My daughter and I attended the Ottawa location at Trainyards, we had a most disappointing experience. Save yourself that hassle, go somewhere else. I'm an injured veteran living on a pension with only limited resources to accommodate my daughter's big event (we have a wedding and two proms within the next 5 months). We went into David's Bridal looking at the $99 rack. Only 2 dresses were available. One size 4, but it had a broken zipper (which they said they'd fix). I inquired with the clerk, to confirm the gown was only $99. She assured me it was, then hustled my daughter off to the fitting rooms. My daughter emerged, saying; "Mum, this is the one, I feel like a princess". My heart swelled. You see, my daughter struggles with her health. While grateful, the strain my pension imposed was difficult. She was certain we'd never find something. With this gown the experience was like something out of a fairy tale... at least that's how it started. As my daughter stood, looking every bit the princess she felt inside, the clerk discussed alterations and associated costs. I asked the clerk again if the dress was really $99, she confirmed that it was, then helped us select appropriate accessories (fur stole, shoes, hair piece, etc). Once we had a complete ensemble, I asked the clerk about the gown's price one more time. She assured me it was $99 but this time said she would confirm with her manager. Here's where things went sour. The clerk returned stating that while the gown was a clearance item it was NOT $99, but rather $499. She offered 10% off for the error. In that moment I could almost hear the sound of my daughter's heart breaking. She left the store in tears. I truly believe this was a marketing tactic, not simply a case of the dress having been placed on the wrong rack. First have a woman fall in love, then identify a pricing error. Bad business. The manager explained that only corporate office could make price adjustments. When asked if she could call on our behalf, she advised that was against policy. I said I'd contact corporate office myself and asked for the contact information, she said they don't have it. Instead she provided two email addresses, as she didn't know which was correct. Turns out, both were wrong. I asked to place the gown on hold until the matter was resolved. She advised the dress could only be held until Friday (this was Wed). I offered a deposit to ensure it wouldn't be sold, but she explained I would lose 10% if cancelled. Once home used the Contact Us feature on their website to message corporate office. It took over 2 days to receive a responce. Their response was cold and unsympathetic, saying they couldn't offer anything more than 15%. They weren't very helpful at all, with little regard for what we'd been through. So much about this experience lacked the professionalism I expected. I've received better service at Walmart. To be honest if my daughter were not so in love with the gown I would have walked out. There are many bridal boutiques in the Ottawa area who are happy to offer the level of care and professionalism one would expect for such an occasion. Given the store's general lack of professionalism, blatant error in pricing (or possibly deceptive sales tactics) and the obvious damage (broken zipper) I expected more concern from corporate office. I suppose given the in-store experience and long list of poor reviews online, I shouldn't have been surprised when this too fell short. I wish I'd noticed the reviews before hand. We'd have saved ourselves a great deal of grief. Based on our experience my advise is to RUN... run and don't look back! Save yourself the trouble, go elsewhere. I bought a bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding and got some alterations done. The dress is now lopsided and too tight (I have not gained weight since my initial appointment). Staff refused to alter the top of the dress, which had too much fabric since it was made for a much fuller chest than mine, insisting that it's just "the style". All in all, I paid around $130 in alterations to have the dress look worse than when I brought it in, with my only real ask not addressed. Highly do not recommend. read more

My experience at David's Bridal? Well, I am less than impressed. We arrived for our appointment and they told us to start looking at the demo dresses so we would have some idea of what to pull for us to try on. There were these convenient pictures with each dress style and we found one we liked which they said was only available online and they don't have it to try on in store? Well why not? That is the only reason people go there, to try on dresses... Anyways, the moment we walked in there was an awful smell. They pulled some dresses for us to try on and the lady who was pulling the dresses was not bad (working with what she had I would guess). But, they did not have every size in most of the dresses and would bring us different sizes than what we needed, which makes it difficult to tell how it will look when it's on. Every single dress, I kid you not, was either ripped or broken in some way. The dresses I tried on all had a broken stitch with the bust so my bra was just OUT. Every single dress that we tried on smelled horribly of body odour. Anyways, so we finally find a dress that they have in most of our sizes that we can all agree on. One of the girls wanted to try it on in another store closer to where she lives to see if it fits and looks good etc. When we take it to the front the girl working there asks if we have our paper? What paper? They never gave us a paper to fill out... Then she tells us the good news that the dresses are $40.00 off which is awesome, but our friend was wondering how long the sale would last as she wanted to try the dress on in her home town. So the lady is going through with our ordering and says so the arrival date could be up to July 18, 2020 (The wedding we are in is July 25, 2020, and we were ordering these dresses in February) We decided to take the chance. She said "because this dress is a new line that was just released that is why it will take so long to get here". Okay, whatever... then Emily asks about how long the sale is because she wants to try it on in her size elsewhere, to which this girl replies "this dress is not available anywhere in Canada to try on", so then I say "are you ordering the right dress here because we all just tried it on aside from Emily" then the girl says "oh, you misunderstood me it's not available in many of the stores in Canada". Then the girl phones head office or someone to see that Emily won't miss out on the sale. While on the phone she says "the sale is only until end of day Monday and you have to order this dress now because it is being discontinued". To which I say, wait a minute you just told us its a new design, how can it already be discontinued.... She just kind of shrugged. So we order the dresses, well they came in last week and I tried mine on since it wasn't broken. They put two stitches in the bust and it has messed up the pleating, I look like someone is supposed to be dumping paint on me for the set of Carrie. I walked out to show my boyfriend and he asked me how much I paid for this dress because it looks extremely cheaply made. I tried to find an email to send my complaints off but it appears that I cannot find one. So here is my review. If you're looking for the ultimate wedding dress shopping experience and feeling like a princess...you're not going to find it here. David's Bridal is definitely way too crowded for that. The fitting rooms are super small and way too crowded. The fitting rooms are pretty much slightly larger than a regular sized fitting room in a department store. There are probably 10-20 girls all trying on dresses in the fitting rooms with 3-5 loved ones each. Therefore, there are not enough chairs for everyone to sit and comfortably shop with you. The overall wedding dress selections are small. However, they have a lot of sizes for each style/model of dress to try on. The great thing about David's Bridal are the price ranges. You can definitely find a wedding dress within your budget here. They also had a 20% off sale when I was here. I did end up buying my wedding dress here and I absolute love it and paid less than $1000 for it (including taxes). However, the experience wasn't my favourite but the crowds and size of fitting rooms are probably how they are able to keep their prices so low. I am glad that I've gone to other bridal shops before David's Bridal to experience that princess feel. read more

