We have been on our fertility journey for about two years total and a year and a half of that was with Dr. Tourgeman and his team. As you can imagine, most people never expect to deal with fertility issues and when they have to, it is nerve wracking at best. That being said, we were blessed to have worked with Dr. T, Mei who was my main point of contact, and truly the whole team. Dr. T is not only very professional and knowledgeable, but he's very personable as well and he has a way of putting one at ease. We are forever grateful to Dr. Tourgeman for our precious twins! We loved the convenience of being able to see him at two different offices- West LA and Encino. I was referred to HRC fertility by my OB/GYN and decided to go with Dr. Tourgeman. I researched HRC online and found that they have great success rates. Dr. Tourgeman was patient with us and empathetic during the difficult times. It was always a pleasure to see him and we never felt rushed. We took long breaks in between transfers so it took much longer than expected. In retrospect I don't know how I waited! But it is a physical, emotional, and financial roller coaster so if you need time, then you need time. STAY AWAY! I am writing this review to share my experience and to inform any other families that are considering using Dr. Tourgeman and this office in their fertility journey. Dr. Tourgeman is an arrogant, condescending, and dismissive doctor who practices a one size fits all approach to fertility care with the primary goal to maximize his own profits, not patient fertility success. Even more, many in his staff are disorganized, rude, and make way too many careless and avoidable mistakes without offering any apologies. My initial impression of him was positive however, the relationship devolved quickly. His dismissive tone and condescending responses soon became a very common occurrence. He cancelled my planned uterine surgery soon before it was set to take place because a family member of mine, an OB/GYN, got involved. This bruised his ego and he refused to treat me. Luckily, I was treated by a much more caring and informative surgeon (with much better staff). Much later, I (stupidly) decided to start an IVF cycle with him. Him and his staff seemed like they were just treating "another client" not a real person. He did not take into consideration my unique issues and actually told me to do things that were contrary to maximizing my IVF success. His staff made many mistakes. For example, his staff did not communicate the proper medication for me to take, another staff member, Wendy, failed to order me enough medication. Wendy completely ignored my request for help in getting additional medication and offered no apology. This was very stressful and I had to figure it out on my own on a Saturday. Nicole, who handle's the finances, is by far the rudest. She spent more energy on giving me attitude than politely responding to my few questions. Involving insurance in any part of therapy seems to annoy them. I hardly had any contact with the office while waiting for my results after the egg retrieval. Ultimately, I was informed of my results via an informal email and was instructed to set up an appointment to discuss them with Dr. Tourgeman. Shockingly, I was told I would have to pay a $90-260 fee to see him in the office for my follow up. Who charges for a follow-up after a surgical procedure?! This "follow-up" fee is minuscule compared to the high cost of IVF treatment, but come on! We ultimately spoke via phone, and Dr. Tourgeman quickly ran through my results using medical jargon that went completely over my head. He recommended we do another round of egg retrieval, but this time with the help of various vitamins and acupuncture. I specifically asked him about those vitamins and acupuncture before starting the IVF process and he told me NOT to do them. Why not set me up for success the first time? I'll tell you why - to get more money from me. I cried numerous times throughout this process - and not the happy kind of tears. Dr. Tourgeman and his staff are a joke. Spend your hard-earned money elsewhere. Fortunately in West Los Angeles/Beverly Hills there appear to be far better options when it comes to fertility care. read more

Dr Tourgeman is a wonderful and understanding doctor - he spent two years with me and my husband before we had our identical twin babies (one embryo was transferred and split). He found problems that my regular doctors could not - It turned out that I was born with a congenital defect that resulted in a uterine septum which also had several benign growths. He did two surgeries to correct this issue and he and his staff were really great throughout the whole process. Dr T also took a lot of time to explain things to me and answer all my questions - and I had a lot. A friend who also did ivf and went through a larger practice told me her Ivf doctor spent about 5 min with her each visit before handing her off to an attending. Sure I did see a NP, but that was for regular ultrasounds - Dr T saw me regularly and I never felt like a number or felt rushed. He did not recommend ivf right off the bat, after the initial procedures he recommended that we try naturally - and after that we went through 3 rounds of IUI. This took two years total ( I took an 8 mo break to try naturally again- Dr T recommend that I try naturally for 3 mo - but I went for longer) and the staff fielded my questions and knew my medical history by memory. Their nurse Vera knew me by just my voice and was always personable. I have really not thanked them enough and am posting this more than a year later - but thank you so much to him and his staff. For me this was a good experience - I felt really cared for. Infertility is so difficult on so many levels and not everyone has the same results - but I am extremely grateful. read more

