Great location and friendly staff. The food at the patio "food truck" was very good and the pina coladas were excellent.

I invited family here for the first time over the weekend, had a great memory of this place from when I was a child. They were very friendly at the front desk at check-in and while we were staying, the swimming spot was nice the views were great. Friendly restaurant. Mostly friendly staff. The showers for camping were musty though, would suffocate you in mildew smell while u shower and your only other option is the other ones closer to the campsites which I wouldn't even step into. Definitely no bare feet in either shower and make sure you don't touch the walls. The float was super fun and beautiful, the boat guys were nice until our last morning, we hadn't even checked out yet let alone there was no info on a checkout time and were not near home or know the area much. We figured we would let the kids swim one last time before heading out and get some fishing in, we were all packed up. My children and I floated down the rapids and caught ourselves at the sand bar of Dawt Mill that we were just staying at. One of the boat dudes asked if i was staying at Dawt mill I said yes but we were checking out today. He then said well then you need to get the hell off our sand. right to me and my children. I got upset and said some words to the guy and asked his name for being so rude. He then told me none of my fucking business. I got out on the other side of the water walked up to the front desk. The guy had already ran up there with his buddy and told front desk whatever he told them. The front desk had no manager on site at first then the lady proceeded to say she was the assistant manager but wouldn't give me her name or the boat guys name. She gave no eye contact and treated me like a pest, She then said checkout was at 11am so just shrugged her shoulders about how he acted, and then said "that's not what she heard" and then rudely said sorry we've been getting a lot of ppl not staying here going on our sand so he was probably just frustrated. Which is not my problem when he made me feel so unwelcome and uneasy, ruined my last morning and we weren't even hanging out on the sand we just got off the rapids there cuz it was easier with my children in stow. I didn't think I'd be so unwelcomed not even an hour after the checkout time. After not being able to assist me properly she called the boat guys manager who then said that it should've been okay for us to swim there since we were just there staying out of the way and the guy just probably didn't remember me and that he was sorry for what happened etc, I said thankyou for the sorry and consideration and I was glad there was actually someone with customer service around, but we just loaded up and left and not sure if we will ever be back. There is too many other places available on the North Fork River to be explored. read more

Such a pleasant trip-- very long though from start to finish if you aren't hardy rowers--took us 5 hours (we are all over 50 years old). They set us up with rafts, a kayak, and a float for coolers. They did have floatation devices in the rafts but not life jackets which we didn't know we had to request. By the time we made it back to home base -- the store and restaurant were closed. read more

This restaurant is about as good as food can get. It is open on Thur, fri and sat by reservation, and certainly not crowded. We've ate there many times and it never disappoints. Excellent view, service, and decor, but it's the food that steals the show. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. My wife says it's the best carrot cake she's ever eaten, and we're pretty old. read more

This review is for the Restaurant only. We had the all you can eat brunch, was okay. It was like most buffets, lots of mediocre food. The establishment is nice, and the view is really what you are there for. It was a nice time and the price was fair. We may try it again when we are in the area and have a regular meal. read more

We absolutely loved it here. They were recently involved in an April flood so we caught them in the middle of rebuilding from the ground up. Gracious and friendly they've brought in a food truck and set up the bar while they remodel! My husbands memories of this place come from his childhood memories of camping and fishing here with his grandparents. Motorcycling around, we knew we wanted to stop and check it out. I'm sure glad we did!!! The scenery was amazing, despite the hardships brought on by Mother Nature. I can't wait to come back next year to see this spot it it's full glory! Had a close family friend who let his daughters go floating and Dawt Mill did not let them load off there, even though they offered to pay!!! It was getting close to dark, the girls were terrified, the waters were rising, and they were freezing cold and exhausted! I can not believe a place where I used to go and hang out with my friends, wouldn't let a couple of teenage girls pull off to safety. Had this been one of my kiddos, and they had either gotten hurt or drowned I would be suing the shit out of this company. New owners need to straighten up or they will lose plenty of business. read more

Visited today (Saturday) for lunch at the restaurant in the old mill. Restaurant only open Weds, Sat, and Sun at this time of the year according to information online. Arrived at 12:30 PM. One other family was already seated. They had several small children who were being loud and somewhat disruptive. My waitress was a young lady who was very friendly and smiling, but seemed inexperienced. I ordered mushroom soup and a "Dam Burger". The soup was very good. It was crimini mushrooms, leeks, and herbs in a light broth. I had initially ordered the Reuben rather than the burger, only to have the waitress tell me several minutes after ordering that there was no corn beef in the kitchen. OK, so I changed to the burger. Then the waitress returns several minutes later to tell me the kitchen has no lettuce for the burger. Hmm, very odd, but I can live without lettuce I guess. Finally the burger came. It was on a pretzel bun. Looked great, but the bun was cold. It had obviously either been frozen and defrosted or had been refridgerated. It should have been warmed or toasted, but was not. My overall impression was that the Dawt Mill Restaurant has the potential to be exceptional, but it seemed like, at least today, that they were not fully prepared to receive guests. Otherwise, there would have been more attention to details and no "outs". Tours are also available of the old water grist mill, but I didn't partake. It's on the bank of the North Fork River in a very nice rural setting. It is a few miles North of Tecumseh, Missouri in Ozark County. read more