The reviews below pretty much explain it all when you walk into Davids Bridal. I held off on this review for quiet some time (as I was getting married and things were hectic). I did find my wedding dress here, hence the extra star on this review. The price was right for the beautiful lace gown that my friend actually helped me find off the rack. (thank goodness for her). It's not like you see on TV, where you get to sit back with champagne and in a silk rob, while the associates pull your dresses of your dreams off the rack. Its the complete opposite! The associate helping me out was new, and definitely tried her best and made me feel comfortable, but because of her being new, she was often being helped by other reps (this led to a lot of other opinions, change room breakdowns, and I just want to get the hell out of here moments). The experience was overwhelming!!!!!! I highly recommend that you bring a robe with you (trust me), as Davids Bridal did not provide any. Although, they will provide you with a corset to wear under your dress, which will be used as an upsell. The associates only have a max 1 and a half hours with you, so if you don't find your dress, they will push you to come back another time. The time does go by quickly, so you need to know exactly what dress you want (try and scope out their website before you go in), as you will get little help. I had to wait quiet sometime when arriving for my appointment, I guess it was a perfect opportunity to pull my own dresses. The dress was ordered in and did arrive earlier than expected. (I went dress shopping 5 months before my wedding date this year). Lets just say I never tried on my dress at the shop once it arrived and went to a local business for the alterations. I got married on October 1st, 2022 and only received my dress on September 28th. It has taken me until today to write about my experience. I went dress shopping in Sept/Oct 2021 at David's Bridal in the Ottawa Trainyards. I had a great assistant (though I booked an appt, and they weren't ready for me until a half hour or more later), and I found my dress. We had someone from alterations come out and tell me what I wanted was possible, so I bought the dress and booked their recommended alterations date - August 2022. My Matron and Honour and I went to that appt in August, and I got my dress all pinned, they charged me for C size bra cups because I wanted them built in, and we booked my final fitting. During this visit I was asked no less than six times my wedding date. I remember this irritating me because my wedding date is how they figured out all my dates for alterations and final pick up. The day of my alterations, My Matron of Honour confirmed with alterations that the dress would finished by September 24th - my pick up date. Alterations said it would be complete, and if anything wasn't just right, it would be altered right then and there. The week before my alterations, I received a call that they double booked my 11am appt on the 24th and couldn't take me. I had to switch to 2pm. On a side note, it's over an hour commute to David's Bridal for me. I show up for my appt at 2pm, get shown into the dressing room, my dress brought in to try on, and it's full of pins. The top had been altered but was too big, my C cups were not incorporated, and she asked me if I needed a new cup - which I had purchased and was on the invoice, so I was confused why she asked. The bottom of the dress was full of pins, and my bussel wasn't even close to being done. She then told me to come back in a few hours to try it on again. I was shocked. I had family with me, and we weren't from Ottawa. We had no choice, so I said we'll be back at 4pm, she said she had another appt and preferred 5pm. My sister spoke up and said 4:30pm. At 4:30pm, alterations sent an assistant out to tell me it wasn't ready and to come back in another hour or so. I was shocked again. My wedding was a week away. I was beyond upset for a few reasons - alterations doesn't deal with the issues they cause, and they send assistants out to deal with it. The assistant said "Usually, there are two alterations appointments booked followed by the final fitting." I was at no time told that or scheduled for that. They booked me an alterations appointment and a final fitting appointment with the guarantee I was walking out with my dress. The assistant offered to send my dress UPS next day on the Monday - on them, and guaranteed a phone call and email with tracking. Monday, I waited and waited, nothing. I get home from work and call. I spoke to alterations, and she said she would call me back. She did not call me back, she had the assistant call me instead of dealing with it herself. They didn't UPS my dress. They actually blamed the UPS person - which I don't believe. They forgot or my alterations still weren't done. If I hadn't called, what would have happened? The assistant said again "I will call and email you tomorrow with the tracking info." I waited and waited. My fiancee even called in the morning to confirm, and they told him the person who created the UPS labels would be in at noon, she will create it then and call me. No call. Late afternoon I got an email with tracking. No phone call - as promised. I was a mess. I did what I was supposed to do. I got my dress early, went to all the appointments David's Bridal booked for me, and they continuously disappointed me. My dress came in Wednesday (I had to leave work early), I tried it on, and the top is still too big, the underlining is showing past the lace, and my chest didn't fit properly into the cups. I don't trust David's Bridal at this point - nor do I live close-by to go back and have them fix it. I don't feel they cared. The day of my wedding, I was close to a break down while getting dressed. My Matron of Honour got me body tape, and we did our best with that. Not David's Bridal, my Matron of Honour. I debated writing this review, but my wedding party told this story to a few people, and their response was always "Was this David's Bridal?". Not impressed at all. David's Bridal was recommended to me ( for a mother-of-the-bride dress) so I had high hopes and booked an appointment for 11am yesterday. I arrived at 10:55am, checked in, and was told to look around and an assistant would find me. Never happened. At 11:15am I asked an employee if I could try on some dresses ( I found a couple I liked) and she said no, I needed to wait for an assistant. I told her I had an appointment for 11am - she said an assistant would find me. By 11:30am , I left. At 12:15pm, I received a text telling me that my assistant was ready for me. Unbelievable. It was very busy in this store and while I understand that there can be delays, David's should be transparent and tell their customers that there is a wait time. I received a few "reminder" texts re: my 11am appointment, yet I never got served. Also, the texts say to wear a mask as " we will be wearing one too" plus there is a very visible sign that says " mask required" on the store door/window. Well, half the people in the store weren't wearing masks, including a few employees. I'm fine not wearing a mask but others are not. Be transparent. Update your requirements. Schedule your customers accordingly. You lost a customer ( who also needs a dress for another wedding) who will not be recommending this store. read more

