The store is filled with collectibles: furniture, pottery, lamps, art, '50s dresses. Well-priced ..... considering it IS Manhattan. A particular painting caught my eye. With no more space in my apartment -- the walls are filled! -- I was thinking of a friend. Art is personal. Never a good gift idea. What I love, most people don't. Except my daughter whose artistic taste frequently jives with mine. The proprietor directed me to their website, which showcases items in their warehouse as well as what's in the shop. furnishgreen.com Well, the original oil (from the Democratic Republic of the Congo) isn't what my friend is looking for. She said it would work for her house in Colorado, but not her studio in NY. Oh well. I tried. Check 'em out!

Highly recommend this family-owned business!…read more From my first warm call with Adam's sister to getting quick text replies to various questions and an in-home appointment just two days later, the service was outstanding. This beats the hell out of schlepping silver to random Diamond District shops comparing offers. Been there, done that, nothing friendly about it. Left feeling stressed out and probably ripped off. In contrast, meeting Adam was a absolute pleasure. He's authentic, knowledgeable, and clearly an expert in his field. The process was smooth, transparent, and surprisingly interesting. He explained exactly how he arrived at his offers and paid me well above my expectations. Couldn't be happier--six stars up for Syl-Lee Antiques. Just call them.

(HE IS A CONMEN) I have amazing Chinese antiques, some of which are from the 11th.C Ming dynasty and and older, porcelain & clay pottery. I know what I have and the value they hold. He tried telling me that these items aren't real. He started to twist the narrative around, and pretty much BS me from the start! I wasn't having it.. I also showed him a pair of French lithographs from 17thC. Again he said these were fake, but good copies. What does that mean!! lol When I went to show him the certificate of authenticity of most of my items, he said..... Ready? ANYONE CAN FAKE COPIES OF AUTHENTICITY. My brain blew up with great anger, you could see smoke coming out of my ears. Mind you!!! The lithographs certificates were appraised in 1972 from a well respected company in NYC, ( no longer there) and!!! The paper was on the yellow side, showing age, and he still said they were fake. I forgot to mention this, before I showed him proof of authenticity he wanted to buy everything I showed him for a few hundred dollars. What the heck! Is this guy for real! He doesn't even know anything about antiques, rugs, furniture Are you kidding me!! That when I showed proof. He continued to try and tell me BS. I wasn't haven it!!! I hope you folks don't get caught up with this conmen. Good luck! And be wise.

On my last visit, my boyfriend and I happened upon a boldly patterned red and black fabric. We admired it from afar, and vowed to return to purchase it for upholstery purposes. I made sure to accompany the man to make sure it was a good fabric for the job, and it was PERFECT - thick and not too stretchy. I felt so fortunate. The owner is super friendly and obviously loves his business. I am excited to see if he stocks any more fabric (there were only two patterns) and to one day have enough money to purchase a credenza or some supa slick chairs!