I've never been one to write reviews. This occassion was after a dreadful trip to Dawt Mill. We go yearly for an all girls float getaway. Most years we have stuck to the Current River. This year we decided to try something new. We arrived the first night and noticed the food/bar was open. One guy trying to cook and serve about thirty people. We were in no hurry. We waited an hour and a half for the wrong meal. But we told him no problem. It was 9pm by the food looked great. So we ate and paid. The next day, we went to ask about tubes for our float. We asked specifically for tubes with bottoms for our coolers. The lady at the outfitter said no problem. When the bus arrived, we had a problem. He did not have those tubes. After some negotiations, we finally got on the river. The river is beautiful. I could not right a five star review on just the river that would do it justice. We had a great float and arrived at 5:45 and hour and fifteen minutes early than the deadline of 7:00 to find the gates locked. Locked where the only way to get into the resort was to climb over or crawl under a ten foot fence. We were greated by a teenager in a Dawt Mill shirt who worked there and said he was just waiting for his ride. The boss left told him everyone was off the river. He didnt have a key to the fence. "Sorry". We may try this river again, because the river was beautiful. However we will never do this resort again. read more

MBA Class Annual Float trip was great. Dawt Staff was very accommodating. Our room was just right - only a short walk to water's edge. Beach Bar/Food truck was awesome. Paige (bartender) and Dallas (Mgr/Cook) were putting out great food and drinks in a short time. Lots of games to play while enjoying the outdoors and good company. read more

Our first time floating in a long time and we picked Dawt Mill. Four girls and my hubby tagged along, he wanted to camp but us girls stayed in the cotton gin inn. There had been a lot of flooding the week we decided to go so originally had decided to drive down, spend the night, float the next day and then spend another night. The river was really up when we got there so there was doubt if they were going to let any one float, so we were going to see what happened the next morning. Ok, this is the negative part of my review. There was this redneck, hillbilly family who apparently go every year and rent out the entire camping area, which is pretty small to begin with. My husband was the outsider because everyone else was related to one another and moved in one drunken pack. They were down by the river, music blaring and heavy drinking then up at the camp site, music blaring and extra heavy drinking, which went way into the wee hours of the morning. My husband had to stand guard over his stuff because one of the twelve toes dared his son to go steal something from my husband's campsite. Real smart, classy people. One group was using a taser gun on each other's butts, again, real intelligent people. We never could get a hold of anyone at Dawt mill at 3:00am, so had to call the sheriff from Gainesville to come down. My husband eventually packed up and came up into our room to get some sleep. We ended up not floating due to high water, and so postponed for the next week. ***I will give it 5 stars for the second go around because that horrible family was gone and our float was awesome! The water was beautiful and everyone was very professional and helpful. Kudos to Sandie who works at the front office, she was especially great. read more

I've canoed many rivers in Missouri and the North Fork is my favorite, and my favorite place to canoe from is Dawt Mill! We just canoed this past weekend, but it was my fifth time canoeing North Fork, and my fourth time canoeing with Dawt Mill. Their prices are comparable and their staff is always friendly. What I love most about Dawt Mill is their dedication to keeping the river clean. They give you a trash bag and even have signs up saying, "Please put all trash in the bag, and pick up any other trash you see along the way." I love that when you're done, you finish at Dawt Mill. Some places, they're hard to find or you have to call your company to pick you up (and good luck getting cell signal!) Dawt Mill is easy to find on the river, and you just leave your canoe and accessories on the bank - they take care of the rest! Our driver was very knowledgeable about the river and was ready and willing to answer any questions. We look forward to next time! read more

Great food at the restaurant! Pork nachos and the penne paste with grilled chicken is great! Waitresses are very nice and welcoming!! Do NOT eat their breakfast buffet, only good thing is the biscuit and apple juice and when you stay in your room/cabin. Always make sure you ask for extra towels. Not very happy with our stay. When guests were supposed to be having appetizers and drinks, while the wedding party had a photo session after the ceremony --the staff opened the dinner buffet to the guests so when the bride and groom arrived at the reception most of the guests had already eaten. The schedule for the whole evening was ruined. It ended up being a disorganized mess and the bride and groom did not have the reception that had been planned. They put unauthorized charges on our bill. They did not follow any of the instructions-regarding food and drinks- that we pre-arranged when we had a final meeting with them 1 week before the wedding. There were suppose to be outdoor heaters- they only had 2 and 1 of them caught on fire. They said they did lots of weddings there but obviously they do not. We paid for 100 guests -only 65 came and we were to donate any left-over food to the homeless shelter but they said there was none left. It was a very sad occasion instead of a celebration.