I stopped in several times and never found a dress I liked in my size (16), never mind in a colour I would like. I'm about as far as it gets from a girly girl. I don't like shopping (unless it's with a guy cuz they tend to wana go quick too lol) or getting my nails done or watching sobbing chick flix. So after reading the other bad reviews, i also really wanted to be able to give this place a bad review too just because i wasn't happy i was being dragged to Ottawa to dress shop with my girly girl sister and her girly girl friends. But i can't give this place a bad review. They did everything possible to keep everything running along smoothly. The appointment was respected: within 5 minutes of showing up on time we were assigned a consultant who showed us to the dresses and to our designated changing rooms (2 changing rooms for our gang of 7 wasn't ideal but worked well in the end so can't complain). The chairs set up in front of the changing rooms were very appreciated and comfy. It was very busy but they gave us a nice quiet little corner to do our thing, the consultant was helpful with getting dresses and sizes. We had all made our choices which my sister approved within less than the allotted hour appointment time. Definitely not happy about the price I'm guna pay but I'm admittedly cheap when it comes to clothes shopping so that's not the store's problem cuz from my understanding 250$ for a bridesmaids dress is actually pretty reasonable. So yah I wasn't happy about having to come but I'm glad we came here. It was quick, painless, efficient and pleasant even. If need be I would come here again so that's saying a LOT. read more

I'm not a huge fan of David's Bridal; it's busy, it seems overpriced for the experience of an "on mass" gown store, and I have never walked out of the store feeling pleased with my visit. There is quite a selection of gowns and it is a good place to go and determine what style might best suit your body, but be aware you may be trying on gowns with 20 other brides in the back of the store. It's also a good place to get ideas for bridesmaid gowns but I'm sorry to say that I will not purchase a bridesmaid gown from this store: the bridesmaid gowns are cheaply made and highly priced. There is however, also a prom and "off the rack" fancy gown section - those gowns are at a slightly higher price point, nicely made and quite beautiful. I was not all that impressed with the after-care of the purchase of a friends gown either. The bride chose to have alterations done in store and it took several attempts to get it right, pushing our pick up date to the day before the wedding - that's Way to close for my personal sanity. When we finally picked up the dress it did fit (thank goodness) but it required 2 Hours of steaming by yours truly. All this bad news and still a three star rating: All the sales staff I have worked with are really lovely. I have not felt pressured in this store, and they do tend to come up with some pretty good suggestions for the bride and her party. That said, I was presented with a dress 4 sizes bigger than my bridal size (which I realize is always bigger than regular wear). It was a rather disheartening experience following which I spent several days at the gym and kicked the diet into high gear - so I suppose in the long run it was good motivation. I would recommend heading to David's during their $99 sale if you are on a tight budget, but otherwise it may be more stress than it's worth. read more

Well here it goes. I called in early February to book an appointment for the 20th, as I was home for Spring break. When I called, I was on hold for 15 minutes until the booking was actually made. The 20th came, and showed up on time for my 11:00am appointment. They didn't have me booked in. The store was relatively quiet, and they didn't even make an offer to take me in anyway, despite the fact that I had maintained I made the appointment two weeks prior. When I asked if someone simply booked me for another day, the lady shook her head and said I wasn't in the system. Period. I left extremely upset, as I had driven AN HOUR for this appointment. I eventually found my dream dress elsewhere. The rub? A month later I get a call to confirm my appointment for the next day, and I was absolutely speechless. I told the lady over the phone about what had happened, and received no apology. Do yourself a favour, and AVOID this place altogether. read more

