The sign said open. There was NO OTHER VEHICLE in either bay. When my husband said Bud Clary mechanic, Jarret, had called about our rig he still refused as he was working on a cat house. The sign said OPEN! I do not care what an alleged great mechanic he may be.....he will NEVER get our business. This is horrible. Why would he tell a mechanic at another service establishment to have us limp our way there if he only intended to have us make an appointment? He should be ashamed of himself! Seriously, I will do anything I can to let people know what a mean person he is...... We do not need business leaders like this in our community, we have enough bullshit already!

Our Outback broke down yesterday on a remote Eastern Washington country road with spotty cell…read moreservice. It was very hot and actually a rather desperate situation. Yuri spoke to us promptly after we contacted our insurance co's Roadside Service arm. His encouraging tone and proffered personal cell number were reassuring. Midway through orientation, we changed the original, smaller, city we had chosen as a destination to a larger one, somewhat farther away (there was a dealership there). Yuri was cheerfully adaptable and said he would drive us and the vehicle anywhere. He was very diligent about the actual towing and safety issues regarding our car and us. He was sensitive to our comfort in his rig and offered to stop anywhere along what was a pretty long ride. Yuri has honesty and moral values we appreciate. So without any reservation, we would recommend Yuri and Basin Towing to anyone. This man is a Godsend when someone is in a dangerous and difficult situation. Once he received my service call for a tow he called me to let me know what his estimated ETA for his arrival was which was very much appreciated because I was very worried I would be waiting for many hours. Then when he was about 15 minutes away from arrival he text me to let me know and said it was OK for me to ride back in the tow truck which was awesome because my husband was at work and I was over 20 miles from home so it would have been a long walk in the dark down hwy 17. When he arrived he was super polite, handled my vehicle with care and was well prepared for how to seemlessly get my little car loaded & hooked up to be towed safely. I was in the middle of a VERY long hold on a phone call with the delivery company I was working for & delivering a Home Depot order when he arrived, he was so polite & asked for my permission to move my car how he needed to position it accordingly. When I got into the tow truck he was super friendly and chatted with me the entire way home so the ride wasn't awkward at all. When we arrived at Les Schwab he again unloaded my car with care, precision & skill. I also still didnt have a ride home even though we were back in Moses Lake so I was going to walk home but he gave me a ride back from Les Schwab to my home in Knolls Vista. He knew I was a delivery driver & that I was in the middle of a Home Depot delivery when my car blew the tire. He offered to take the bag of cement I was delivering with us so I didnt have to come back to get it before I returned it to Home Depot. Yuri was ABSOLUTELY Aaamazing Start to Finish! There was'nt anything that he could have been more amazing at. Today was a bad day for me because Im down & out to be able to work and make money.... but Yuri TOTALLY Saved the day!!!! But that's where I wish I had stopped! DO NOT LET THEM DO REPAIR WORK ON YOUR CAR I had the clutch in my 2012 Subaru WRX 2.5L Turbo replaced in March 2026 at J1 Towing & Mechanic after my clutch went out and left me stranded on the side of the road about 30 miles east of Othello. He diagnosed that the clutch had failed and needed to be replaced. I authorized the work. I noticed issues immediately when I picked up the car, by the time i got back to Seattle, I was certain there was an issue and not just " breaking-in a stiff new clutch" as Joel suggested at pick-up, when I mentioned it didn't seem right. The car was showing several very concerning symptoms. I ended up taking my car to a dealer service center, they confirmed that there was definitely something wrong with the clutch, and that based on the paperwork I had from Joel, it was an incorrect friction plate. They installed an incorrect part in my clutch. I tried to work with Joel, he wanted a chance to look at the car/clutch, and I thought that was reasonable, but I had been advised it was unsafe to drive the car the distance from Seattle - Othello, especially over the pass. I offered to make the car available if Joel could tow it to his shop, but he wanted $800 for the tow, which I couldn't afford by this point. I had already paid him $250 for the initial tow, $2500+ for the initial repair, and another $280 for the diagnostic at the dealer in Seattle to tell me what was wrong. The repair quote from the dealer was $3000 for a new clutch + $9000 for a transmission. I then asked Joel for a refund, so I could try to get the car repaired on this side of the mountains, but he refused. The entire situation is heartbreaking and super stressful- my dream car was made undrivable, and I am unable to repair it.
