My experience with Dawn Lozano was nothing short of a nightmare. I am compelled to share my story to help others avoid this attorney. I initially hired Dawn during an incredibly difficult period, hoping for professional guidance and representation. Unfortunately, what I received was a series of unprofessional and unethical actions that left me not only without the support I desperately needed but also financially drained after spending $2,885 including a consultation fee she made me pay before getting any sort of advice which was reasonable because I respect others time. I paid the agreed-upon full amount upfront, believing this was a necessary step to ensure a solid defense. However, this decision quickly proved to be a grave mistake. The attorney made only 2 court appearances on my behalf and then withdrew from the case with no clear explanation only to send a letter months later saying that the court had referred the matter back to the Public Defender's office, but there was no further detail or clarification provided which confused me because she never told us this, and her assistant would only tell us that she would get back to us. Despite numerous emails and messages, I received no response. I was left in the dark about the status of my case and any next steps I should take. Luckily my family found another attorney who represented me but I had to deal with months sitting in jail which I don't put that on her but if she couldn't of done anything or knew this was going to happened I would of just went with a different attorney. In summary, my experience with Dawn was a complete disaster. She took my money, provided minimal service, and failed to follow through on her commitments. Her lack of communication and unprofessional conduct added immense stress to an already challenging situation. I strongly advise others to thoroughly research and consider alternative options before hiring this attorney to avoid similar distressing experiences because I would not want anyone else to go through this. I've had the pleasure of knowing Dawn for about 30 years. She came to me by a recommendation of my uncle when I was being blackmailed, and falsely accused of child abuse that didn't happen by my 1st wife to get leverage in a divorce that was going on at the time 9 months after the supposed incident. She analyzed the evidence listened to my story, and told it in less words to the judge that threw it out. The only actual witness to the supposed incident that was there was never allowed to make a statement, and even he who was there said it didn't happen. This is what people are capable of, and without the proper representation innocent people go to jail or prison. My 1st wife who pressed the charges wasn't even there when the supposed crime was committed. And eventhough a person that wasn't there could make up a story about something that happened 9 months ago is enough for the police to arrest you. You are guilty before proven innocent. My word, and my other stepsons word against the other stepson, and the mom who made it all up. If you can't afford an attorney you are pretty much cooked with the way things work. Public defenders work for the same people the District Attorney's do. As long as they have room they will ill let you rot in jail. Nobody in jail is going to have any sympathy for an accused child abuser. Again guilty before proven innocent. Dawn knows how to fight for whats right so you don't get stored away in some prison working for free to pay community service so they can give you more time. I've raised 7 boys, and a daughter. 4 of those children weren't mine, but I always treated them all the same. The last thing I needed was the false accusation following me around for the rest of my life through the Grace of God, and Dawns expertise as an attorney she spared my life of this horrible situation. 30 years later I have another person falsely accuse me of assault with a deadly weapon. I never laid a hand on the guy. Again go lie to the cops put on a show, and they will come and arrest you. Doesn't matter what you say any jerk canfalsely accuse you of anything, and the cops will take your rights away, and arrest you. Lock you up for 3 days before you can even post bail treat you like garbage during the whole stay. All the while you are completely innocent! They don't care. Not their job. So if you dont have proper representation in a system that doesn't require anything except for what a person says to have your rights stripped from you you're gonna rot in jail, and get talked into a horrible deal that keeps you a slave to the state. The game is rigged, and they make it so difficult that they keep them coming back to jail all their lives. Feeding the correctional institution industrial complex. Without attorneys like Dawn people won't get the justice they are guaranteed by the constitution. The other side doesn't even acknowledge you have rights. They can lock you up anytime any day whenever they feel like all somebody has to do is accuse you. Again I never laid a hand on anyone. The person that did was never contacted by the police. Still I was looking at two felonies for something I didn't do. They don't care. They'll be happy to set you up for falure if you can't get the best representation your money can buy or kiss your ass goodbye. Again they don't care. Everyone is guilty, and you're a liar. That's the world we live in. You can get the best, and she is the best voted by her own colleagues as attorney of the year at the Rio for the attorneys annual honors event for attorneys that go above, and beyond. As a follow up, I realize through my case people treat you based on their need for you. I have used Legal Aid in other states and never felt so discouraged or disregarded in a time of need as I have in Nevada. I am left still possibly needing legal help in the future because the Attorney did not follow through with submitting court documentation which was easy for them to do, but would be difficult for me to do on my own. I was promised copy of a surveillance tape that was captured by a store recapping a violent visit with Father, never received it. In the end, I was not even consulted before I received a letter in the mail that my case was closed. I can't help but feel discarded because financially I could not afford the type of legal help, I really needed. Legal Aid referred me which I was very grateful for at the time. But noticed that some of the attorneys treat you differently because they know you need help and can not afford the help you need on your own. You really are left feeling taken advantage of. Most of my experience through this is attorneys telling what they will ask for in court instead of hearing your side or actually reviewing your case to represent you based off you or your family needs. My case began out of state, and none of that history seemed to matter in my case here. I learned in this whole situation that every state and standards are different. You can be Custodial Parent for years and it won't matter to Court even though the Father is absentee parent, living in another state or has a violent past. That there seems to be a time limit on being a victim of domestic violence even if the other party is still displaying signs of violence. That even with physical evidence of violence the Judge will still make it difficult for Mother because Las Vegas is known as a Father's state. Even if you are promised things by your Attorney to submit court documentation, to receive a copy of surveillance tapes and gain your original documents back, that doesn't mean they will honor that in the end. Since you are with a state program they know you won't have the means to pursue that from them and your limited to anyone supporting you or helping to ensure you received what was promised. Leaving you in shambles of worry and stress or possibly needing legal help in the future doesn't matter. Attorney may be good in other areas of Law but I did not get the help I needed with my Family Custody case. She started off strong and then completely dropped the ball. Very disappointed how things turned out. read more
