We've had a generally positive experience with DC Outdoors LLC, and wanted to share both the highlights and a few frustrations so others can make an informed decision.
To start, the initial purchase process and customer service were excellent. The staff--who appear to be a mix of family members and employees--were friendly, helpful, and patient with our questions. The gents who do pick up/delivery as super friendly. Their prices are fair, and their showroom is impressive: bright, clean, easy to access, and stocked with a wide variety of equipment, from ATVs and mowers to small excavators and other machines.
One feature we really appreciate is their VIP service, which offers machine pick-up and drop-off. Since we don't have a trailer, this option is incredibly convenient. We also love that the office can be reached by text message--the team responds quickly, and it makes communication simple and efficient. There is also free parking right on their gravel lot, which is a small but appreciated detail.
That said, we've experienced a few recurring issues. The biggest concern is that customer machines--paid for and in their care--are often stored outdoors for extended periods. The team attributes this to limited indoor space, which we understand, but it's still frustrating when we personally store our equipment in a covered shed.
Last year, our mower sat outside for weeks while waiting on a part (the delay wasn't the shop's fault), but it was returned to us very dusty and dirty, which was disappointing.
This year, we used the VIP service again for annual maintenance. When the mower was brought back, the front deflector was dented, preventing us from fully opening the engine cover. The shop apologized and promptly picked it up for repair, which we appreciated. However, when the mower was returned to us after the deflector was fixed, it was again extremely dusty and dirty--much worse than when they collected it. A quick rinse before delivery would have prevented the frustration entirely.
Also, it would be valuable to customers, to hear from the shop after a few days to get an update on what's going on with parts orders or other services, as opposed to waiting extended periods (a week and more!) of silence, leaving the customer to call in or text requesting updates, ETA or completion dates.
Overall, we do recommend DC Outdoors LLC. Their friendliness, product selection, fair pricing, and convenient services make them a solid choice. But we also won't hesitate to share our full experience--both the good and the not-so-good--with anyone who asks. read more