Dr. Tourgeman is the best doctor I have had the pleasure to know - and I am happy to report that I am pregnant after two rounds of IVF and our first embryo implant. The highlights: - Dr. Tourgeman has the best bedside manner - the absolute best. I trust him to be honest and direct, but in a way that calms anxiety and brings focus to the path ahead. I looked forward to seeing him multiple times a week during the IVF cycles. He wasn't just my doctor, but a key member of my support team helping me to navigate what became an emotionally and physically taxing process. He never seemed rushed, always taking time to discuss my questions and concerns. He presents his perspective with experience and facts, but also an open-mindedness that is often missing from the fertility/pregnancy space. Honestly, he makes me feel like I am his favorite patient, even though I am sure that many of us share this feeling given his exceptional care. - The office runs on time! This was important to me as I was keeping everything under the radar from work. I was able to make early morning appointments around 7:45/8:00am and count on being in and out under 25 minutes. - The entire office staff is knowledgeable and supportive. Like I said, I looked forward to my visits and will be sad to leave HRC after 6+ months of frequent visits. They were also incredibly diligent (and patient) dealing with my unbelievably difficult insurance. Maria, Vivian, Wendy, Jessica - everyone has made this experience a positive one. Dr. T and the staff at HRC (especially Kimberly S!!) have gone above and beyond for me -- literally, this is the best treatment and care I have EVER received from ANY medical staff. Let me explain: In looking for an IVF clinic, I'd narrowed it down to a short-list and scheduled consults with the top 4. Two were fine, but perfunctory-- I felt like the treatment was 'one size fits all', and when I brought up our specific issues they got brushed aside. One was terrible--outdated techniques and a doctor who couldn't even remember our names, much less my test results. Then there was HRC and Dr. T, and it was like night and day!! First off, HRC requested all my medical records and the lab work that I'd had done previously be sent over the week before the visit. When we got into the consult it was clear that Dr. T had actually gone over the results beforehand and thought about the best protocol to address our specific reproductive challenges! You have no idea what a refreshing change that was from consults where doctors spent the first 5 minutes flipping through the pages on my previous tests, missing important lab results or worse yet, not looking at those test results at all. In contrast, Dr T, having seen that we were dealing with MFI, didn't just mention in passing that ICSI was an option; instead, he explained the difference between PICSI and ICSI and why he thought PICSI was the better call in our case. He took my history of repeat early pregnancy loss seriously and ordered testing for possible contributing factors (testing which later DID turn up a mutation on the MTHFR gene). He answered all my many, many questions (I had a 2-page long checklist of what I wanted to ask) and I left the meeting feeling heard and, even better, understood. We then met with Kimberly, who would be our nurse coordinator, and she laid out the specifics of weekend hours and emergency contacts, gave me a sample calendar, and helped us figure out how the timeline would work with my husband's touring schedule. She was also so helpful and willing to work with us on medication, including writing out a sample list of prescriptions so we could compare prices at different pharmacies and offering to write the prescriptions in batches so we didn't over-buy. Their overall price was neither the most expensive nor the least expensive of the clinics we looked at, but their communication, care, and expertise blew all the other options out of the water. So all of that made us VERY confident in choosing HRC and Dr. Tourgeman as our IVF destination. ************************* **But that's not why I'm writing this review.