I get the poor reviews for this Dr! My husband was in Aventura Hospital last week with a kidney issue so Dr Robbins was called in to address it. We had been waiting 3 days for this Dr to come, so every time I left the room I told my husband to call me if the doctor came since my husband is 75 yo and has difficulty recalling details. When Dr Robbins arrived that day I had just left the room but was still downstairs when my husband called. He put me on speaker but Dr Robbins told my husband he had no interest in speaking with me on the phone nor would he wait for me to come back up to the room. I was literally back in the room within a minute but Dr Robbins was gone. The nurse even had him paged (we heard it) but Dr Robbins never responded. I have worked in healthcare for 44 years and have never come across such a disrespectful and unprofessional physician! On top of that all Dr Robbins did was to tell my husband to see his Uro upon dx from the hospital. Every physician takes an oath to "first do no harm", but with the disregard in which Dr Robbins treated my husband he certainly does not live up to that creed. read more

Paid $250 for an initial consultation to get a Dr to run down a checklist and show noticeable annoyance with follow up questions about a life-changing Vasectomy operation. I ended up asking only 5 questions before leaving and at the 2nd and 3rd questions with regards to pain and patients following up months to years later with any issues, I was advised to read the online reviews, no joke, i was advised to read the online reviews and do some thinking to assess my commitment for the procedure. My initial question around pain was how long does recovery take, here I informed the doctor that I do Kickboxing. He, showing noticeable annoyance, stated that he can't say and that he typically tells everyone 5 days but "obviously if you may need more time if Kickboxing". Yeah, no shit. That is obvious, that's why I'm asking you for your specialized knowledge and experience to provide an estimate during a consultation. Folks you can't make this shit up, I was shocked given the positive reviews on Google but such is the norm these days with 'Google Reviews'. I wasn't asking this doctor difficult questions, mind you it was less than 5 for a damn vasectomy not a dental visit. Super basic and standard questions for a $250 consultation using self-pay, yet i get shrugs, i don't knows, and check online reviews. So I asked: can you provide a 'give or take' how much extra recovery time for Kickboxing? Porn stars typically get this procedure done right? (Since he acted like he couldn't answer a basic question about returning to rigorous exercise after such a procedure I had to use this as an example to see if I could get some kind of estimate) "Let's say I am a porn star, performing rigorously, how soon would you advise I can get back to work?" He shrugs and replies 5 days. (Not a response you'd expect from an experienced doctor, such as: 'Absolutely, I understand your concern, I have many patients that typically engage in rigorous exercise routines and although I do recommend 5 days of no activity, you may require an additional week or two to be on the safe side :)'. No. Just a shrug, idk 5 days, blank stare.... The other 3 questions were answered with the same attitude until I realized this doctor had no desire to be helpful and was looking for a 'monkey patient' to simply come in hear his initial checklist of explanations and respond: Great doc, when do we start!? That's precisely what you want another, in a doctor. I don't need a friendly practitioner who feels compelled to chat. Answer my questions? Sure. Talk about Sunday's game? Nope. Fact is, I don't let a lot of docs touch, poke, or prod me. It was his demeanor and acceptance of my quirks (yup. I've got 'em) that enabled me to give him permission to get me into an operating room and vaporize one of my man parts without fear. (What!? No kidding! He vaporized a part near my very favorite "man part!") And though I was terrified of the pain I imagined "little me" would suffer, he remained quiet and confident. He didn't try to convince me one way or another, and without my knowledge, he took special precautions to shield me from the excruciating pain I feared. Fun fact: my operation yielded no pain! Yeah, I have a business to operate, and I didn't like sitting in the waiting or examination rooms because he was late for our appointments. I've been known to walk out of doctors' offices for that. But I realized I found an excellent doctor and, for reasons unbeknownst to me, I like him. He's a cordial, straight-shootin' kinda guy. And he's worth waiting for (although nobody who operates a business should make customers wait so long. And FYI, medicine is a business). Dr. Robbins was my third urologist over the course of many years of unresolved prostate issues, and I am delighted to say he resolved them. He was one of my wife's doctor. Both she and my primary doctor described him as handsome, and as almost an afterthought, each stated he was an excellent doctor. I made an appointment, and after assuming the position, dropping my pants, hearing the terrifying snap of his rubber glove, and a high-ho silver, away, Doc Handsome made his presence known to me. "You have a very large prostate. No lumps," Dr. Robbins said. Dr. Robbins went on to discuss the pros and cons of various procedures, all of which involved sticking something inside of me to reduce the size of my prostate. Before we could make a final decision, he needed to have a looksee to make sure I was a good candidate for the various procedures. Wait! Did I say procedures? Let's call them what they are--surgeries. When an anesthesiologist knocks you out in a hospital, a surgeon sticks something inside of you, and removes part of your body, it's surgery. (Apologies. I write humorous science fiction & fantasy, so sometimes my keyboard has a mind of it's own.) After Doc Handsome performed a cystoscopy, which was quick and barely uncomfortable, I signed up for a Green Light Laser Partial Prostatectomy. Sounds fun, right? It's not for your prostate, but that's a good thing. Basically the handsome, excellent doctor sticks a laser up your penis. The laser emits light at a frequency which boils the blood inside your prostate, killing off the overgrown prostate tissue which is squeezing the crap out of your urethra, and stopping you from peeing. The operation isn't bad. You are sedated, and it takes all of 30 minutes. You wake up with a catheter, which remains in for up to three glorious days, schlepping around a bag of bloody urine strapped to your leg. It's then a month or two of slightly burning urination whilst peeing out tiny bits of body parts. Tissue, and blood, and urine, Oh My! It doesn't hurt, it's just a little freaky. This is your body's way of shedding the inner parts of the prostate which were ravaged, but in a good way, by the magical laser. All that sucks, but here's the good part. Two months later, after 5 years of pain, worrying I had cancer, and dribbling, painful urination, thankfully, now at 63, I stopped taking 2 urinary drugs I've been taking for years, can drink coffee again, and pee like a teenager. I fact, after the surgery, my wife had to come into the bathroom and ask, "What's all the noise in there?" "Music to my ears, my love," was my happy reply. All kidding aside, Dr. Robbins is an excellent physician. He has superior knowledge of many techniques and even teaches them. He is caring and compassionate. My name is Alfredo V. I am 69 years old and in good physical and mental health. Do not go to Dr. Robbins. He will tell you he "will take care of you" but he does not. He has a God complex. After 50+ years I know how my body was before he operated on me. Dr. Robbins says I do not......He thinks he knows everything when he does not. When confronted with reality he will say "on that day it looked like this" so I operated accordingly. He will lie to you to your face and do the exact opposite of what he says. In addition, he threatened me with his result (which is completely unsatisfactory) or "I will reserve the surgery". Beware....get a second opinion. Do not let him operate on you. In addition, unfortunately I have had 31 operations (23 orthopedic surgeries). I have never had a surgeon refuse to correct his mistake until Dr. Robbins. read more