When I first walked in, I didn't know we had to make appointments but I was helped right away and given a selection of bridesmaid dresses to try. The lady there was very helpful and came back to check up on me often but I did not make up my mind in that session. The second time I came in, I already made an appointment in advance. I had to wait a little while to be assisted but when she came, the lady was able to provide me with the help that I needed. She gave me good advice on the fitting and then I ordered the dress. However I had to wait a long time to pay because there were some technical issues with cashing out as the bride was located in Mississauga but I wanted my dress ordered to Ottawa. They told me that the dress would come at least by the end of June which was about two months away. I didn't hear anything from David's Bridal around mid June so I called and they said it may be available the next Monday. I didn't receive a call back so I just waited and called again on 29 June and they told me it was in. She informed me that it *just* came in, so I took her word for it and came into the store to pick it up. When I went to the receptionist, she was on the phone and I stood there for a while until she addressed me. I inspected the dress and it came out nicely, and she told me to get it steamed. Overall it was an okay experience where some ladies are extremely helpful and friendly, and others seem a little snobbish. read more

Terrible experience from the bride trying to find a dress to the bridesmaid dress appointments. The bride did not end up getting her dress at David's but we did end up buying our bridesmaid dresses there. I can't lie, they do have a huge selection of dresses at affordable prices. If you're willing to sacrifice service for price then totally go here because the price is right but don't expect that everything will be smooth sailing once you have placed your dress order. After no help from our consultant who was nowhere to be found for the majority of the appointment or helping other girls try on prom dresses, the bride settled on some gorgeous Vera Wang dresses and we placed our order. I placed my order on the phone, received a confirmation number and was told I would receive an e-mail confirmation (as I had paid over the phone as well). Surprisingly the dresses arrived quite quickly and I had someone else go pick up my dress. Unfortunately, the manager Angela who had placed my order had ordered me a size 18 instead of an 8 oops.. no alterations are going to fix that situation. So they had to order me another dress and told me that the dress was guaranteed to be in two weeks before the wedding. As if a wedding isn't stressful enough, I might only have two weeks to get my dress altered to fit the way the bride wanted. During the phone conversation I requested that I receive a phone call confirmation from a manager once the order had been placed to confirm with me and asked for a rush order and was told that someone would call me shortly. Four days later there was no call so I called back. Turns out the SAME MANAGER (Angela) had re-placed the order wrong again. The order was finally put through correctly and Konnie (who was helpful and pleasant to speak to) was able to give me as much information as possible. I am still waiting to see if the dress makes it in time and if anyone calls to let me know. Hopefully this nightmare will be over soon. I've been to David's Bridal for a few different types of appointments over the last year for both wedding and bridesmaid dress shopping. On every occasion without fail I have felt rushed and unimportant. Most of the staff is not very helpful at all and were often not available for assistance even during scheduled appointments. My latest experience with the company left me with contacting the head office who are also not very helpful. Out of the 10 employees I've dealt with over the last year, there was one that made my experience bearable and she was not even supposed to be helping me. Long story short, I feel like there is more value in supporting a local business that values your time and interest. read more

I had a very short time to get everything prepared 3 months from engagement to wedding, as it was a destination wedding I needed to find the dress and have it completed within that time frame alterations and all. Davids bridal has successfully found me the dress of my dreams. After telling the sales associate specifically what I wanted I knew from the first dress that we were on the right track and on the 3rd dress we found the ONE! They didn't specifically have what i wanted at first which was a white or ivory dress with black accents, also corset style. What we ended up doing was a black belt but then later changed it to black lacing detail in the corset style full length dress. They had written my phone number wrong and had trouble contacting me but the sales associate that had helped me went out of her way to find and contact me through Facebook which to me went beyond being extremely dedicated, thoughtful and wise. The alterations also went extremely well, they took the time to fit perfectly to my size and height and adding the black detail to the dress. Using one of their sashes they cut it to make it the ribbon lacing at the back of the dress with the best quality fabric.They also added great pickups in the back of the dress which was extremely helpful for the outdoor wedding my husband and I had. Another great piece that we found at a great price ($55)was the fascinator which worked perfectly with my dress. The colour and detail in the headband was perfect, it added the final touch and made the dress complete. We also bought my bridal shower dress also at a great price of $50. The wedding dress was at a cost of $850. Alterations with re-sizing, pick ups and added detail $300. Davids bridal was a great experience for me and all of the girls that work there were extremely helpful and kind. I would most definitely recommend Davids Bridal to any future bride. read more

The store was way too crowded and over booked, in the past the store always had plenty of room to sit down and to look st the dresses. Saturday, 3 women were crammed into 1 small dressing room and no chairs to sit on, nowhere to hang our coats. Our "server" showed up 30 minutes into the appointment and told us she was I charge of 2 groups and wouldn't be able to help us much- when she did help us she brought dresses 4 sizes too big and walked away (offered no assistance to adjust the dress). We would ask for another dress and she would disappear for 10 minutes at a time. I made my appointment 3 weeks ago to insure my spot would be booked, not assuming the place would be over crowded. It did not make the experience special at all. They have great dresses at a great price, but the customer service is really lacking. read more