** ************************* I'm writing this because the week I was supposed to start IVF, I got a positive pregnancy test. We don't know yet if this is a viable pregnancy, and because of my previous losses and slow rising beta values we're very cautious. I saw my insurance-covered RE first because I figured, well, I definitely won't be doing IVF this cycle so HRC won't want anything to do with me, right? So, so wrong. Kimberly, Dr. Tourgeman, and HRC have been amazing. Kimberly reacted with such kindness when I told her that I'd gotten a positive test but the first beta was low enough that it was likely a chemical pregnancy. She was sensitive but honest about the odds being bad when my second beta came in with only a 52% increase over 2 days. I will take that honesty any day over false hope and out-of-date statistics (which is what our insurance-covered RE peddled). They scheduled me in for an ultrasound (this coming Friday) and made sure I am getting labs drawn every 2 days to check hCG levels. And when my third beta came in with a better increase but my progesterone levels had crashed to under 10, the insurance-covered RE told me there's nothing to do and "you'll just have to wait and see [if you miscarry]", then he left the office at 2pm and became unreachable. Kimberly & Dr. T heard those values and immediately sent over a prescription to the pharmacy for progesterone supplements, which I was able to pick up the same day (and I'd given them the lab values at like 4:45pm!). And remember, this is all for a NATURAL pregnancy-- I haven't yet paid a dime for IVF. At this point they're probably *losing money* on my care because of how much time I've taken up with my endless questions. Kimberly and Dr. T have been so honest, helpful and responsive-- I cannot ask for or imagine better care anywhere. I don't know if this pregnancy will be viable, but they truly seem invested in helping it have the best possible shot at going to term. And if I do lose this pregnancy, then I can at least find comfort in the fact that I have the HRC team with me as I start my IVF journey, a team that deeply cares about their patients as people and who are committed to doing their d*mn best to send you home with a baby. read more

Two stars for his good bed-side manners. However, as a doctor he failed me, he made me have multiple tests (including MRI and CAT) which other doctors said were totally unnecessary. He was certain I had a problem with my Uterus - too much tissue, then when a certain test was ordered it totally threw his theory out of the window, he sent the test results away for a second opinion (which I had to pay for) and everyone said the "issue" he was seeing was non-existent. Suffice to say, that I didn't end up using him for my IVF procedure. read more

My husband and I had been trying for a year when Dr. T was referred to us. We hadn't had any luck with the doctor we had been going to in Beverly Hills so we thought we would give him a try. The office is warm and all the nurses know your name and everyone is routing for you at HRC. We had a couple of failed IUI's and then we did 2 rounds of IVF and it worked on round 2! This was a miracle because we were working with such a tiny amount of eggs!!! I am 36 weeks pregnant now with our baby boy. We are so happy! I highly recommend Dr. T and his staff at HRC. We had an IVF Cycle Dr. T and I wanted to offer simple pros and cons justifying maybe - 3 stars. Most are NOT related to Dr. T himself, but to the clinic and support. It is an in-depth review and analysis. I can't help it, I'm an engineer :) after all - you're about to put your body through a ton of hormones, $17,000, and a lot of hope. Pros Good Location They own their own medical facility in Encino Statistical reported results are above average: Reports can be found here: 1. Society for Advanced Reproductive Technologies sart.org 2. CDC centers for disease control - IVF Results 2 years delayed - PDF for 2012 can be downloaded. Doctor was reasonably honest with our odds (that is the odds he told we had were close to those on the reports above. Wait was short for all appointments we went to. Cons: No after hours support if we have issues or concerns, or things come up Big gaps to attention to detail - we were not told of any side effects with drugs and procedures, one involved excess bleeding and They said "sorry we thought we put it on your calendar". Couple of details in training for injections were omitted, thanks to YouTube we caught them - because there was no after hours support. Unlike many boutique clinics, there is very little in depth analysis and customized approach to each individual based on results. It's more like a factory - Result A - do this, result B - do that. Other clinics have more in depth customization with better results. Acacio clinic in OC is one. We asked explicitly to be told which drugs to buy weekly. instead they gave us a giant list of drugs, explicitly said you need them all and we wasted several hundred dollars in unused drugs. response was - Doctor changes use depending how you respond. - Translation - taking extra 2 minutes each week to tell you what to buy for that week is too much effort. buy everything and if unused, toss it - it's non refundable. and it's super expensive. After the IVF cycle we were suggested another cycle for 17K along with egg donor even though the clinic admitted that doing IVF will not increase the odds of egg donor. Logic? Sounds like a fantastic rationale to make 17K but not so much for us. The person at front desk hasn't given us one smile in 1 month of going there. Perhaps she can cheer up a little - it helps us psychologically. Other clinics allow a woman's body 1 month to recover from all the hormones before she is given embryos, but this clinic puts them in right away after 3 days for older women. After much much research i came to a conclusion that clinics that wait 1 month and also mature embryos to 5 days are correct. If embryo doesn't survive 1 month freeze and 5 days it's as good as gone anyway. However, some clinics