When I mentioned that I stayed numb for hours after an appointment, she said she would use an amount of anesthesia to lessen that. And she did it perfectly, I had no pain or discomfort during the procedure and by mid-afternoon, no numbness. She took great care to assure the filling did not affect my bite and it is perfect. I replied no, but I will call my old dentist and have them emailed over. She said we need them right now and I replied to go ahead and take new ones. An emergency patient walked in and needed her temporary crown glued back on. I told them go ahead and work on her and in the meantim, I called my old dentist to see if I could get my X-rays emailed, since I have a few minutes, while they work on other patient. They sent them over. They finally call me back and the dentist first complained that my dentist from Denver sent over a panoramic, she said lazy dentist use those. She could not enlarge the other X-rays and she was quite flustered. I come to realize that X-rays must be their money maker. There was a lot of push to get me to take new X-rays. She finally ask why I am here and I replied for a cleaning. She said we never do cleanings on a first visit. I wish someone would have told me that. The sad thing is that it took me an hour round trip to get there and I was in there for over an hour for nothing. I wish dentists would understand, that we are busy people too. It is also sad that I am going to get a bill from this practice. I was surprised that no one has called me.

I never thought there would be a time that I could go to the dentist without a great deal of fear. I have seen dentists who were very competent but due to bad dental experiences in my childhood I always dreaded even the annual cleaning. I was referred to Dr. Davis by a friend after moving to Cave Creek and couldn't believe how comfortable I was with him right away. Not only is he extremely knowledgable in general/cosmetic dentistry and technically gifted, but also his compassion and warmth is not typically seen elsewhere. I feel I am getting recommendations for my care based on what is best for me personally rather than "running up the bill" as most of us have experienced one time or another. His staff is as friendly, accommodating, and professional as one could imagine. Clearly Dr. Davis has surrounded himself with clinical and administrative staff who not only exceed standards in every way but also have a great deal of respect for Dr. Davis personally. She's personally delightful. She suggests only what you need. (There's a concept Dr. C on Westland might try!!) Her staff shares her great personal skills. And, best yet... She's also a teaching doctor, so I believe she also offers the most current, updated skills.

I was an academic general surgeon and I can recognize skilled surgical talent immediately - she has that talent and efficiency - no time is wasted when the work starts. She and the office do not waste your time with endless cosmetic surgery promotions - most dentists have lost their way and have forgotten basic dental surgery skills but if you want Botox or white teeth, those dentists will provide. In comparison, Dr. Melissa Goins provides excellent dental care. Kudos to her and her staff so I nominated her as one of the best dentists in Phoenix Magazine's Best of the Valley 2025 Readers' Choice Ballot.
