Dr. Lauren Carlson,is so kind. She explains things ,making easier to comprehend. And takes time to listen and her staff is always courteous.

This review is for the office staff ONLY, not the medical staff. I get a med check and blood draw every three months. I make those appointments well ahead of time. Day before my scheduled appointment I get a text showing my 9:00am appt. A little later I get a voicemail indicating I needed to change which PA would see me - no problem. I call in, change docs. Arrive at my appointment ON TIME. I wait an hour, watching people go in, people who arrived after me go in. I go to desk, she says, your appointment is for 10:30. I say no, the text and voicemail said 9:00. The woman sitting in the scheduling chair turns and says (not to me) I called her but I don't know who she spoke to when she called back. I return to my seat, find the voicemail that says 9:00, go up and show the desk clerk and the scheduling woman doesn't let me finish and says AGAIN, not to me, I CALLED HER IT WAS 10:30! Here's the thing, I'm going to wait no matter what, I need the meds and blood draw. We all make mistakes, myself included, a little courtesy from either clerk, an apology, (sorry for the confusion) would have been appreciated. I work in customer service and the attitude, tone, and behavior of the scheduling woman would be something they could be fired for at another institution . To have that experience at the doctor is enough to give me pause to change doctors. Very disappointing and leaves a very bad taste in regards to this office. read more

I must say, the 1-star fits perfectly. I should have read these reviews before moving to this office. The comment about each symptom requires separate is what I found out also. Anyone practicing like this should have their license revoked, along with the uncouth PA wanting to be a doctor. If you don't regard people as humans, maybe this isnt the profession for you. I will definitely not be going back to this office. All they want to do is write prescriptions. This office is in a run-down strip mall, yes, I'm judging this book by its cover. The PA, looked horrible for a medical professional. Went in for a follow-up and med change, I had some sort of stomach issue the day before my appt and she said I need to make a separate appt before I do that, I will go somewhere else. read more

This a clinic. this clinic treats basic things. you may only present with one symptom at this clinic. The front desk staff are notoriously rude. You will be treated by a PA. They are like a revolving door. you never know who you will see. you will find extra charges on your bill, always. I was publicly shamed about an old diagnosis, called fat and had things on my chart yelled out in fri t of others. I had never see. the doctor before but had gone there for over 6 years. be very careful if you decide to go to this clinic. it's all about greed here. read more

I don't know if this still holds true but as a Medicare patient I could only report 1 symptom. If I had multiple symptoms I had to schedule individual appts for each symptom. I've never had any other doctor do this. Scared me off permanently. read more

Dr Carlson has great bedside manner, unfortunately that's where anything good about this facility ends. His staff is incompetent, disrespectful, and talks over you whether you're on the phone with them or in person. They always think they are right. I went to Dr Carlson in July for a referral for a UT Southwestern specialist. The visit with Carlson went great, I showed him from my phone and the places website where I wanted the referral to. He wrote it down very carefully and handed it off to his nurse. After he left the room, she said it wasn't in their database, so she will add it tomorrow since it takes extra time to add a new place. Now it's November and I have still yet to get the right referral. Countless calls to dr Carlsons office after I've talked to the brain institute, explaining in detail what they need to put in the referral to be faxed. Each time they've gotten it wrong. I live in a different city now and can't just go up there to handle this. So I've been at the mercy of these front desk people and his nurse. It's been an absolutely horrible experience. To top it off, this isn't even the worst experience I've had at this office. This is just the most recent. After two calls with Carlson's nurse this morning of her speaking over me and telling me I'm wrong and that I have the wrong information etc, I hung up on her (which I never do), and told her I would be going elsewhere. She called me back with a much calmer attitude and did everything I had asked of them months ago in one phone call. Yes, I'm glad she fixed the problem at hand, but I'm furious that it took that long and that level of frustration from a patient for her to simply take a look at a chart and do her job. I will never recommend this place and never be going back here. It's too bad, like I said, Carlson seems great. But the people he let's work in his office, front desk people, techs, nurses, etc....they're tarnishing is reputation of what could be a great doctor office. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Carlson for 5+ years. I turned everyone on in my family to him and a couple of friends as well. I have never ask Dr. Carlson's office for medical records. Unfortunately, today I had to. I needed copies of 4 office visits so that I could have surgery next week. I apologized to the lady I spoke with because I didn't give them any notice, but it was beyond my control, and I really needed their help. I had to go to the office to get them and even then it was like pulling teeth. According to HIPPA I have "rights to access" my medical records, it just shouldn't be this hard! Dr. Carlson has decided to charge his patients a flat rate of $32.50 for copies. I only needed copies of 4 visits. It cost me, $8.13 per visit to get what HIPPA says is mine already (copies that is). They also charge $10 to obtain a pain prescription, just the prescription, not the medicine itself. Dr. Carlson is the ONLY doctor I have even been to that does this. The staff in his office are rude. Patients are not their priority, money is. I agree with Meredith H. read more