including this one prefer to check-off "we had an embryo transfer" mark more so than final result of pregnancy or birth. This may explain a near 0 reported chance of success at this clinic for women 42+, while it does have a higher embryo transfer ratio. lastly, after the procedure, we sent emails to the nurse who was assigned to us to ask us how to deal with some post-IVF side effects, and never got an email back. It was just 1 email with 2 side effects questions. It felt unpleasant that they wouldn't spend a minute to respond to a simple question after they were done with us. Also, note - I've used Yelp since 2009 and have over 100 reviews. I'd be concerned with 5 - star reviews who almost never use Yelp. In sum - It wasn't bad, but during such emotional critical and highly expensive time we expected a little more analysis, attention to detail, and support. HRC is a chain of lots of reproductive and even hair reproductive clinics in LA. I'd suggest you look for a single boutique clinic instead, and not a chain, with more personalized attention, after-hours support, and high volume in your age group - reports I mentioned above show you all CA clinics and shows volume by age group as well as success rates. There are MANY in So Cali. Sure you can go to Chili's - a good chain - they make great canned soup and some delicious standard tacos. But why not instead research and choose a highly rated homey very popular restaurant that has a track record of serving their clients some fantastic authentic food? after all...the IVF dinner is super expensive and is filled with hormones and drugs...some of us are only wiling to do it or able to afford it once or twice :) Send me a message if you have any questions or would like to brainstorm the options. read more

I really wanted to love this dr. and office, especially since they took my insurance, but it was a waste of time and lots of money. First of all they're not open on the weekends, so if there's a chance of you ovulating on the weekend you'll just have to wait until Monday, since their other office won't do ultrasounds on the weekends. Both months that we did iui treatments, they missed my ovulation and did the iui anyways saying it couldn't hurt. Of course it doesn't hurt them at $500+ each. But after moving on to the specialists at California fertility, I've learned that it could have been harmful since my follicles were over 20mm. I didn't know that once they're overly mature they won't fertilize and grow correctly. So we were basically paying to fertilize an egg that had no chance of survival, but could have grown and caused me issues inside. Dr. T was also very preoccupied by other things and would often make mistakes in dates and dosing on medications that the pharmacy or myself would catch. Yes this place is slightly less expensive than other more reputable facilities, but you get what you pay for. And unfortunately that is negligent medicine. I recommend California fertility partners. Maybe more expensive, but much more professional and pregnant on my first iui there. The monitoring is top notch at CFP and their office truly is "open every day!" read more

I don't think Dr. T could possibly know how truly grateful we'll be to him for the rest of our lives. Also, every member of the office staff is so friendly and amazing, so shout out to them too. Here's my story: My husband and I tried for three years. We began the process of IVF in Oregon where we live but put the kibosh on it before the egg harvesting. We have IVF covered through our insurance but it was so confusing what was covered and what wasn't and we started getting these big bills. We finally realized the actual transfer was going to be 13K out of pocket because it wasn't going to be done in-house (or something like that, I might have it wrong). The point is there was a 13K out of pocket expense so we started calling all the fertility clinics in Oregon (nothing), California, and Washington. We ended up flying to Los Angeles to have it done at HRC, a place that truly accepted our insurance. The flights down were still less expensive then doing IVF locally. Before the eggs were harvested Dr. T said "it looks like there might be an extra little flap of skin at the top of your uterus. Let's do a minor out patient procedure and remove it to give you the best chance of the embryo taking." Magic words. He removed the skin. I was pregnant NATURALLY the next month (remember, after trying for three years). The place in Oregon would have negligently gone ahead with the IVF procedure and I would have miscarried it (like the one time I got pregnant naturally before and miscarried). That little flap of skin, it turns out, was preventing enough blood flow getting to the embryo. I'm now 7.5 months pregnant and that little skin removal was the ticket. All I can say is we didn't need to continue with IVF because Dr. T realized what the issue was when Kaiser (where we did four IUIs) and another fertility clinic (where we began IVF) hadn't. He's basically our fairy godmother. I think this speaks volumes about the character of Dr. T, his staff, and HRC in general. I always felt like a walking pocket book at the previous fertility clinic. HRC's billing department was super clear and helpful. It was a night and day experience. Dr. T is a really nice guy and clearly very good at what he does. I couldn't be more grateful and I will forever tell my friends to fly down to L.A. and go here instead. read more

