pm from May - Oct. There are some covered picnic tables under the tents and a really beautiful People's Garden with gorgeous flowers. I've been going to this market solo for 10 years and brought my hubby and newborn this fall! Timber Pizza - Kudos to being the longest vendor for over 10+ years at this market and hands-down my favorite! The wood-fired pizza with a pillowy crust is epic! I can't count on how many fingers and toes I've had the pizza at this market. The simple "Cheese Please" pizza with tomato sauce and the pesto-based "Green Monster" pizza with zucchini, kale, and feta cheese are bursting with flavor with a nice pillowy crust. I even order an extra pizza to take home! Call Your Mother - Scrumptious ginormous bagels. The Everything and Jalapeno Cheddar bagels are my favorite. Restaurant Piquin - The fresh squeezed OJ made with 7 oranges was refreshing! The aroma of fresh veggies grilled to perfection and watching in awe how a gigantic burrito get stuffed to the brim look so tempting! Will have to try it - next time! Claudia's Cafe Iced Blended Smoothies (sometimes at market) - Hubby enjoyed ginger pineapple banana smoothie with no added sugar. Fruits were ripe and didn't even miss the sugar! Don't miss the large demo tent! Fun way to learn about fruits and veggies and take home some complimentary produce! I learned how to check the ripeness of a pear - touch the neck near the top by the stem and look for gentle pressure (if you feel it - it's ripe!). I enjoyed taking home a few types of pears (Bartlett, Red Anjou, and Bosc). Excited to come back and try some more dishes and support local businesses!

Here's the latest and greatest vendor list from 2023: Timber Pizza - Scrumptious wood-fired pizza with a pillowy soft crust. I can't count on how many fingers and toes I've had the pizza at different farmer's markets! While the lines can get long 12:30pm, you only have to wait for 15 minutes. Taco Dirty To Me: Crispy battered cauliflower tempura tacos, bursting with flavor! Bun'd' Up - Delicious fried tofu and mushroom in squishy soft bao buns topped with microgreens, scallions, and a nice creamy aioli sauce. Light and tasty! Urban+ade - Refreshing lemonade with less sugar than classic lemonade. The Sage & Tarragon is my favorite! Veg Heaven - Decadent sweet treats, the dark chocolate cookies and brownies are the best! While the cakes are moist, they aren't as tasty. Taco Loco - Giant burritos are amazing! There's a swarm of people waiting in line, so be prepared to wait 10-15 min before ordering and then another 5 min for your order! The mango and watermelon juice are refreshing. Hipp Sippin' - Cold-pressed juices and acai bowls made to order. Ravenhook Bakery - Great selection of freshly baked loaves of bread and baked goods. DMV Empanadas - They sell out fast! While the empanadas has a nice crispy hard shell and with so many flavors to choose from, they are a bit bland and overloaded with bland cheese. The Spinach and Cheese or the Bacon and Cheese didn't quite hit the spot, hubby like the Chicken. Al Volo Cucina: While I wasn't a big fan of the greasy eggplant parm subs. I wish they brought back the fresh juices (the watermelon and mango juices) were amazing! Wonderful market with plenty of delicious and diverse options to choose from. Lines start to form between 12:30-1pm, come early!

It's perfect for my sister and I, who are vegetarians, and it's within walking distance of the main strip of Anacostia. Change has to start somewhere and this store is just the beginning. So stop in and help this business grow so it can continue to change the community from within. Check out the other stores and spaces while you're there & don't forget your reusable bag.

You could easily get most of your groceries here and the prices are reasonable for quality goods. They sell wine, snacks, fruit, literally almost everything! It's right by the Nationals stadium, as well as really great food places like Andy's pizza, sweet green, cava, Rasa, and Atlas brewery. You can truly make a whole trip and afternoon out of it. The market itself has a really nice variety, with some vendors that give out samples. Expect to find fresh local produce, homemade candles, flowers, micro greens, handmade pasta, teas made from tea masters, wild caught fish, uncured meats, raw local honey, and delicious eats on the go like empanadas, sandwiches, pastries and fresh coffee. There's also live music and places to sit in the middle of the market. Be wary of the parking situation. If you're lucky you can find some parking; if not be prepared to park far. It's also right off the green line if you decide to metro instead. Highly recommend Half Street Farmer's Market!

Like an Asian market, they are highly seasonal to Asian ingredients so I would come here for that! But do pay special attention to their small bites. We got their kimbap which had a glossy shine from the sesame oil. Each ingredient was well-seasoned and masterfully rolled right in its seaweed paper. Their pork skewer was also so delicious, with a great char and sweet soy marinate. So glad we turned the corner from the produce side and made it to their ready-made food selection. This is a really well rounded stall.

Curious, I strolled up toward it and was surprised to see that beneath that small white tent was a pretty large variety of produce; lots of different types of apples, gourds, pears, plus lettuce and other leafy greens - even herbs like cilantro and basil. There were a few apple samples, so I took advantage of them, as I had been curious about some varieties of apples that I had never tasted. I ended up purchasing two fuji apples, so at .99/lb, it was only $1.75 - I was very happy about this because I hadn't packed an afternoon snack, and now I'd have a tasty apple! What a great lunch surprise, after last week's EH experience! Something interesting to note as well: there was a sign behind the folks working at the market that indicated that they DO take visa and mastercard!