I had booked a try on for prom dresses(at trainyards) for me and friend along with my sister for advice. I had called in advance to make sure this was okay. As we walk in its visible that the store is quite busy. The woman who was at the greeting desk in the front was rude. Not only was she rude but she ac asked my sister to leave the store and wait in the car. Her tone was impolite and quite honestly agressive. This was frustrating due to the fact that i had called before to make sure ghis was okay. She then proceeded to tell us to go walk around without help, even though i had been told we would have an employee there to help. Her attitude was rude and showed no costumer service to us at all. Her attitude apon our arrival ruined and exprience which should have been fun. After this we didnt want to stay and i ended up trying no dresses on. WARNING TO NOT SHOP AT DAVID's BRIDAL OTTAWA Bridesmaids dresses - this was a shit show from day one. First they tell you to go online and check out the dresses you want to try on, then you show up and see a sloppy assortment of dresses and they tell you they don't have any of the ones on the website. So fast forward through a crowded, messy experience trying on whatever they have in store ( we were 3 in one cabin ) to purchasing what you settle on... they ordered the wrong dress for me. Its just a code on the bill so we don't know. When i receive my dress ( I paid shipping since I live 2.5 hours away ) they SENT ME THE WRONG DRESS, I ordered a 2 strap they sent me a single strap. So I call back speak to a manager and send back the dress, she says they can order the long version of my dress, cut it ( to knee lenght) and send it to me. So they call to ask me to come pick it up or pay for shipping again, I tell them they are mistaken, I am not paying shipping, "oh ok" and wait for the dress again for OVER 2 weeks. IT'S STILL WRONG, its a full lenght. I call the store back, the manager I spoke to isn't there and none of the others will deal with it. Today the original manager calls me back and says they sent the dress without consulting her first so I can drive back to Ottawa to have them hem it for me because they aren't comfortable doing it without me there. I say I don't have time or gas money to drive back so no. I want them to pay for alterations here, 'no'. Finally she calls me back to say that I can send the dress back to them and they will cut it and send it back to me. That's the best they can do. I'm supposed to trust them AGAIN, and with less than a month until the wedding. I have other, more complex alterations to do that require more time- I don't trust them at all to get it to me in time and correct. They REFUSE TO COMPENSATE my gas to go to the store, they refuse to pay for alterations here, they refuse to do other alterations for me as compensation. They are already being 'generous' because the long dress costs more than the short I ordered and they paid the difference and they will allow to hem my dress if I ship it. Thanks a lot David's Bridal. THEY ARE GENEROUS BY HAVING TO ABSORD THE EXTRA EXPENSES INCURRED BY THEM SCREWING UP AND THEN EXPECT YOU TO FEEL BAD EVEN THOUGH THEY SCREW UP AGAIN!? DON'T RISK THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF YOUR LIFE OR YOUR FRIEND'S LIFE AND TRUST THEM!!! If a 'rare' mishap happens they won't even bother to make a rare compensation and make it right. We had a great experience here today, even though it was a Saturday and they were extremely busy! They have lots of staff working, and we loved our consultant, Megan! If you're looking for a discount - then you'll get what you pay for at this place. We went there to look at bridesmaid dresses and it was an awful experience. our appointment was half hour late, the woman that we were set up with was less than enthusiastic to even be working let alone assist us. She left for long periods of time (no idea where she went, each group had their own assistant.....). We ended up grabbing our own dresses because we waited for so long. When she finally did arrive she wouldn't assist us with the dresses unless we specifically asked her. Instead she would stand, leaning against the wall and watch us struggle..... I had to ask her to please clip the dress in the back so i didn't expose myself to the rest of the room... Worst part in addition to the constant waiting was the fact that we had to keep asking her the same question because she kept answering it wrong and then got frustrated and just walked away. (we were told the one color we liked only came in the one style of dress, so we asked what an equivalent color would look like in the style we DID like and she kept saying "it doesn.t come in that color, it only comes in that style". YES WE GOT THAT. We wanted a rose gold dress and said okay, what would a rose-goldISH color look like? Ugh. Then she brought us every color of pink dress and just put them beside the room, random dresses, random sizes... like... what are we supposed to do with those? THEN she tells us that we are "unrealistic" that we would want a bridesmaids dress in 3.5 months and tells us that if we don't buy the dress ON THE SPOT that she wouldn't even sell them to us another day! She then books us in a weeks time to see if we want the dresses we tried on- making it seem like if we didn't book an appointment with her on the spot for a weeks' time that there wouldn't be any appointments left. LOL. We made the current appointment in 3 days time, its January... not a high season. Relax. Yea, we wont be back. I wouldn't put a dime into their pockets. read more

I don't know why anyone goes to this store, for any reason. This place is the Walmart of dresses. Their staff are completely unequipped, have no taste, and were entirely unhelpful. I had to order the cheapest looking, poorly made, bridesmaid dress for a wedding... fine with me, because the other girls wanted inexpensive dresses. But despite the fact that these dresses are made and manufactured by David's Bridal in some factory (read: cheap), they cost over $200 on average. The David's Bridal ordered me A FULL SIZE too big, and then wouldn't exchange it for a size down, because "they wouldn't be able to get the dress in time" 5 MONTHS AHEAD of the wedding. Ok guys. (That was in December - wedding in May). Fast forward to now, two months ahead of the wedding, one of the girls in the wedding party "hasn't lost the weight she thought she would" (shocker) and had to go out and buy herself a different dress. Not from David's Bridal (obviously) because god forbid this store actually have access to their own inventory. Now, the bride wants me to change the silhouette of my dress (the dresses have mismatched styles) to balance the other dress change. I called David's Bridal, asking if there was any possible way to switch the dresses. They wouldn't give me a straight answer and told me I had to come in store to see if they could solve the problem. Took the hours out of my day to come to Ottawa (live in Kingston) to talk to someone about rush ordering/exchanging this (still unaltered/tags on/in its damn plastic wrap/never worn) dress. I currently have a "crinkle chiffon" and the bride wanted me to get the "crinkle chiffon with full skirt" instead of "cascading ruffle." The woman at the front insisted four times that there was no such style. I pulled it up on my phone, and she petulantly looked it up in the system before arbitrarily deciding that "the style is not available until June." Which someone easily could have informed me of over the phone, before I took the train to Ottawa. Don't even think about ordering a dress here. It's your wedding. Go somewhere where they can actually provide customer service and do something helpful should a problem arise. I have been to this location twice, but I've not purchased anything either time. During the visits, We received good service during our appointments, but were a little surprised by the very high cost of alterations (would have cost the same as the dress). After shopping at other locations who carried designer brands it became very evident that even if they cost a little bit more, you are getting a much higher quality dress with better fabric and fit and will not need as many alterations. read more