4/10/18 Had a much better experience today and Marcie put in my request for MRI immediately which is greatly appreciated when you're in pain. Thank you Tina and thank you Dr. Carlson for seeing me so quickly. 2/28/19 Love Dr Lauren But the office staff here can be so great or so rude. This morning Norma was so rude to me. I made an appointment for a leg pain and she was telling me I would have to pay $118 to see the dr and they found this out yesterday that my co pay was used up. So I told her this was new need to me and she looked at me with no emotion and I asked why didn't the office call me to let me know and she said without a care in the world," We assume you know you should know your health benefits." Like I should have known what my insurance told them yesterday like I'm telepathic. Oct 28 2019 So very disappointed with my visit today. I liked using the Online system to schedule my appointment this morning when I wasn't feeling well and got an appointment for 10 AM and the girl at the front desk was very nice. I was taken back pretty quickly and had an OK experience with Michelle. She doesn't have the best bedside manner she's kind of rushing you and doesn't seem very personable but it was OK. She never asked me about my present medication. When I got to see Dr. Lauren she was very nice and has a wonderful bedside manner. I had to get x-rays and different tests which ended up costing me about $240 plus I had to pay $50 when I signed in. But I'm so disappointed that once I left and went to Walgreens to pick up my prescriptions I was told that Dr. Carlson's office would have to renew my other medication which seems like an easy thing since I just left. So I called them and the lady in the office with the tattooed eyebrows (I apologize but I can't remember her name ) she told me that since my appointment was for my illness and not a medicine prescription renewal appointment that they couldn't renew my prescriptions even though I had literally just been there and I've been on this medication for quite a long time. I was truly taken back that even though I had just been there and paid $290 and they just taken my blood pressure they knew that my medication was working that they couldn't renew the prescription over the phone and were telling me I would have to come back and pay more money for another appointment at another time when I had literally just been there 10 minutes ago. It really makes me feel like I'm being taken advantage of and that it's truly a racket. Why couldn't Michelle go over my history of meds they prescribe me when she was profiling me ? Why didn't Dr. Lauren? It seems like if they prescribe it to me regularly that they would see it had expired and was time to renew. They did not treat me like a person but just a number -it's all about money here. The priority is not healing or caring but what they can make $$$$$. Furthermore I had hesitated to post this but back in June , 2019 I was confronted by Dr. Carlson when he had read my yelp reviews of the challenges I had had at his office and he basically tried to intimidate me or humiliate me at the end of my appointment and said that if I didn't like his office then I shouldn't return. He was very condescending in his tone and he said all this in front of a male nurse he was training and I thought it was very unprofessional of him to be so angry with me just because I had posted my experience on yelp. He demanded that I take all the pictures down, So I did. But I left my reviews. I hesitated to post this because I want to be taken care of but I also want to share my true experience. Sometimes people in business are willing to see where they can improve and read the reviews objectively but him - not so much. He was angry about them and didn't hesitate to communicate that with me. But to return to my present story today , so after leaving the office, I was at Walgreens at 11:30 this morning and Dr. Carlson's office knew I needed that prescription for my heart medicine and they called In a 30 day supply of the WRONG heart medicine again! Luckily the pharmacist caught their mistake again and this is the second time they have done this . So I had to wait again for them to fix their error but now they were at lunch so I had to leave Walgreens and at 3:30 PM I called again and Lauren assured me that she would talk to Dr. Lauren and the nurses and help me but now when I called back again at 4:15 they no longer answer their phones. it took the office from 11:30-4:30pm to correct the mistake. I'm at home now and can't drive because I don't feel well so it's just an unfortunate day of events but very disappointed the women and doctors in charge of billing or whoever is truly in charge of billing are not more reasonable with this kind situation. Doctor Carlson is great but unfortunately his office staff and nurses are the reason we are leaving him behind. My wife has been trying to get them to send a proper referral for several months now and they can't seem to get it right nor care when we call and ask for their help of sending over a referral that we paid them money to receive. Horrible staff. Visit at your own risk. Too bad a hard working doctor has to lose patients over terrible staff. read more

