Kudos to the emergency department of the Glen Rose Medical Center, where I received excellent -…read moreindeed lifesaving - care . On June 8, 2025, I arrived at the ER with what was diagnosed as double pneumonia and acute hypoxemia respiratory failure. Early identification of this condition was achieved with blood cultures, imaging (X-rays and CT scans), ECG, continual vitals monitoring, among other diagnostics. Dr. Nicholas Allen Baxter and team reacted quickly with respiratory support, antimicrobials, duonebs treatment, and IV fluids. On the personal side, these superheroes communicated clearly what was happening and were patient in light of my confused state. They arranged an ambulance transfer to a DFW hospital with pulmonary, where I went shortly thereafter. Given my condition that day (exacerbated by my advanced age and underlying condition of bronchiectasis), I'm convinced that its early recognition and rapid treatment in the ER gave me the best chance of survival.

It looks like any other single story medical facility with dr's and such inside. Tho inside, it's a full on hospital, tho a very small one. It is a bit dated and carries a very musty atmosphere, at least it did for me. They still use a lot of the old type area separators and such to keep patients apart from each other. The beds weren't the new technology like the big city hospitals have. Staff was nice, but the wait was crazy! We were scheduled for 0800 for pre op, we didn't get called back untill 1030!!! Wow. That was way longer than any other surgery we've experienced. Tho I can verify if it was a hospital issue or the doctor running behind. The staff was very caring. They followed everything to the T in regard to making sure my wife was set and good to go before they released her. Managed the pain well, and the lady that did the discharge read through almost all of the paper work to make sure we understood. For surgery it was decent.

I've never really been happy with his staff as they're fairly disrespectful, snippy, and rude at times. What really bothered me is his flat out refusal to believe my child's autism diagnosis, consistently pushing his vaccine schedule on me and making me feel as if I wasn't doing enough for my children. I was getting ready to switch doctors however scheduled one quick yearly check up and physical before school started due to the process taking longer then expected. I explained that we had moved when I made the appointment and needed to have all of our info changed over. I received a phone call less than an hour before the appointment time (we now live roughly 45 mins away) asking me a bunch of questions about my child's insurance and how she (the receptionist) had sent me my children's medical records. I told her that she had not sent them to me and had refused to do so because I would need to sign papers (which she refused to email me) as well pay an insane amount to pick them up. I told her that I just needed a yearly appointment before school started. She proceeded to put me on hold for a few minutes and when she came back she told me this would be the last appointment as Dr. Furman doesn't see patients out of county. I cancelled our appointments (have fun getting that cancellation fee) and will have already scheduled with another doctor closer to home. If I have to pay out of pocket until the insurance gets everything straightened out then I will just to go to a doctor who actually cares about his patients. I guess what Doctors forget is that WE (the patients) pay THEM. They can post their fancy degrees on their walls however it doesn't make them any better than any one else. I've seen many, many negative reviews very similar to him refusing to see patients so I can't really believe his practice is very successful. I'm actually glad this happened because it really made me see the type of physician and person he really is.

I left work and drove 3 hours to pick up said prescription only to be told I was misinformed and that it wasn't going to be ready today. Luckily, they were able to "expedite" it and after waiting an hour and a half I received the prescription. This past Friday I called to refill my prescription. I left a message because the office was closed. Tuesday, I hadn't heard from anybody so I went in to try to get it and the lady finally put in the request for me and said they would call me when it is ready. Today. (Wednesday) I receive a voicemail saying I can't refill it unless I set an appointment. I show up at the office 5 minutes later at 10:45am to resolve the issue and I'm told that I "should have called earlier to set an appointment" and I could have gotten in today, but up until 5 minutes earlier I was not aware that I needed an appointment... Luckily I was able to set an appointment for tomorrow (Thursday), given the urgency. Yeah, that's great. But what would have been better is to have been able to receive my prescription today and not have to miss another day of work because of an operator error that was not mine and that I had no idea I needed to provision for. This place is not a bad practice, but of the four months I've dealt with them, two months have been negative experiences. Update (06/27/17): Melissa is rude as hell and I hate doing business at this establishment because she is so condescending and impolite. Today is the last straw with this woman. I called to tell them that my pharmacy said they can't contact my clinic to get my prescription and that I must do it. So I call the clinic, Melissa answers. I tell her what I need to accomplish and she says "well, you need to talk to the pharmacy about that." I tell her that the pharmacy said they can't do it and she says very rudely "well, they can" and just leaves a hostile silence in the air. How about assisting me in resolving the solution, Melissa? Instead of speaking to me like a fool? Finally, I get her to conclude with "I guess I'll get it sent over." Awesome! Now we're getting somewhere. Thank you! Not so fast. I sit here at the pharmacy for two more hours checking periodically to see if they have received anything. Nothing. I call the clinic. Melissa answers. I tell her that the clinic hadn't received anything yet. Very rudely, Melissa says "Well, we're in a clinic, so..." I ask her to clarify and she, rudely again, says "The doctor has to do it and he is probably too busy with patients to deal with it right now. He will probably do it at the end of the day." Thanks for being so informative, Melissa. Thanks for being such a great communicator and thank you for making me feel two feet tall and ruining my day every time I speak to you. I refrained from writing all of this for a long time because I knew that if I did then I would have to awkwardly face these people every time I go in to the clinic. But I've decided I'll just switch providers. I'll miss Dr.Brock, she is a wonderful person. But I am done with this unnecessary insolence.

After getting to the ER we were admitted and taken back and I specifically insisted on fluids due to lack of output, inability to keep fluids down due to puking, and having diarrhea still they said no.