I did find an absolute gorgeous wedding dress and I am very happy with it. The store itself wasn't great I found a veil I liked it was the last one on display, so it was wrinkled and had a bit of dirt on it. I was offered no discount, but I took it anyway because it was what I wanted. I found a dancing dress for the reception it was also the last one, it was also wrinkled and had a smudge of dirt on the bottom. I once again was not offered a discount to take the floor model. I looked for shoes and found a pair that I really liked but they once again only had the display model, you could see dirty toe prints in the shoes. GROSS!!! I didn't take those I am not paying full price for used shoes. I wasn't offered to have a pair ordered or even offered a discount on the gross shoes. Even after I pointed out the toe marks. I booked my visit but somehow was given the same visit as another lady and we were both left standing an awful lot as the sales lady tried to cater to us both. I was really not happy as I had a long wait over and over again, waiting for her to return with something different. Just standing half naked in a change room. For the record the other lady was way more angry than I was.We ended up helping each other with zippers and buttons, (not exactly how I pictured my day dress shopping) When I arrived I was told to browse and pull any dress that I wanted to try on and put it sideways on the rack. I did that and the sales person did not even bring me the dresses I pulled, I was super confused I don't think she even looked at the ones I pulled, or she got my dresses confused with the other ladies I am not sure. She was bringing me dresses that were nothing like what I asked for or was looking for. (it was confusing) I got tired of waiting as I didn't have all day and started to pull my own dresses and try them on myself then I got heck for that because I wasn't supposed to touch the dresses. For the record I was not told that I wasn't supposed to touch the dresses. I asked about little lace jackets for a cooler day and they had 3 to choose from, seriously, only 3. No bridal gloves and only 3 head pieces to choose from. The store itself is dated, carpet was worn and stained, dressing rooms were small and had no mirrors. The shoe display was a total disorganised mess, and they had no nylons there to try on shoes with. (maybe that explains the gross toe prints. Staff were not there to help just a total disappointment So David's Bridal Ottawa...... only dirty wrinkled floor models available but no discounts. I was also a bit surprised that I wasn't told that the dress would take 4 months to arrive until after I paid for it. I just think that is something you should let customers know as soon as they arrive, not while they have already had their credit card charged. I don't live in Ottawa so this is a problem for me. I will have to figure it out on my own. Just a terrible experience, I would not recommend it. Give the other smaller wedding retailers in Ottawa a chance, it has to be better than David's Update: The dress came in earlier than expected...... good.......... but when she called she was all......... "You need to pick it up in the next seven days, when will you be in"? Uhhhhh you just called me so I am not sure. "well I need to know when you will pick it up". I would highly recommend taking time and booking your appointment during the week. The consultants will have the time to pay special attention to you and most likely only you. I worked with Kayla and she was wonderful and patient. I would have given more stars, but I have huge issue with the cost charged for alterations. I figured since this was a budget friendly store rather than boutique they would be able to order a dress for me in a small amount of time. I had 2 months till my wedding. I was wrong, wait times for dress orders is MONTHS. Even a simple ribbon would take 16 weeks. I had to buy off the rack and they had very little to offer me in my size as I am very petite. However, the consultants did their best to help me find a dress. Even though I did find a dress in my size off the rack, it needed quite a few alterations. The alterations cost more than the dress. I was fully aware going in that I would need alterations, but I was shocked at the cost. They have every little possible alteration marked with a price and do not offer a full "package" cost. I understand the time and energy required to alter a dress... But as some women don't fit the size mold, they should offer a base price for full dress alterations. Having said this, the ladies in alterations were VERY pleasant to work with and seemed extremely talented. And, I realized that they probably have little control over cost setting. I have only gone for my first fitting, and have yet to see their work, but am feeling confident. I do recommend checking your measurements they take before you leave the store. I read reviews after and checked mine a couple days after and 2 of my measurements where off by inches. My measurements were off 3 inches on my hips and down 2 on my chest (completely impossible). I hope this does not affect any of the pin placement. I am concerned about other reviewers that say the shop charges again for any adjustments for alterations. I don't believe this practice is right and hopefully all goes well. While alterations blew my budget, I have faith that I will receive what I paid for. All in all I would recommend David's Bridal, just go in fully prepared and informed about costs and timeline. Preview their website and have some dresses in mind, be open to having them help you, ask questions, and just have fun. DO NOT SHOP HERE WOULD NOT EVEN GIVE 1Star but had to in order to post! So this is email number 2 being sent to you. The first was sent June 20 and received a response saying I would be contacted with in 48 hours not including Weekends or Holiday? Still no response, again horrible service. My friend bought her wedding dress, mothers dress and 5 bridesmaid dresses from the Train-yard Location, in Ottawa Ont.Canada Her mothers dress was mailed to them and arrived FOLDED AND WRINKLED, in a plain envelope from Canada Post. She was charged $60 per dress ( only 3 as the other 2 were taken as they bridesmaids lived out of town and choose to get altered where they lived, )for alterations THAT WERE NOT DONE. WE CAN PROVE THEY WERE NOT TOUCHED! Then her wedding dress ZIPPER broke day of fitting. When she requested the dresses be altered they told her another $55 per dress, and will take another week, putting dresses to be ready June 26. And her wedding dress zipper will be replaced but will take 1WEEK Putting both dresses ready 2 days before wedding date. They told her Possibly the 26 of June. As a side note the original seamstress had quit. I HAVE NEVER HEARD SUCH A HORROR STORY. She is getting these dresses altered by a Professional not working for David's as she Doesn't want to go thru David's bridal. She does not trust them, as they told her already they were done but not possible as the thread used was IDENTICAL to the whole dress and sewing was also identical and no scraps were provided. And they were the same length as they were measured. They were not touched ever. $60 per dress and nothing was done now they want her to pay an additional $55 per dress! Are they crazy. Do your job. As for her moms dress it needed to be steamed as it was so wrinkled, and yes they charge her for that too. Overall the buying, alterations and customer service was HORRID!!! Please look into this. After working with Brittany and Angela yesterday I have the dress that makes me smile ear to ear. After a "failed" attempt on Sunday (Brought home a dress I didn't love, my own mistake) David's graciously allowed me to come back in and make a switch. Brittany listened to what I wanted and brought me a fantastic selection of dresses to try. I went from disliking everything I put on on Sunday to last night falling in love with multiple dresses but in the end finding "the one". For a girl that "hates" dresses they were so patient throughout my two appointments and made me feel like I had all the time in the world to be sure I made the right choice. Pros : Excellent service from Zaineb B. on the first appointment. She was attentive to the wishes of the future bride (my daughter) and helped her find the right dress. Her patience and engaging personality made a big impact on my daughter and her party. Also, an excellent service from Mélissa P. on a third appointemnt (to find the right crinoline and veil while trying on THE (her) dress). She was also very professional in her reaction when we noticed that the sash of the dress was missing and the one found was stained and even had a pulled strand and a small hole. She took the time to fix the problem with management. Management is understanding when a problem occurs and is opened to finding a solution in a way that will satisfy everyone. In this case, a new dress was ordered since it was impossible to get just a new sash. Cons: It's kind of a shame that, on a second appointment ment to find the accessories for the dress, we had the distinct feeling that we were not very important and the person assigned to us was not really present. She was all over the place, but not with us. Sorry, I don't know her name. We felt that, since the dress had been paid for, we were of little interest !!! *** Sorry, but that how we felt and I should add that at that time, my daughter said : "If I hadn't already bought my dress, I would go buy it somewhere else...!!!" It's also very surprising to find out that a pricy wedding dress comes in a simple saran wrap plastic type protective cover (like the ones used at any dry cleaners) and that a real protective bag had to be bought. We got it free because of the mishap with the sash, but still, it doesn't register in our heads that a sturdy protective bag is not included with the dress. Overall, my daughter will wear a beautiful dress on her weddig day, but I do believe that somethings have to change so as to impress potential buyers more. Management must remember that most of the publicity and should I say, the most productive one is "mouth to ear" ! read more

