And I wasn't disappointed. The market is exactly what you would want a medium to large sized market to be. Offering a huge range of locally sourced goods sold to you by the actual producers of the items, you can get most things you would need to stock up the fridge, freezer and cupboards (with a good amount of locally made crafty things too). It's in a pretty setting and has a lovely community feel to it. We managed to find parking in the small shopping area just up from St Mary's Row at around 9:15am, but parking could be a bit of a nightmare if you were getting here later. The square area offered braces of pheasants for £6, cheese, wine, condiments and artisan food products and the High Street area (which we hadn't realised was there until we were leaving - D'oh) offers more of a crafty element. We had a nice little poke around the stalls and chatted to many of the business owners about their products and they were more than happy to talk to us and advise where the items are made and the ingrediants that go into them. We got some lovely locally made fizzy red wine (Did you know there are vineyards in the Midlands?) for £10 a bottle, some hot sauce from Pip's and was very tempted by cakes and unusual scotch eggs... We are definitely planning to go back. If you haven't been, you must go. Get there early if you're planning to drive but the buses down to Moseley drop you off right in the thick of the action, do that might be the best idea.

I've been attending the market for over three years now, and I rarely miss a month. The stalls always draw me back when I'm needing a healthy variation to my diet, and the price range is perfect value for money. Specifically regarding the Beans & Leaves stall, which sells a wide range of both coffee beans and loose teas. Most of these infusions rarely reach the £4 mark for 100g, which results in more than enough tea for two for several months! The tea stall holder himself is a bubbly yam yam who'll immediately strike up a conversation. It's just a shame that his stall is on the windiest part of Moseley, meaning that a lot of his tea ends up at the other side of the market! But of course, on first visit, you'll want to sample everything. Whether this be jam, ostrich burgers, bakery, alcohol or cheese (in fact, I highly recommend the Warwickshire Truckle), there's literally something for everyone. I've also tried a range of unlikely produces which sometimes appear at the market, such as a piece of fruit called a quince, and a green tea cake, both equally as delicious as the other. As a worthy winner of "best farmers market in the UK 2012", Moseley Farmers Market is a treasury to Birmingham and brings a tasteful locality to the streets of Moseley.

But I'm also a customer who looks forward to seeing familiar favourites and new stalls and I never leave without bags weighing me down, so I'm judging it as ok to write a review :-) We now do an Easter, summer and Christmas market the grounds of St Paul's church. We don't make any profit and plough any surplice back into the next one to keep the cost to stallholders down. We have a mix of delicious food to eat there and then, to buy and take home, and a great bunch of local artists, crafters, makers and growers selling stuff to adorn you, your house and your garden. We are small and perfectly formed but growing well. At our summer 2014 market in August we had 27 stalls, a good footfall and a great atmosphere. Look out for our Christmas market in December.

The food traders are all local to the West Midlands and after 2 years of popping in for my regular haul I've got to know them pretty well. Must haves are coffee beans from Andy at Beans & Leaves from whom I tend to try whatever is new this month. He's also an expert on the 1970s but that's beside the point. JQ business Vee's deli are there with their great selection of cheeses that you can try before you buy and then there is the markets' own vegetable stall which occasionally sells carrots! More often than not I'll pick up some flowers and whatever vegetables I want with the Sunday roast the next day. Sometimes I'll pick up a homemade frozen meal or at the very least a dessert from the frozen food stall before checking out the delights from the huge Squisito hot food stand. Finally it's the essential dozen eggs from the meat guy, who has a 10 year old clever side-kick who can calculate in his head faster than I can with a calculator. If you're coming along, I'm usually there around 12, when occasionally they have live music so be sure to say 'hello.'

During the development of the village square, the market had to move further down Vicarage road, but has since relocated to the quite eccentric updated space, which see's random fountains of water and grave stones sunken into pathways. It's quite a surreal experience, and I don't suggest walking through the space while drunk. The area becomes even more bizarre when taken over by the farmers market, as stalls are placed in between these randomly sunken stones. It reminds me of some sort parallel Kings Heath, where everything is melting in the village square, but the people just act as though it is a normality and set up a market over the space. Anyway, the local food sold here is of high quality, and many of the Moseley Farmers Market stall holders also set up here. Meaning that if you miss the Moseley market, you can always catch them at the Kings Heath one. There are also some different stalls who sell better jams than Moseley, in my opinion, so I always buy jam from Kings Heath market instead. Prices of products aren't necessarily cheap, but you certainly get your value for money, as the flavour of the food (especially the jam) is top notch.

