Oh, where do I begin? Perhaps I should start with my sheer inexperience with wedding planning and wedding dress shopping. Literally, I had no clue. No siblings to ask, my mother wasn't too much help either after 25+ years of not having to worry about wedding planning. How do you start the process? What kind of timeline do we have? All of these and more were explained easily, reassuringly and professionally at David's Bridal. I walked up to the store, and I could feel the anxiety building up. I had never done anything like this before, my gut was knotting up.
But once I walked through those doors, my mother and I were greeted promptly and warmly by the staff. We roamed the store looking at this and that, seeing what we'd like to try on and what we liked. And once we were ready to try some on, the staff took some information -contact information, anticipated wedding day etc. With this information, they brought up a calendar and showed me the timeline that should be followed. We had come in at the right time to start shopping for a dress. They went over when their busy months are and when to begin alterations in preparations for the big day. This was beyond helpful! I came into the store not knowing any of this information. And this walkthrough was all very helpful in planning to have my dress ready and at its best in time for the ceremony. Rule of thumb for alterations is ~4 months before the big day.
Once we had completed an introduction to dates and timelines, we were introduced to Lynette, who would be helping us with the appointment. She gave us a quick tour of the store and how everything was organized: the collections of dresses, where to find sizes and different styles, then she helped us bring our first choices to the dressing room. The entire process was fluid; an absolute breeze. Given my nervousness, I can't possibly explain how much I appreciated Lynette's kindness, reassurance, and assistance with getting my undergarments adjusted. Before we even got to putting on a single dress, her "bedside" manner was excellent, professional, and above all cordial and warm. Side note: Who knew you needed shapewear!?
I was immediately able to build a trust with Lynette, as we should be getting comfortable with one another over the appointment and any future visits. We started working through our first few choices and quickly tossed a few out, held one or two that we liked. Lynette was quick to provide me with a few different styles to see what we liked best and what I felt complimented my body most. I had no idea what I looked good in and no idea what I even wanted! So we went down the list, trumpet/mermaid, lace-up/corset, zip up, empire waist, ball gown, you name it. I am not a girlie girl by any means and I was avoiding the "princess" ball gown look like the plague. I do not do big, poofy, nor "bling" or "glam". Lynette was wonderfully keen and understanding to my wants and desires. When I felt I didn't like something, or wanted something else, she was quick to help me find something I'd like better. She also went through a booklet with me, showing me different styles and things my mother wanted me to try on or look at. Throughout this whole process, I was treated with nothing but respect, and Lynette listened to all my wants, price concerns, what I didn't like, what I did like etc. I felt like the focus of the appointment, which is how it should be.
Lynette was able to transform my ideas and make them better beyond my wildest dreams! She brought out accessories: veils, headbands, clips etc. to complete the look and help me envision the finished product. I ended up becoming quite attached to a soft, lace covered a-line gown. We called our appointment to a close and decided to return the following day with some more family for an opinion before making the purchase. Lynette went out of her way to meet with us the following afternoon even though she was not scheduled to work. She reworked her schedule to help me find the right dress and was even able to reserve the gown! I absolutely cannot believe this kind of service! I do quite a bit of training at my place of employment and I take pride in the knowledge and helpfulness of my customer service associates. In Lynette, I see an excellence and an unbeatable client focus beyond compare, she was absolutely beyond helpful in every aspect. And I was looking forward to working with her again the following day and sealing the deal.
Arriving the next afternoon we tried on the gown I had saved from the day before. Lynette completed the look with a suggestion of two veils, a long trailing one and a short one for volume, we added a lovely hair clip and the look was complete. The deal was struck, it was all perfect with raving family reviews.I left with my purchases beaming, absolutely beaming. Lynette was just wonderful. So if you stuck with me this long, please do give David's Bridal a chance, remarkable service! BEYOND happy! Absolutely ecstatic! Five stars! read more