The person who scheduled my appointment was polite and helpful, or so I thought. In scheduling my appointment, I thought I had booked a checkup with the possibility of a medicine review. Also, I informed the office of an insurance change, but the lady I spoke to said they accepted my insurance. Wrong. Wrong! Wrong! According to the extremely rude and racist front desk staff who accused me of not understanding English in Texas because I thought a checkup and a physical was the same thing, neither my appointment was valid (because they only do physicals, not checkups, but on different days) nor was my insurance accepted! THIS place... is pathetic. Literally came in with cash in hand. First didn't want to see me because I was 17 mins late. I had called 10 mins prior to my appt cuz I was stuck in traffic. Then! wanted to charge me $180 for a "consultation." I asked what all that entailed.. getting an actual answer was worse than stubbing your toe! After a couple rounds of let's see how many ways we can say the same thin..I finally said "Are they going to do anything besides sit and talk to me? Will I be helped? Or am I just paying for a conversation, then every single tidbit of anything is only given with a paid fee, yes or no?and she said "yeah, if I wanna see it like that." BYEEE. I've been seeing Dr Carlson all of my life and I'm 31 and my kids go to him now I absolutely love him and his staff

My family and I just moved to Garland from Florida. I had a great Doctor there. I looked around the area and found Dr. Carlson's practice. It's very close to where we live. I went in on a Saturday morning - first time patient walk-in. Lobby was nice and clean. The front desk person was super nice and super helpful. I filled out the paper work and within minutes was seen. The back of the office is insanely nice, and it's much bigger than it looks from outside. The nurse was very nice. The PA came in within minutes and was super helpful, and answered all my questions. I didn't feel like I was being rushed either. My experience there was really great. I look forward to a long relationship with them. read more

This clinic has been serving the DFW community for 25+ years for a reason, and Medicare/elder patients, as well as all age ranges and families have made this clinic their home clinic. Dr. Carlson is patient, takes his time evaluating and explaining, every single visit. He is very professional and still warm and kind. When and if you happen to follow up (as they will want to) he always remembers me! I've also had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. Lauren who is very professional, caring, and knowledgeable. Not sure how exactly this place in business the staff are extremely unprofessional, I brought my mother in and we were charged and additional $100 which was billed at a later day because the doctors visit had gone on for 10 minutes more than anticipated. So that's $180 + $100 just for a visit and they couldn't even get my mothers labs done that day, we had to come back the next day and pay $400 for labs, not to mention I personally had to stand at the teller for 30 minutes just to get checked out. Oh boy.. it's sad to see those bad reviews. This review is for the PA Josanne Howard, the lovely lady who administers injections, and all the staff I interacted with. (I have had no interactions with Dr.Carlson himself so cannot give any opinion on him.) If you are a walk in, yes there will be a bit of a wait; since they usually have a solid flow of people with appointments. That said, the service I have received over the years has always been excellent. These ladies see you at your worst and they do a great job of taking care of you with compassion and kindness. I love Dr Carlson and his staff. They are very thorough. I've been going there ever since my kids were young and I'm still going and I'm 66.

Extremely disappointed and frustrated with this doctors office. I have gone to this doctor for the last 15 years and it has just gotten worse and worse. You schedule an appointment anyway an hour and a half before you're still even seen or they leave you in a room For that period of time with no update or anything. I got a new insurance over a year ago so when I went to go get a physical and some screenings done I was asked for my new insurance, it was provided to them and this was in November 2020. Here we are in July 2021 and I receive a bill for $1112 because apparently my insurance didn't pay for anything. As I'm reading the bill it's not even my correct insurance and I'm confused as to why am receiving this bill so long after my initial appointment. I called the doctors office and I asked them what the deal is and I tell them that this isn't my insurance I haven't had this insurance in over a year and is there anyway that I can provide my current insurance that I did have at the time that way this ridiculous bill goes away. I am told that no it Hass to be done within 60 days of the bill, but yet I didn't even receive the bill until May 2021. So I asked her why that is and she told me that they had to get a new billing department because the one that they had was not doing what they were supposed to be doing, Whatever that means. So now I have to suffer and pay an $1100 bill because their billing department wasn't doing their job. For every doctors appointment I'm always asked to hand my insurance over and if it's a regular doctor they usually know within me paying my co-pay. Why did I pay a co-pay if my insurance didn't work or wasn't active, this doesn't make sense. Also if I would've gotten a bill within a timely manner it could've been disputed and I could've provided the insurance that I did and do you have and wouldn't have to pay this money. I am officially set up with his office and their staff. I will never be coming back to this doctor and I am extremely mad at the way their front desk is handling the situation. Does anyone know if they will send this bill to collections? Trying to decide whether I need to call them back and try to dispute it with someone above the front desk or see if they have an actual billing department I can talk to or just never come back and not pay it because this is their fault and they don't want to take the blame. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Carlson several years and always had positive experience until recently. The office staff is less than helpful and even uninformed. They put you on hold a long time and when they do answer are quick to conclude why you are calling and don't listen to what you need. I was here years ago with my Mom and the office and Dr. Carlson were very rude! I am surprised they are still open.

