Dave Kane Cycles have vast knowledge and experience of all aspects of cycling The shop's owner Dave was actually an elite cyclist for a long number of years back in the 70s so the man knows what he is talking about, and the other staff also have distinguished cycling knowledge and abilities! This place is perhaps best suited to the more professional cyclist, as there a wide range of road racing bikes and biking equipment, but the advice I got here was very helpful for helpoing me purchase my bike elsewhere!The shop contains a huge range of accessories like shoes, waterproofs, bike maintanainance materials and even GPS monitors! To go with the professional equipment and service the prices are wuite high, but I suspect that you are getting what you pay for in here!From what I have seen in the last few years, cycling in Northern Ireland has been growing a lot, as evidenced by far more cycle routes and the large amount of near misses I have had on the road!(I joke, I actually am a careful and considerate driver!)To those people, I would recommend this shop with no hesitation!

My lovely bike…read morehad a puncture, so after looking online and seeing that this place did repairs I wheeled my two-wheeled baby down the road to get her fixed. When I went in, one of the guys was on the phone chatting about recent races and didn't so much as look up. Eventually someone else emerged from the back and I explained my predicament. He was less than impressed and didn't seem remotely keen to have a look, saying they didn't do that sort of thing. I gathered up all the charm I could, explaining their website said they did repairs, and he shuffled out the back to see if he had a tube for me. My bike was not cheap, I use it all the time, but it has a basket on the front, gasp! The feeling I got from this place was that I wasn't a proper cyclist, nor was I about to spend three grand on a bike you can lift with one finger, so my business wasn't interesting. Reluctantly he fixed it, and I went back in to pay, where the other guy was still on the phone, and made no effort to finish his call even though the card machine wouldn't work until he did. Thirty quid down I left feeling I had been a chore, and having heard nothing but glowing reviews about the passion of the place I was somewhat disappointed. Maybe they just had a bad day, but I'll be hesitant to try them out again, sadly.

It has been going for what feels like 20 years and I always think that says a lot about the level of service and quality of product that a place produces. Most people in Bangor will have bought a bike from here at one point and while it isn't for the biking conniseur, its more for kids bikes and recreationals you will certainly find what you need here at a really good price. There are bikes starting at about £50 going all the way up to a couple of hundred. One minor complaint would be the lack of parking near by as you will inevitably need to put a bike in the boot of the car.

Slane made fair compromise and compensation for any unexpected deviations from what was ordered. They were reasonable and made every effort to keep me completely satisfied. Great company. They have everything from Canoes to Dart Boards. Often with cheaper sports shops you sacrifice quality for price but this is not the case at Decathlon. They sell their own brand items called Kipsta and I must say that these aren't great quality but likewise they sell big name brands like Nike and Adidas at a lower price than other High Street stores. This Decathlon is huge - you could spend a full afternoon here wandering through the isles. I would make a list of what you want before visiting or else you'll come out with a new home gym and nowhere to put it. Great parking is also available - really handy if you are buying a bigger item and need to cart to the car.

I have bought cycling helmets, gloves, goggles, clothing and ski equipment, many big name brands are available and at better prices than other sports stores. They have a loyalty card scheme too.

This is a specialist running shop that sells all sorts of running clothing, trainers and accessories. It seems pretty well stocked - with all major brands available. One thing I noticed they had which I liked was an in-store treadmill. I like the idea of slipping on a pair of trainers and trying them out before you buy them. Sort of like a test drive in a car - makes sense to do this really. I noticed that a lot of the stock had been discounted in the same style that Sports Direct discount - by that I mean that items are automatically applied with discount to appeal to bargain hunters. When I entered the shop the staff were keen to help me and I was asked on two occasions was I ok or 'just having a look'. If you're a keen runner get a jog on and head down to Sweatshop, you'll probably find something you need - remember the Belfast Marathon is only 3 short months away?!

My friends laughed when I started going to the gym in a pair of retro Nike shorts (okay they were more like hotpants), my good t-shirts, my green or yellow converse and (sometimes) full make up. Oh dear! I also once tried to listen to Brian Eno's 'Music for Airports' whilst working out. It's an ambient album, so that was all kinds of wrong and gave my boyfriend at the time much amusement! I just can't bring myself to putting on a pair of those horrible white Nike runners or a tracksuit. No thanks! Anyway, JD sports don't have to worry as there are plenty of people out there who bloody love tracksuits and Nike air macs and they're always in here spending their dole on them! (A low blow but it's funny right!?!) This store is one of the busiest in town and offer some good sales on sportswear.
