Excellent music teacher! He does it all - guitar, bass, drums, keys, horns, sitar, shovel guitar, spoons (probably), who knows what else? Got to see him in action as a student in standard lessons and in a combo, where he helps students play together with other musicians - an invaluable tool to anyone interested in learning music. He does a great job of meeting students where they are musically, and helps them to grow and build confidence as performers. read more

Our son has been doing lessons with David for over two months now and we all have had a fantastic experience. David is well-rounded and teaches many instruments, which gives him a great advantage with instructing how to perform in an ensemble. David often plays with his students to give them that experience while learning particular skills or pieces. David also has a wonderful laid-back and creative approach to teaching. He teaches the core skills and structure but also allows space for riffing and just having fun with the instruments. I feel this has made a huge difference in our son's experience. His confidence and joy has soared learning with David and he eagerly looks forward to his lessons. Thank you, David! read more

David is a most excellent teacher. He was able to see my potential as a musician and help develop that in ways I could have never known. This is something the best teachers do. Not just impart knowledge but see what knowledge will resonate with the student and teach them that! Not to mention he is incredibly knowledgeable in just about every way in many styles, instruments, etc. read more

I have been taking guitar lessons from David for a few years now. I consider him to be like a music genius. Music has been part of his whole life since a kid, college, bands, etc. and his depth of knowledge is extraordinary. He understand the intricacies of music theory and can explain it at every level. He plays many instruments so he comes with first hand experience on how to play them. One powerful teaching tool he uses is gathering students at similar skill levels and letting them play together, in a band, and coaches every one along the way. He really helps to elevate my skill and comfort with playing in front of other people. Highly recommended. read more

I would highly recommend David for any musical endeavors! He has taught both my kids, age 7 and 12, to love and appreciate learning guitar and piano. I love his approach to having fun and letting the kids explore!. He has set the seed in my kids to pursue and love music for the rest of their lives! read more

I highly recommend David Schnittman. He teaches all the instruments, which is great for curious students and makes for some amazing ensembles. David is also incredible with children. He is especially skilled with students who have special needs. All of his students enjoy learning, and the safe space he creates for them makes this mama's heart happy. My three children have taken French Horn, trombone, bass, drum, and/or vocal instruction with David on and off for the past seven years. When they need instruments, he helps us find them. When they want to try something new, he supports their curiosity. When they lose interest and take a break, he welcomes them back without any grief. David is truly a local treasure. He's one of our all-time-favorite teachers and a great mentor for students and their families. read more

Dave has successfully navigated Covid and online lessons! My son did not miss a lesson and has continued to have the same full, enriching guitar experience. I appreciate having lessons remain consistent through such a challenging last year. My son's love of playing and music appreciation continues to progress through weekly lessons with Dave. Highly recommend Dave for all ages! read more

I have to chime in here again on David. I started taking lessons with him about a year ago. One of the goals I had was to be able to sit in with a group and at least be able to strum/play along. I don't think I ever really believed I could ever do it. I had little faith in my ability to learn as an over 50 adult. We moved a week ago to an adult community. Today, I joined a "jam session" with the Musicians group. I was able to sit in and play along for most of the songs, and not feel out of place or intimidated. When it came my turn to pick/lead a song, I was able to pick a couple of songs we had been doing at David's, and everyone joined in and played along. It was so cool... and I mean really, I never believed that I could do this! Thank-you David! You are the best! read more

David is a wonderful music teacher and coach for children and adults! He can teach students how to play just about any instrument, he can teach music theory, he can provide a customized learning experience (individual lessons, group lessons, performance opportunities, etc.) These days, during covid restrictions, he is offering very effective online zoom classes, too. It is rare to find an instructor who can find the right individualized approach to help so many different students reach their musical goals. If you are looking for a music instructor in the Morgan Hill area, I highly recommend David Schnittman! read more

I highly recommend Mr. S. He is very knowledgeable in teaching music ,any instrument , you name it. My 9 year old son started learning how to play the drums and then later transitioned to the ukulele. I was very impressed to see and hear him play both! Mr. S incorporates music theory with his lessons. He also puts on these two amazing concerts every year displaying all of his students talents with their instruments. He is an excellent musician and teacher. I am lucky to have found him and recommend. You will not be disappointed. read more

My son loves his drum classes! He was always interested in drums but didn't really want to go to lessons because he thought he wouldn't like it. Turns out, he loves it! David is very patient, engaging and I personally love the fact that there is both a private lesson aspect as well as a group lesson! We get the best of both worlds. We thought we were going to have to choose, one or the other but we got both by going with David! We highly recomend him! read more

I highly recommend Dave Schnittman! My 16 year old son wanted to take guitar lessons. He had lessons when he was much younger, that focused on reading music and the teacher did not know how to connect and teach children. Since this experience, my son and I were somewhat apprehensive to try lessons again. I researched teachers in Morgan Hill and I care across Dave's Yelp page. The reviews were enough to convince me to call him and learn more. From my first call, I have been truly impressed! Dave listened and understood our concerns and explained his philosophy of teaching children to learn to love playing music first and foremost. What I thought may be a few lessons over the summer turned into so many since. Dave and my son have truly connected. I have enjoyed each car ride home from lessons hearing what they talked about, how to play new cords, songs and my son's new appreciation for classic rock socks. He recently built a new, spacious studio too! Give Dave a call, you won't be disappointed! read more

When I first met and heard David Schnittman at a jazz club, I knew he has been on the block and back. David Schnittman is a knowledgable teacher and musician that is well versed in all musical styles. He understands the jazz language and is able to decipher the mystery behind playing great solos. He has been an inspiring teacher in the Morgan Hill Area. I have heard his students before who have been apart of various jazz camps around town and they all know the music well. When I have any theory questions, I can ask David and he will give me a wide variety of answers in a clear and concise way. He has so much knowledge. Highly recommended. read more