It was a delicious surprise, literally, because with all food stalls available it was almost a truly gastronomic experience. I regret having breakfast because empty belly in this place can be a very good starting. I just loved the farming made products available there. It's almost like going back to the deep south of Brazil or some countryside cities where farm culture is preserved and you always have the possibility of visiting farms and eat their delicious food. I heard about these farmer markets in Birmingham areas before but it's just unbelievable the variety of cakes, baked breads, handmade cheese and other fresh and pretty healthy products available in these places. If you fancy organic products, there are good source of vegetables and fruit to choose as well. The plants, flowers and other memorabilia are also a charming complement to these markets and people working on it are usually very gentle. I like the fact it's held on Saturdays (first of each month) because it makes things very easy for who works during week and just have time to catch up with it during the weekends. I am glad I made Kings Heath Farmers market. In Brazil we have some similar street markets ( with the difference that we sell almost everything ) and it's always good to find such a lovely experience like this here as well.

If this was present, which I didn't stay long enough to find out, it was very well hidden. The entrance had shelves of grapes in plastic containers and cling-film. Opposite the entrance was a shelf of fruit etc. none looked local, and much was in plastic bags. There were things like pre-cooked rice in plastic trays for microwave, a few plastic tubes of organic - but not local. Then there was a huge table of bananas, all in plastic bags. Lidl looks more like a farm-shop than this place.

The…read moreNew Street Market has become a fixture in the City Dwellers calendar (being the first and third Wednesday of the month) as it's one of the few regular markets that actually take place in the Centre (there is a plethora around Kings Heath, Moseley etc). It's smaller than many of the other offerings around, but there is a definite focus on quality goods. With a nice mix of street food, cupboard goods and homemade treats to take away; you're likely to find something that'll take your fancy. I visited the ever lovely Pip's yesterday to see what's new in the world of Hot sauce and have a mooch at the other jams and preserves on offer (as they make fantastic presents). There were about 10 - 15 stands in yesterdays in'stall'ment (see what I did there?) offering a good range of hot and cold goods. The location is fantastic! The focus of the market has moved from the bustle of the New Street/Victoria Square basin up to Victoria Square itself and there are chairs and tables to sit and enjoy your food and drinks in the sun if you want a break. I'm planning to pop by for the next market too (as we're always running out of interesting condiments) and I recommend you pop down if you're in the area!

(1st & 3rd Wednesday) It's also there longer, 10-4 which on one of the busiest streets in Birmingham, seems to make sense. I'm disappointed with the number of stalls but not the quality. My favourite Coco Meli/Too Bizzy 2 Bake are is there and their cakes & savoury pastries alone make it worth the trip. There week there is also a cheese stand, plants, pies, strawberries and the brilliantly named The Snoggable Garlic Company! (The taste doesn't linger) The only time the market is not on New Street is Christmas but you won't miss it as the ever-growing Frankfurt market will take over the street then.

The Bullring Indoor Market is one of the central market halls in Birmingham city center, and is…read moreactually classed as part of the Bullring, Birmingham's largest shopping mall. More and more shopping centers seem to be getting markets now, or at least city centers, but this one is really disappointing and is a big let down for one of the UK's biggest cities. I had a quick look around here while shopping in Birmingham, and to me it just seemed rather run down and like a store on its' last day, getting rid of all its' junk, I didn't notice any connections into the Bullring its-self either, with the closest way in perhaps being using the lift in either Debenhams, opposite or Sports Direct. The market seemed rather quiet on my visit, yet still open on the Wednesday I visited, and it just didn't have a good vibe to it, and the building its-self was neither nice or modern, the exact opposite of the Bullring mall, I sadly feel that it only deserves a single one star as it lets Birmingham down, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news as it seems most people actually like this place, but my experience was sadly not as pleasant.

All the stallholders must make their own crafts rather than importing them and just after a short browse you can glean the amount of talent and graft gone into their wares. The stalls that captured my imagination the most were Hel Bent Books and Sarah Ray's 'Smile and Wave' motifs but there were a whole host of other exciting stalls and especially worth a look if you want an original and unique piece of jewellery. This market is absolutely perfect for presents. Next time I visit I'll be thinking ahead of what birthdays are coming up and I'll be sure to find something special my friends and family will appreciate.

The market is a great place for independent artists to sell their unusual and quirky work. I often get bored of looking through the same old birthday card shops, and find that an artist at the market has much better design ideas that suit my peculiar taste. In fact, I now buy most of my cards from here. My favourite card I've purchased has to be one which had a worm in a high heel on the front. My friend appreciated that greatly! There's also a great stall set up by a talented painter called Robert Geoghegan, who draws witty Birmingham scenarios from iconic buildings. Robert's humour is definitely a highlight of the market, and I am the proud owner of one of his paintings of the 50 bus, which contains druids riding to Druids Heath. There are also stalls that sell knitting, clocks, hats, photographs and books, equally making Moseley Arts Market the perfect hub of Birmingham's creativity.

Thanks to its open plan layout, the store feels airy and spacious even when it's busy and most of its prices are reasonable and competitive. I bought a punnet of Satsumas for 99p and was impressed by both their quality and M.S' customer service. The staff were friendly and cheerful, everything inside was clean and inviting and I'd definitely visit again.
