Again, very legit. The people at the company were super nice and the moderators were polite and very professional.all around positive use of my time. This was an excellent experience. Here is how things work: one day I received a mail about a survey, indicating that I am selected because of the car that I drove. Being a cautious person, I back searched the sender of the mail (which is Davis Research) which looks legitimate. It provides a website which asks me a lot of questions. At the end it gives me a $25 gift card for participating (which was promised in the mail). OK, so they did not ask my sensitive info like SSN, and only asked email to send gift card. So it is likely legitimate. After that, I received a phone call (who say they are from Davis Research) saying that I am selected to participate in a in-person survey, with some monetary compensation. I said OK and went to this address and attended a 90 minute panel discussion (which by the way is pretty fun) and got the check onsite. Overall it is a pretty fun experience. But the takeaway is that this is legitimate market research business to get real customer opinion. As an engineer, I understand how hard it is to get real customer feedback so I value this kind of thing a lot. So when you receive a mail from Davis Research, probably don't throw it away immediately. Give them a phone call. It will give you a unique experience you won't have on daily basis. read more

This was a really fun research study to take part in, they reached out to me through text and I took a short survey online, which they paid me for regardless of whether I qualified for the actual study or not but I'm my case I did qualify for it and they reached out to me after I gave them my details and we set up a day and time at a well known local business that had the product I was going to test and experience. The staff were all very friendly and the study took only 90 minutes and at the end of that I was paid an additional amount for my time. I definitely recommend taking advantage of being part of this companies research since it will help companies make their products more to a consumers liking. read more

I was then invited to participate at an in-person research study and did that as well. This research company is LEGIT. They were organized, honest, and IMHO very good at what they do. From my understanding they are an independent research company that gets hired by very big name brands to conduct unbiased product research and provide their findings to these A class brands that hire them. I received a letter in the mail, asking me to complete a quick survey for an Amazon gift card, I completed the survey and received the gift card. I then received an email that stated I qualified for a 5 day diary study for financial compensation, as I was I completing the diary study, I received a phone call stating that they extended the timeframe to complete the study. They told me what I had completed and what needed to be completed. They had also sent an email to let me know about the increased compensation to complete the study. When I turned in that study, They mailed a physical check which arrived in 2 business days. I then received an email to ask if I would be interested in a home study, for additional compensation. I agreed and then the following week, 3 research specialists came to my house, respected my house rules (removed their shoes) and had a 3 hour conversation with me. It went so well, that when we were finished, I forgot that I was being compensated until one of the specialists handed me the check! I had a really great experience with this company and do not mind being on the list to engage with future studies with them. read more

Bill Davis and his team at Davis Research provide legitimate old-school market research for his clients around the country. Based on my experience, they are professional, pleasant, and efficient. There are no sales pitches, marketing presentations or mentions of any specific brands. Initially, I received a letter inviting me to answer a brief survey relating to a recent auto purchase. I think there were about 6-7 questions, and it took me a solid minute to answer them online. In return, I received a $15 amazon gift card. The last question on the survey was whether I would be interested in participating in an in-person onsite paid research study in my town in the weeks ahead. I agreed. The in-person study took place in a small purpose-built warehouse not far from my home. Inside, there were several vehicles that were under development and not yet on the market. The vehicles were wrapped to mask the manufacturer(s) and many other details. We worked one-on-one with a survey-taker who asked a series of questions about the vehicles. The entire process took about 75 minutes. At the end of the study, they asked me a few basic, non-intrusive questions about my recent car purchase, thanked me for my participation, and handed me a check for attending the session. I enjoyed it. Later that day, one of the Davis staffers who I had met sent me a text message inviting me to participate in a follow-up focus group session the next day at the same place. I agreed. There were several of us on our panel, working with two very talented and friendly moderators and several techs. The focus group session lasted 3 hours, and we were filmed the entire time so that the moderators (who were drafting the final report) would not have to take notes as the session was fast-paced. Unlike the prior day, we were asked much more detailed and specific questions about the vehicles, our use requirements and preferences, what we liked and disliked, and what worked and didn't work. Everyone involved in the process -- the Davis staff, the moderators, the other panelists, and the techs -- were terrific, personable, intelligent, interesting, articulate and kind. The entire experience was very enjoyable. At the end of the focus group, we were thanked once more and handed another check for our time. My biggest fear, in even responding to the original letter to answer the initial short survey, was that this was a scam. It is not. At first, I received a latter in the mail to participate in a quick survey for minivan users for $10 Amazon gift card and I received the digital gift card shortly after I completed the survey! Then a few days letter I received a follow up letter and an email to conduct in person focus group research on minivan users and get paid $250. I thought I'd give it a try since their office is really close to my work and the time slot they provided was right after work so I went. This was my first time being at a focus group environment so I didn't know what to expect but after my experience, I had to say their staff was super friendly, they provided food snacks and parking validation. The meeting was interactive and fun, the other people participating were all minivan users so we had fun comparing our opinions and thoughts. No marketing or sales pitches, it was almost like a group project discussion back in college so I had a great time and the best thing is that we got a check at the end of it! As of today FEB 21, 2024 no gift card, seems like I was scammed and wasted my time doing the 10 minute survey. But I assure y'all, Davis Research is legitimate! And if you get picked to participate, you're lucky. Their set-up was extremely impressive and everyone was professional and nice. They adhered to covid restrictions and perhaps this helps the study run more smoothly since people weren't bumping into each other. My main contact was Nick and he responded to my questions right away, so he made this a smooth process. I ended up getting my gift card (for answering a brief survey) and check (for participating in the actual research). They were great with including all members of the focus group and ensuring that everyone could give their opinion without feeling the effects of "groupthink." Refreshments were provided by Davis Research and they made every attempt to have us be as comfortable as possible. While coming into contact with them seemed like a scam, some quick internet research showed that they weren't too good to be true and were a legitimate company. They are located out in Calabasas. But here is the cool thing, they out source some groups to a variety of cities. You don't have to go out to Calabasas. Even if I had to go there I would since I have family out there. Jackie was my contact. We communicated via email a few times. We confirmed my appointment over the phone. I guess they want to make sure your a real person. Jackie works well into the evening. On the day of my appointment a Davis Rep greeted me. He was a Davis himself. Super friendly guy. So during the panal your in a small group. Everything is recorded, filmed and people observe you from behind a mirror. Don't forget to wave. They ask questions, show you pictures and pick your brain for a couple of hours. They even feed you. Then when you leave your check is waiting. If you have a chance to work with them, do it. Absolutely legitimate interview opportunity. After receiving my letter and logging in to complete the survey, I did get my $5 Amazon card. I was contacted via email and we arranged for the team to meet with me for the two hour interview. The folks that showed were extremely polite, professional, and the interviewer was very clear in what was going to happen. We spent about 2hrs and 15 min talking about not only audio equipment and how it is used in my home but also why (entertaining with friends, watching movies, etc...). I can definitely understand why people think this is 'too good to be true' but it was a very good use of time as it was actually pretty thought provoking about 'why' audio is a part of our house. The focus group I participated in was very professional and well run. I did wonder when I first signed up if it was a scam but I assure you it was not. I was part of a mock trial and it was a very interesting case. The time seemed to fly by and I wished it would have been longer because there was still a lot of discussion going on within our group. I had a good experience with Davis Research. They were representing a car manufacturer, and the study was completed in my living room with two of my friends and me (all getting paid). The facilitator asked us lots of questions to help the car manufacturers learn why we chose our cars and what we were interested in. We talked and laughed and it really was enjoyable.