My cousin and I went to this location for a last minute wedding. We were looking for a gown for the bride and as we walked in the receptionist asked us what we were looking for. We said we were browsing. She then told us that we should let her know if we wanted to try anything on. We took down a dress and brought it up to her and said Can I try this on I want to get a feel for what size I am . She then instructed us to "please not take down anymore of the gowns". I wasn't told this upon entry and found this extremely rude. She then asked me to fill out some paperwork to start with a consultant. I tried on two different sizes before she asked if she could take my measurements to figure out my size. This struck me as odd because I initially told them I wanted to try on a gown to see what size I was. Then the consultant ran around the store finding gowns for me and ended up only finding one in white. I refused to buy the dress it was very plain and it was $399. I came home and searched on davids bridal.com and found the same dress for $99. I would never recommend shopping in store at this location. read more

I'm posting this to warn people about the complete lack of ANY service at all. And DON'T BOTHER BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT. I booked an appointment for 1230. My sister and I showed up, waited at the wedding service desk for 10 minutes, was then told to announce ourselves at the cashier. After waiting another 10 minutes (there was a pissed off customer we then told the lady that we were just going to go ahead and look in the racks ' if she could please come find us there. After a full 40 minutes of NO SERVICE, my sister and I just grabbed a few dresses and helped ourselves to a change room. This would have been fine, if I had known beforehand (as Holly T aptly describes it as a winners type place). But then, why bother offering appointments? I did find the dress I wanted, but not in my size, was unable to flag anyone down to help me with that. So - after an hour+ of no service, - my sister and I left as we had a narrow window of shopping time with my sleeping baby nephews at home with/grandma. Having said that - I'm going to the Edmonton location when it opens. They DO have a great selection of cheap dresses. Just don't expect any customer service. read more

