It is primarily a golf club, with a great 18 hole course along with bowling green. A lovely place, tucked well away from the houses nearby. Not too fancy, but still quite elitist as far as sports clubs go with a long waiting list.

Don't trust your maps, just sneak up the back way! I went here for a friend's 21st, and was really impressed with the function room. It was held in the Mill Suite, which is a downstairs suite with 2 rooms, a coatroom, and bathroom facilities. The main room consists of a bar, a seating/lounge area, and a dance floor with long tables situated at either side. It's a lovely room, very clean, modern, and welcoming. It'd be a lovely place to hold any milestone birthday, engagement party, wedding reception, etc. The prices of drinks at the bar were pretty reasonable, and space to relax or to mingle and chat. The dancefloor is a good size - definitely plenty of room for all your friends' and families' embarrassing dance moves, and all those dance-along favourites like the (heeeey) Macarena! Hamilton Town Hall is a beautiful, historic, pinnacle building in the heart of Hamilton. It's a bit…read moreof everything, from council offices, to the town library, to conference rooms, to a theatre. It's been there forever, the 20's if I'm not mistaken, and has had a couple of refurbs since. I've spent a lot of time in this theatre, as the youth theatre I was part of used this theatre for their shows, and I have so many fond memories of the place having spent about 5 weeks a year in total in the theatre! Now that I'm finished doing youth theatre I do love going to see their shows, and actually went to see Cats here on Saturday night, their most recent production, and it was fantastic. The Town Hall's theatre is amazing, but their library is outstanding as well and has everything you could ever need. The staff are great and willing to help with whatever they can, and I used the reference library a lot when I was doing my family tree, so I have first hand experience with how excellent the librarian's help was in here. If you have any questions about Hamilton's history, or anything book related, the librarians in here are the people to find.

The Fir Park Social Club is different in that it seems to cater for all events. I have been in here for birthdays, christenings and events, and all of them have been nights to remember. The hall is a good size and the bar is big, which is great for a hall full of people waiting for a pint. There is a small stage at the front for the DJ to sit too. The club is open to the public at the weekend, with Friday and Saturday nights being popular with all ages. It sometimes holds events like karaoke or singers, which are probably geared more towards older folk, but I have had a couple of great nights in here regardless. The booze is cheap and the tunes are cheesy, what more could you want!?