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 3 years...and Dr. Tourgeman got us pregnant on our first attempt with IVF. The entire staff is patient, personable and ALWAYS there to help. You really feel a sense of community. Someone always answers the phone when you call, they know your name when you walk in, and they simply care so much for you as a patient! We feel extremely lucky to have ended up in the hands of everyone at HRC. They far outweighed what we had even expected from the extraordinary reviews we had initially read. When I was searching for a fertility clinic 4 years ago, I wanted to make sure I found the right fertility doctor. I read many great reviews for Dr. Tourgeman at HRC Fertility. More importantly, Dr. Tourgeman was extremely compassionate, personable, and treated me with the upmost respect. The first thing I let him know when I saw met him was that I was nervous and sensitive - I always get like that with my annual pap and I was scared thinking of the shots that I was going to give myself for my egg retrieval. Dr. Tourgeman was very gentle in each exam and he even prescribed me subcutaneous injections, which were smaller needles and much more doable (I feared the intramuscular injections that are over an inch long!). When my husband and I were ready for our frozen embryo transfer in August, that process was so smooth and thankfully we got pregnant on our first transfer. I know a lot of that comes from a skilled doctor who made it look so easy! We are forever grateful for the help of Dr. Tourgeman who was there throughout our journey to parenthood and helped us start our family. read more

My experience with Dr. Tourgeman spans over 4 years, when I first came in to see him about an egg freezing process. I had started with another clinic (Pacific Fertility) who completely mishandled my care. They started me on a cycle without doing any blood work, and wouldn't answer my calls about switching prescription brands to ones covered by my insurance. I came to Dr. T in a state of crisis, and he took my care very seriously and more importantly, handled it with the utmost compassion. He ended being able to save my cycle. Four years later, I went back to him to put those frozen eggs to use, and again, I was met with the same professionalism and kindness that I had learned to to expect from him and his office. While it was not an easy journey, with plenty of hardships and disappointments along the way, I felt like I had a partner with exceptional expertise and empathy along the way. In the end, Dr. Tourgeman along with his amazing staff (Mei and Maria) were able to help us get us results we came for. After a long road of artificial inseminations with a different doctor, and a couple of IVF cycles with Dr. Tourgeman, I can happily say that thanks to Dr. Tourgeman and his team we have a beautiful and healthy 8 month old baby. I highly recommend Dr. Tourgeman, not only from our personal experience, but also from my professional experience with him and his team. I work for a surrogacy agency and we have referred many of our intended parents to him. Dr. T has achieved a high success rate, and I can say that every single one of my intended parents has been happy with him. Dr. T's caring, compassionate, and honest personality coupled with his knowledge, professionalism, and a great success rate make for a winning combination. I cannot believe how rudely I was just spoken to by a receptionist named Rochelle at this fertility clinic. I have no idea what the services are or how the doctor is or anything and now I will never get to know because the front desk girl was so rude!!!! Here is a breakdown of how rediculous and unintelligent the conversation was on the receptionists part. (Back ground is Iv been collecting together info on 12 fertility centers in Los Angeles to help me compare details, prices and everything else that helps anyone choose a doctor. Every single one has put me through to the financial department and all have kindly given me a quote and individual itemized billing all applicable option and procedures so I can actively narrow down which 4 or 5 to do a consultation with) So again this is how Rochelle spoke to me Her manner and sassy attitude sounded extremely lazy like she couldn't be bothered to help or talk to me or get me any information. I asked her if I could be put through to the financial department to enquire about prices etc (all info that is usually on the website or at least emailed a breakdown to someone if they ask) and her answer was that I couldn't even speak on the phone or receive an email from anyone about the cost of anything until Iv had a $300 consultation?! I asked her how potential clients even know if the center is in their budget to know whether to request a consultation and she didn't understand the question but just repeated her rude answer in a bored undertone to me. "You have to book a consultation to get to meet the financial co ordinator ". It's so weird when that is obviously not the case, every clinic has a financial co ordinator and Rochelle was probly just too lazy to take my number down for them to call me back. Not once did she ask my name, phone number, email adress that all 