My experience at THIS David's bridal location was absolutely amazing. Please take note that I am saying THIS location, because i had a terrible experience at another one. The consultant who helped me was FANTASTIC and the manager was AMAZING. I went in, without an appointment, on a Saturday, during the $99 sale. I assumed they'd be too busy to see me, but as luck would have it I only had to wait about 15 minutes. I told the consultant right away that I already had my actual wedding gown, and i was just looking for a fun reception dress to put on closer to the end of the evening and that I would like to get one of the dresses on sale. These consultants are paid on commission, so I would not have been shocked if she had rushed me a little knowing she wasn't going to be making much off the sale. Instead, she treated me like I was the only person in the store. She pulled tons of dresses, looked online to check other available styles that I was interested in, and did not for a moment make me feel like I wasn't a priority. The manager came over at one point to check and see how I was doing, and she was also wonderful. She was very interested in helping the consultants and not into up-selling me on anything. I cannot make comment on the alterations department or bridesmaid dresses, because I did not have anything to do with either of these, but I would without a doubt say that if you are looking for a wedding dress, this is a place worth taking the time to go and check out. read more

Back in July I placed a order for my bridesmaid dress. I called every week for the last 3 weeks to see if the dress was in. Every time I called I was fluffed off and never given a straight answer they always told me it would be in the next shipment every time I called. Less then 1 week from the wedding I still didn't have the dress. At this point I was a little upset because I ordered the dress in enough time and all of the other bridesmaid received there dress within 2 months of ordering. Luckily I was able to speak with Lisa and she was able to help me out. She didn't leave me feeling like I was just some annoying customer on the phone. Very poor customer service. Vapid awareness of basic principles of treating customers as valued human beings. My experience: I called ahead, stated I was thinking to drive up to Ottawa from Kingston (2.5hrs min driving at rush hour) to look at dresses that very afternoon. I stressed the circumstances were an urgent need for particular dresses. I asked for specific sizes (6,12,14) and specific colour of a particular model of dress. The lady on the phone was pleasant enough, and I was told they were available. When I got there and looked around, the requested sizes in said colour were no where to be found. I requested assistance, thinking perhaps they'd been set aside in anticipation. No such luck. Nor was I to recieve a credible apology or admission of the poor customer service practises. At bare minimum a believable admission of their mistake was required and an apology. As an aside, the dresses were of adequately poor quality. Not worth their stick price except for the supposed convenience. I would high suggest shopping elsewhere and would encourage David's at Ottawa to review with staff basic tenants of both customer service and treating humans as though they are, you know, human. read more

The first time I went in I was greeted by a young lady that asked if I had an appointment. I did not but asked to look around. I asked the same girl how long the $20 off bridesmaid dress sale was on for, she told me the end of the month. Then, when I left, I asked for a card, she stared at me and then widened her eyes as though I was speaking to her in a different language and as though I was about the most annoying person on the planet. Then she got me a card, paused, and went back to her magazine. Not impressed. I still spoke to the bride and we went in. At that point, Faneeza was our consultant. Wow what a difference!! She was so helpful, friendly and attentive that I was really impressed. They have a great selection of dresses at very affordable prices. They also have every style available in all sizes to try on, instead of trying to fit into something too big and have it pinned or too small and feeling embarrassed. This is fantastic and not typical of most stores and a very good idea. The $20 off sale was over though, despite it not yet being the end of the month. Thanks nameless girl from first visit. Despite that, we found a great dress at a very good price and it has been ordered. Lets hope everything comes in as planned and all ends happily. read more

My experience at David's Bridal was alright, but admittedly, I wasn't too convinced I would find what I was looking for there to begin with. I'm mostly writing this review to commend my awesome consultant Melissa - I came in with a bit of a challenge (looking for a contemporary, casual wedding dress - something I learned didn't exist in abundance at DB) and Melissa took the challenge head on. She was a great listener, and very receptive to trying to adapt to what I had in mind. She pulled gowns that were most fitting my vision, and while I ultimately ended up finding something elsewhere, I really appreciated her friendly, easy-going nature. She has a great manner of communicating with customers, and clearly knows her stock well - amazing service! read more

I came to this place to get my prom dress with my friend and was very well greeted. One of the employees that helped me a lot was Fatemeh, which I recommend going to. She was very kind, patient and nice to both of us, regardless of our age. As for the dresses, I found that there were not many different styles ( that I liked) but with the help of my friend and Fatemeh, I found a wonderful dress that I never thought would be my style, but it was. The price of the dress was very reasonable. Anyways I gave four stars because of the great work of the employee and the experience that I got from there. Also, I'd recommend to put some mirrors and chairs inside the changing rooms to make the changing process easier. read more

David's Bridal has lots of pros and some cons. If you're looking for a personal, calm and 'bride-centric' experience, this may not be the place for you...unless you go on a weekday morning. If you love good deals and want to try on a lot of different dresses at once and don't mind a bit of chos, this is the place for you. Its like the difference between shopping at Pom Pom in the Glebe and Winners...both have great stuff and good deals but they are two totally different experiences. I had exactly the experience I was expecting from this type of store and I bought a wonderful dress here. That said, I'm also not the type of bride that needs to be the centre of attention and fed champagne during a dress shopping experience....if that's what you like, you may want to try somewhere else. read more