If I could give a zero star rating I would! The first few times I went to this office, Best Care Family Medicine, I was impressed and even considered switching to them as a primary care doctor! 4 visits is where that impressed feeling stopped! I saw 2 physician's assistants and requested to see Dr. Carlson, but they refused to let me schedule an appointment with him. The office staff is currently kicking out patients and forcing them to be seen outside in the heat and are afraid of anyone being in their office! I have never been treated with so much disrespect from a medical office. You can't even talk to the office manager without talking to 3-5 other people who keep forgetting that they put you on hold and then you get the same disrespectful and most unprofessional attitude from each and every one of the office workers and the medical assistants! They also state on their website that they are an urgent care provider, but they must be like CNN because that's definitely fake and false information! Watch your insurance charges from this office as well as they are billing some quite interesting and unknown charges! The RN (I don't know her title, maybe RN, she happens to be a hispanic gal) she usually pulls the blood etc, she has EVERY TIME displayed BAD attitude, for no reason, to polite customers. That (RN?) foot-stomping stormy attitude seems she hates her job/employer but she takes it out on polite customers. Unfortunately that (RN?) gal also protects the front desk lazy girls who lost appointments too often - as pointed out by plenty of other reviewers on here by other customers who stopped going here. Receptionist at window ignores waiting customers even when customers had signed in & sat obvious in front of receptionist for over an hour. That's too bad because the P.A.s here are each nice excellent & sweet attitudes! The nice P.A.s here are outweighed by how bad the front desk & that (RN?) are whom actually run this place. The problem is that if you here, you must go thru that RN & the inept girls in the files area front desk, they'll raise your blood pressure before you see any P.A./doctor. Go elsewhere. A side note: I live in Dallas area since decades ago & I dont know why Yelp lists me as in California instead of allowing me to update location. read more

They don't even bother answering the phone and when they do, they put you on hold and never come back. I'm very disappointed and would not recommend this place at all. I am 12 year patient Dr Carlson has always been good doctor. Recently however his office staff "Misplaces" and often cancels appointments with no notice. Their attitudes and lack of personal responsibility far outway the positive of Dr. Carlson's treatment. I would not recommend this doctor. read more

Doctor David Carson is a great doctor but his receptionists so disrespect, rude . when you call you can feel that they are very curt ready for a verbal fight, when you meet them in person they dont even look into you eyes when they talk to you. I see the review below and you know If your a new patient and your not used to a doctor who CARES....then you might feel a Dr is rude when they are telling you to be serious about your health. And judging him on his hair shouldn't matter but by his levels of care and dedication to your illnesses would be a better way to review. But Dr. Carlson is NOT rude at all. There isn't an oz of bone in him that I have ever seen that way. Hes straight forward and honest and cares a lot about his patients. He remembers about their family and tells it like it is to the patient. He has a humor and I can't boast enough about him and his staff. They are all on top of it. Prifessional,Sweet, courteous, customers service is suberb!!Calling back, calling in prescriptions. I liked him so much I transferred my in-laws there so I can my parents and in-laws under one DR that listens to my concerns genuinely. Yes there are times that you might be waiting for your appointment but once you see him you will inderstand. He really is a Dr for the people. He practices with his heart. And you can see that through his staff and through his eyes. I have been very impressed by the care both sets of parents have received at this office. Young and old will be pleased. Also they have 2 amazing PA's as well. I can't thank them enough on helping me take care of 2 set of parents. When you walk into the clinic you will notice he is just a family man by his family pics and avid collector of all things COOL. I only pray God continues to bless this establishment. read more

I love this doctors office. They are efficient and courteous and the staff is completely prepaired in every position. They have the ability to treat whatever the issue is including X-Rays and they do not try to pump you full of unneeded meds or surgeries that can be avoided. Dr. Carlson is a terrible excuse for a doctor and is only in it for the money. My parents have been seeing Dr. Carlson for over 25 years. They recently moved to Kaufman but decided not to change doctors since they had been going there for so long. My dad has a baseball sized mass grow on the backside of his pelvic bone and was in severe pain so Dr. Carlson ordered a biopsy. A week later, Dr. Carlson called my dad over the phone to tell him that he had cancer. How insensitive is that?!? 2 weeks later and we are still waiting on an oncologist referral and my dad is still in severe pain. Dr. Carlson refused to call in a prescription for pain meds and wanted my dad to drive all the way from Kaufman to pick up the prescription, just to make sure he could collect the $10 prescription fee. $10 for a prescription?!?! I have never in my life heard of a Doctor charging for a prescription, anything to make a buck I guess, just heartless! read more

Chose another doctor - Dr. Carlson is great however, he has the worst office staff in the metroplex. I have used him for almost a decade and it pains me to see the direction the office is going. If you go here make sure you check your billing....make sure you're not billed for dates of service that you weren't there - and billed for things you didn't have - this happens often. The office manager Carol is horrendous and doesn't know what she is doing and is clearly incompetent. If you don't value customer service and are happy with fraudulent billing this is the place to go. read more