12 other clinics asked me so they could email or get back to me. Nothing, nada, she was absolutely useless and I'm now obviously thinking that if this clinic chooses to employ such rude people as their first tier system they will turning away a lot of business and I don't trust someone that can't even talk intelligently and politely to handle my fertility need, it is sad the the whole doctors, nurses and impressions of this center are solely formed on this ill mannered individual that who knows if the actual doctor himself is talented and great doctor? I choose not to delve further and rather take my business elsewhere! Oh and one more thing to add, the Yelp page on this business says on its page "book a free consultation here". I am not even sure where to begin. Dr. Tourgeman's and his staff where a breath of fresh air after a very long dark tunnel. We looked at several different facilities and Doctors before we selected Dr. Tourgeman. We have had some really bad experiences previously and after 3 and half years were getting tired. We are so very happy that we meet Dr. T. After 3 failed IUI's with another doctor, Dr. T helped us get pregnant with twins on our first round of IVF!! It's taken me quite some time to write this review (our little miracle is 26 months old now). We met Dr. T and the HRC family when we were already about 2 years into our fertility treatment journey already. We'd seen a few other clinics and doctors before and finally felt at home at HRC. Dr. T and his nurses were always straight with us about our treatment, they listened to us and dealt compassionately with our feelings (and I could probably win the Olympics for crying easily so that was no easy task) and while this journey is expensive, HRC was always fair in billing and looked for ways possible to limit our expenses. I surprisingly became pregnant between IVF cycles and the HRC family still took care of me as though I was one of their own. Dr. T saw me through my first trimester, managing my pregnancy along with some complications with great care. Dr Tourgeman is amazing!! I went to 3 other doctors before I found him. He was the only one that comforted me in a personal way but also took the time to explain all the medical issues to me. He is patient, understanding, brilliant, friendly and personable. He really does empathize with the patient and made a plan that fit my particular situation. Worst experience ever with HRC and Dr. Tourgeman. Left feeling like I was just a money making thing and it's just biz versus caring about the patients. They overcharged me for my consultation visit and added a charge for a vaginal exam I never got. Luckily I read my bills and caught it. When I called to try to get it fixed with billing, it was a nightmare with no one getting back to me or trying to fix it or even calling me back. The accounting people would tell me they would look into it and call me or email me back and nothing multiple times. I guess they were really hard up and didn't want to give me my money back on a service I never got.It was mine boggling. I had to constantly keep calling even though they confirmed to me on the phone they realize I never got any physical or vaginal exams (just talked in his office for 10 minutes) but they wouldn't fix it. After being frustrated from having to follow up so many times about their error, I called Dr. Tourgeman to let him know and also tell him how difficult it was for me to get information from someone else in his office that he referred me to, and he couldn't care less and totally blew me off on the phone. This guy really doesn't care about people or helping them. What a nightmare and have told all my friends who are looking for great clinics to stay away from HRC. read more

My husband and I were having trouble conceiving after trying for 2.5 years. We started trying when I was 31 and just had unexplained infertility. We finally decided to go to the West LA HRC based on a friend who had conceived from Dr B in the Encino office. Dr T, Roshana and Vera were so amazing. We ended up with 3 failed IUI, but managed to conceive on the first try of IVF. We opted for the PGD testing so we ended up with 2 boys and 2 girl embryos in total - and we had successfully implanted one boy. I never thought I'd be able to go through with all the shots and medications - and I will admit, it was a super emotional process at the time, but we have such a sweet and adorable 8 month old now who we can't imagine our lives without. We are almost ready to go back for an embryo transfer to hopefully give my son a sibling. I was amazed by Dr T's schedule - he works everyday and is very good at what he does!!! The one thing I would advise current patients is to only buy enough medication until your next appointment. I ended up with over $300 worth of extra medications that I didn't touch since my dosage was later decreased. I ended up donating the unopened one, and ended up tossing all the half used vials. Overall we are so thankful for modern technology and Dr. T - we love our little boy more than anything. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Tourgeman and his staff. We interviewed a couple of other doctors, but instantly knew when we met Dr. T that he was the one for us. He is warm, kind, and extremely caring. At the other offices I visited I felt like like I was just a number in a sea of patients, but with Dr. T I felt like we were truly teammates in trying to make this pregnancy happen, and that he wanted it as much for me as I wanted it for myself. He went the extra mile and explored all options, and I am proud to say that I am now the mother of two gorgeous baby girls! Welcome to the other side of the story. I was an EGG DONOR. And Dr. Tourgeman was the person who operated on me to retrieve the eggs. As mothers and fathers who are trying to have children, remember this -- the women who are giving you their eggs are willingly doing it. Yes. But they are often too young to really understand what is happening. And they are taken advantage of by doctors like this man. I wanted to donate to provide a gift to someone else. I received $6,000 for months of uncomfortable medicating and demanding nurses and egg donation staffers who treated me like a number. What happens while you are all awaiting your babies is sometimes horrific and terrifying for the women who are treated like mere chattle. It is only now several years later that I am willing to come forward. I was over medicated. I wanted to back out at the end of the process, but was, in retrospect, in a very slimy way persuaded to go through with the egg donation by the doctor. In the operating room with the anesthetic IV in my arm and under the influence, I was berated by the doctor and accused of not taking my final medication. Imagine me a young woman not really truly understanding what I was about to do far too young to have made this decision on my own...Turns out, it was an error on his end. The imaging wasn't correct and he couldn't see the eggs. Instead, he came in as I was in this vulnerable position and accused me of not taking the meds that would release the eggs. I was just about to slip under and terrified for my life because he had come in so abruptly and without any bedside manner, my feet and legs spread apart with no comfort whatsoever. The last memory I have is of him muttering "they are there" before waking up. He told me he accidentally pierced through my bladder, too. I only got to spend an hour or so in the facility, and was let go well before I should have been. I did not get a visit from the doctor or any professional while I sat in this bed in an open room with other people. I didn't get a private room to recover in. They want you in and out like the bodies we are seen as. I should've stayed overnight to be watched and monitored for Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. I remember walking to my car in a complete daze. I did not recover for weeks. I was sent home on a plane the next day. I was not allowed to wait in California until I was rested. I never should've gotten on that plane. I didn't receive daily calls to see how I was. The incessant calling stopped once they took my eggs. In under one week I was in the emergency room suffering from extreme OHHS. I was at work and felt like I was going to faint. My insides felt like they were going to burst. My stomach was bloated -- it looked like I had three watermelons inside my stomach. I was hospitalized for days after this event. The doctors said I could've lost an ovary and they demanded to know why I had been sent home so early from the egg retrieval facility. They told me no self respecting doctor would've let me go home and the early signs of OHHS would've been totally apparent. Big factor: they had developed 30 eggs from me. That's a lot of eggs. You only need two. Now there are 30 frozen eggs somewhere -- why? A doctor who wants your eggs and is getting $100k money for nothing will tell you 30 eggs is not a lot. The doctors who were treating me for OHS who were not wanting my eggs at all said it was far too many to develop. A woman produces one a month if that. Imagine my ovary stuffed. I got $6,000. I am happy these 2 children were born and I know who they are and that they are well. I ended up in the emergency room. My left ovary still aches to this day. Every period after this procedure several years ago has been extremely heavy and I bleed through tampons. I used to be able to use three and be done with it. Imagine if you conceive a child through IVF. One day, your little daughter with an unknown real mother might also want to donate eggs. Would you want her going through this procedure as I described above? In the years since I did this, I have regretted it, yes, but I stand strong in my decision. What bothers me is the treatment. I am the real biological mother of these two kids out there, but I was not treated like a mother. I was treated like a vessel from which to take. Adopt kids, people. This might be how your child's life begins otherwise. You might injure someone beyond repair. Please, please, PLEASE adopt. There are millions of children out there who would die for a parent like you. Just don't do this. Please. If you must participate in the egg trade, demand to know your egg donation mother be treated kindly, with respect, and with as much decency as you would your own. read more

