Unforgettable bachelorette event! Davy Dance Academy hosted an amazing hip hop class for twelve of us celebrating our good friend's upcoming wedding. Iana was our approachable, energetic and humorous instructor who led us through several routines. The class was physically challenging but Iana made sure to point out ways to modify moves so we didn't hurt ourselves. The two hour class flew by with much laughter and proved the highlight of our weekend. I recommend this Academy from dancers of all ages and skill abilities. read more

My daughter and niece attended the Frozen week camp (July 2021) and I felt that staff didn't communicate with parents at all. To say hey encourage your daughter to participate. Had it not been for my niece who gave us daily reports we would not have been unable to encourage her daily to participate. Then comes the recital which is to be live streamed. You would think we were in the 80's with the quality of it and to top it off I was unable to see my daughter and my niece as they and other girls were left off the camera. My brother who is deployed and logged on watching was left to watch other children. With as much as they charge---they can do better. read more

I too agree the zoom link was terrible! You couldn't see the girls that were stuck in the opposite corner of the camera. If you aren't going allow parents to attend a performance at least have the proper equipment for viewing that makes it worth the price. As to the lessons or commutation I cannot speak on that. Michelle the owner of this business is extremely unprofessional dishonest and greedy. I signed my child up in November for a one day a week class. The class met on Wednesdays. After signing up you receive an email with the handbook with all the rules and policies for the studio as an attachment. In January they emailed out an additional attachment letting you know the handbook was online now along with another copy of the handbook. This is important because it details how dishonest this lady is as a business owner. One of the first things that happened but I let it go was the studio charging my account while I was away in another country. I never signed up for automatic payments but my account had been charged. I actually opted out of automatic charging. When I texted her to ask why this was done she blamed it on her office manager and because I was going to end up paying anyway I left it alone with the understanding it would bot happen again. This was frustrating because I was on vacation and not expecting to have to move money between accounts for an unforeseen event such as this. (See text message photo). Moving forward as the kids practiced every week they're doing so to lead up to the big recital held on June 9th. As we approached the recital date a flyer went out asking parents to sign up for a recital package. I chose the gold package which cost $330 (see photo). Trying to retrieve what I paid for was problematic and took a lot of patience. The instructions were to contact the studio to get the recital tickets (I paid for 4 tickets) so I contacted Michelle to ask for the code as instructed and she was very short and rude with me. (See attached photo of text message). She ended up texting me the code to use to retrieve the tickets later that evening with a bullsh!t apology. When you read her apology she states that she's been very busy...as a business owner you don't lash out at your clientele because you're busy. Again, I let it go. I figured I was all set and tried to use the code provided to order my tickets online per her policy. The code not only did not work but one code equaled 2 tickets and I paid for 4 tickets. As the owner and person responsible for putting together the order of business you should know what your patron paid for and should receive. I had to contact her once again to get the tickets. She emailed the new codes to me and I went to the website again to retrieve my tickets. I had to pay an additional $3.30 x2 to print my tickets out. This was annoying because I already paid for the tickets in the package. Not only was this the only way to get your pre-paid tickets but you neglected to get them you would have to pay $20 per ticket at the door (Greedy). Thinking I'm all set again I never said anything to her. On June 6, Michelle sent me a text message totally out of nowhere asking if I wanted her to charge my account for June's tuition (Remember class is on Wednesday and the recital is June 9th) she never said hello, hi, nothing (see photo of text). I asked Michelle why is there a charge for June tuition when she canceled the June class and the recital is on the 9th. In her response she became enraged and replied that there was class last week (May 29th) and they had dress rehearsal this week (June 5), and proceeded to text again "do you want me to charge your card for June tuition". I said I'm basing my facts on an email your company sent to me stating there would be no class on June 5th. This is when Michelle threatened that if I did not pay the June tuition by Saturday June 8th, my child would not dance in the recital. I asked to see the policy stating this and she said it was in her studio handbook that I signed acknowledgement for and agreed to the policies when I enrolled my child. I advised Michelle that I have the handbook and it does not state anything about a child not performing if the June tuition or any tuition is not paid. She said she would email it to me. This is where I am confidently able to call this woman DISHONEST and UNPROFESSIONAL!!! Her heart is so ugly that she actually went to her computer opened up the original handbook document and INSERTED a statement to fit the LIE she told about the tuition having to be paid prior to the recital (see photo) and emailed the single page to me highlighting her LIE in blue. Remember from above that I not only have one handbook she sent in November but an additional copy that was sent via email in January. This infuriated me as now you are using my child as a pawn in a professional business matter. I don't know what made her text me that day or why she felt she needed to ask me about June tuition. I paid all fees up until this point and had every intention to pay the June tuition because even though I had questions about it I was obligated to pay it. read more

Enrolled my child into the Moana camp. She raves about it the first day, but her mood changed after the next. She is 3 1/2 so trying to understand if there was a problem was difficult. The staff also didn't really communicate at all, about how children were doing or anything like that. They also didn't introduce themselves...that really bothered me. It was a big let down for me, especially since parents were not allowed in. At the end of the day my child I think had an okay time. We were fortunate that she was visible during the Zoom link but I will echo others, if your kid was not in frame you were basically SOL for the recording because they only emailed one view , not both. Now the other issues I have are safety related. They leave the door unlocked during class and slightly open because it doesn't close all the way. There was NO system in place to make sure people picking up children were authorized too. ZERO verification. In this day in age that really bothered me. So I made sure to wait in the parking lot during snack to make sure my child was safe and was there in the building prior to class ending. Finally, they pulled the masking requirements the last two days of camp and told my child the day before they were allowed to go maskless. I really did not appreciate this. I wanted to speak to my child. Based on this conversation she was under the impression they weren't allowed to mask and trying to explain to her that wasn't accurate was not happening. Staff should respect family choices and not discuss things like that with children too young to comprehend the risk. All in all, we won't be back, but I wouldn't say don't go. There were clearly repeat kids that enjoyed it. I will say, we found a dance school closer to our home and my kid LOVES it, so clearly something at Davy Dance was amiss for her. Without being able to attend the sessions I will never know what that was for her, that made her clearly not enjoy it as much toward the end. read more

During the pandemic, Davy Dance has done so many amazing things to keep the kids safe when dancing. They have invested in air purifiers with UV light sanitizers, and incorporate those who decide to dance from home feel included in the space. My daughter loves dance here! read more

It is unfortunate that this dance studio is not military friendly and I really feel they are a disgrace to the Annapolis community. Ms Davy not only denied a registration refund to us when we let her know we had a short notice transfer with the military, but also charged us for the first month of class that we were not able to attend. She also went against her policy that was clearly stated in the handbook with the 1+ month notice we gave her. What is worse- we had been a good customer for a year. After a very long discussion over the phone with her we were told we would finally receive a refund... and 3 months later we still have not. I have never seen a small business run so poorly and dishonest. Ms Lori is the only breath of fresh air to this business and we were grateful for the kindness she showed our child while they were a student there. I would highly suggest investing your money into another dance company. read more

Very poor experience from the beginning. I can't speak for the quality of dance instruction, but I can speak for the business. You will be told whatever you want to hear when enrolling in class, but not get the services promised. At the owner's discretion, you will be charged for classes even if they are cancelled, and you will not be able to make up classes missed even if it's within their guidelines. read more
