It's pretty easy to figure out where you need to go and which platform to be on for a train in or out. I think there are 20-30 different platforms. We took a DB (Deutsche Bahn) to and from the Black Forest without any issue. The trains are clean, smooth, and FAST!

Unfortunately, the train schedule is quite different on Sunday and we ended up having to leave the bullet train and get on a smaller train at another platform, carrying luggage up and downstairs. The ticketing was fairly frustrating, but we'd grown accustomed to that as the electronic ticketing system in Germany, despite there being an English option, is not at all easy to navigate unless you are familiar with it. By this time in our trip we knew what to expect and had built in some time to navigate it and had a vague idea of what we needed so it went fairly well, but with the same little computer hiccups we'd come to expect from the system. The overall train station was, in my opinion, a bit grimy, and well loved, but it had some little cafes that were open early which was a win, and some fairly clean restrooms, though you had to go all the way to the basement for them. Overall, not a lot to report here. It could be modernized, cleaned up a bit, and improved, but it gets the job done.

You can book online or in…read moreperson though tickets do sell quickly and it is often advised for longer distance routes to purchase a designated seat to avoid complications, especially if traveling with luggage. The train station is easy to navigate through but there is still ongoing construction around the station that can be tricky. The station has a coffee shop, and a few other shops with light bites to purchase while you wait. There is also a bathroom but you will need to pay Euros (or a credit card I believe) to use it, which is pretty standard throughout Europe.