Dr Tourgeman is one of the best doctors I have found in my life. He is very caring, considerate and always willing to spend as much time as required to answer all your questions to satisfaction. His entire staff, specially Rishona and Vera, are super sweet and kind. I am totally impressed with their professionalism in the way they manage patient records, keep a note of every trivial detail about you and keep everything ready to go before you arrive for appointment. The wait time is short, once we were called in even before we finished signing in. Dr T is very knowledgable and thorough in his diagnosis and treatment. I had a very positive experience at HRC working with Dr. Tourgeman. Actually, because of my schedule, I ended up working with Wendy most of the time and she was FANTASTIC. Great bedside manner, great sense of humor and she really knows her stuff. Dr. T and his staff are incredibly professional. I rarely ever waited in the office and everyone from the front desk receptionists to the nurses who took my blood always greeted me with a smile. I liked that everyone always took the time to make sure all of my questions were answered. I never felt rushed. Although I wish I didn't need their services, I'm glad I found this office and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for assistance getting pregnant. We first saw Dr. T in March and by May (two cycles later) I was pregnant via an IUI. Fingers crossed everything goes as well from here. read more

Dr Tourgeman & his staff were not only successful in assisting us conceive, but did it with superior service! When my husband & I met Dr T he was kind, calm & personable - making us feel so comfortable in such foreign territory. I must have asked him hundreds of questions & he answered all of them (with a smile). He never seemed to tire of my endless inquisitions. I think he enjoys sharing his vast knowledge of something he truly loves! And it shows through in all the positive attention he & his staff gave us. The nurses were just as supportive- always there to answer any & all questions. Although you usually do not get call backs until the end of the day. But I quickly started to understand they are busy with other couples too. Overall, super sweet & just as compassionate as the doctor they work for! One note: If you get a call back or get scheduled for a procedure with a nurse of which you'd rather have with Dr T, just tell them. I did. Sometimes your just more comfortable talking to or dealing with your doctor. All doctors get busy & so, you might have to wait longer- but I'm sure they will accommodate you if possible. read more

Without question Dr. Tourgeman is the most incredible doctor out there. If you are looking to make such an incredible investment in money, time and emotion, please at least go to one of his free seminars (that you have an opportunity to win a $1000 towards your treatment). My wife and I had been trying to conceive for 3.5 years, have gone through surgeries and three failed IUI's and a IVF doctor that had sounded like a used car salesmen, and a lot of emotional pain. Our insurance doesn't cover any of the operation and we took out the majority of our retirement. We only had one chance, one round and then we knew that we would never have the opportunity to have children on our own. We did research and looking at the SART numbers, he has the best numbers in Southern CA (we drove from San Diego to meet him). He answered all of our questions, and was extremely patient and understanding. We knew he was the one. After one round of IVF, we are now 8 1/2 weeks pregnant with twins!!! He said that the SART numbers can be skewed and so on, but they didn't lie for us. We heard both of their little heartbeats last week, and it was the most exciting moment of our lives. The fact of it is that doing IVF with high costs (wherever you go), you end up making one of the biggest gambles of your life (emotionally and financially). If you do take this gamble, stack the odds in your favor. You do that by going with Dr. Tourgeman. Also, their whole staff is quite incredible too. Working with Vera was a very helpful process to see if anything could be covered by insurance. After a couple years of trying the old fashioned way, my OB/GYN referred me to Dr Tourgeman. He calls him the fertility guru. I could not have been more pleased! The whole environment was very calm. All of my questions were always answered completely. The entire staff is warm and welcoming. I actually felt like they all wanted me to get pregnant, not just take my money and put me through the steps. As excited as I was to get pregnant and successfully reach the end of my first trimester, I was sad to leave. Many children are conceived from the love of 2 people. Dr. T is the man! Like many of the other reviewers, our journey to getting pregnant was a long and difficult one. Our odds of even having a family were extremely slim. I feel incredibly fortunate that we were able to work with Dr. T and his staff. From our first consultation with him, he was willing to be by our side and to work with us no matter what our decisions were. He was never condescending or rude but always wanted to make sure we were doing what was best for our future family. He guided us and mentored us through every stage. Dr. T. is very knowledgable, compassionate, has a great bedside manner. I always felt well taken care of and that our needs were being put first. Because of Dr. T. our family is now complete! I also can not say enough about his staff. They are soo accommodating and if we ever had questions or needed help, they always responded immediately.
