They did not prep the site low enough to where the back corner was in the air. When I asked them to fix this they said backfilling was not part of the bid, but offer to come back and put the extra gravel around the corner. This mistake requires actual land raising around the corner with fill dirt. This was not a problem with backfilling. The foundation should have never looked like this. I can't believe they left the job "finished" thinking this was ok.

Found large roots sticking out of footers and debris in areas with backfill. Tore up my concrete walls while backfilling basement and patio. I constantly had to get on to them about cleaning out trenches and backfill, and fixing their work before it gets permanently embedded in concrete. I took before-and-after photos of our water line trench and they left large rocks (capable of damaging the pipe) they practically would have had to trip over. They were still present in their same spots before we were ready to fill the trench, after they told me they had cleared the trench. So either they were lying or not very thorough. They also damaged that same water line, saying they "found a bad spot" (actually from them kinking the pipe), a piece they got rid of before I could take a look. Over the course of construction it was very easy to find the trash that had been left scattered about the site or mixed in with the backfill, but no not this one single piece of pipe! That is until I searched the area within throwing distance of the trench and discovered they had damaged it. Once when I asked Colby about the status of corrections needed to slab preparations that had not yet been performed (the night before a county inspection) I was told that they had never received so much oversight before nor problems with passing inspections and they feared we did not trust their work. Um, okay well 1) my goal is not to pass the inspection it is to ensure that the work is done correctly, and 2) no we don't trust you after pouring footers around tree roots, burying trash in the backfill, and not owning up to the damage you cause! First demonstrate that you are competent and that you care, and then you will be trusted.
