This place is extremely popular. Two parking lots popular. It was very crowded and very noisy. The staff was wonderful all around. The drinks were good. The food though ranged from mediocre to weird. I always order Brussels sprout apps if they're on the menu. These were billed as deep fried with sort of a chili mayo, so I was eager to try. What I got were black, way overcooked sprouts that tasted like nothing but charcoal. Pretty bad. Certainly the worst I've had and I've tried dozens of these sorts of apps. We normally don't hesitate to send back a dish that has issues. In this case, the appetizer took over 45 minutes to get to our table and it took about 20 minutes before anyone took our order.. So, when the wait staff and kitchen are clearly and visibly struggling with the workload, and the food is taking such a long time, and every single dish has an issue...who would just keep sending back food? Nobody has all night for that game and it leaves us, the diners, not eating together. So we persevered. My wife had the filet mignon, which sounded delicious and we were eager to try it. The steak looked cooked perfectly but in the mouth it was kind of tough for a filet. Worse though, it was served in the center of this wet spinach stuff made with Pernod. So everything in the dish tasted like that, including the meat, which added a clashing demi-glace, and the somewhat odd deep-fried potato mash (which also tastes burnt and soggy from soaking up the demi-Glace) . The dish needed more subtlety. Maybe less Pernod? I don't know, I'm not a chef. I had the Irish Cobb salad for my entree. The vinaigrette was quite good as were the greens, egg, bacon, and tomatoes. The avocado needed an additional day of ripening. The grilled chicken was mostly dry and overcooked, but a few bites somehow were good. A little lower and slower would work better. People seemed to be having a lot of fun, so the people watching was great. A good spot for a party and drinks, but for the cost, the food was disappointing. They'd do best to go back to basics, like a steak with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The fancy stuff isn't working and the kitchen seems to be overworked, maybe inexperienced or understaffed?, and sending out poor examples of what they could be doing if they kept things simpler.
