    Sheung Wan, Hong Kong Island

I might be a little impartial when it comes to One Pacific Heights…read more My husband and I rented an apartment for 2.5 years at One Pacific Heights. It is an apartment...walls, a kitchen, a bathroom, windows...you get the picture. The apartment, although newer because is was built around 2010, is just like any other apartment you might rent in the area of Sheung Wan or Hong Kong. One Pacific Heights is a 5 star Yelp in my opinion though because of the service we received from the staff from the moment we moved in to the day we moved out. Gilbert, Henry, Tommy and the entire team really are what made our experience at One Pacific Heights exceptional. They were quick to address and assist us with any issue we had with our apartment. From A/C issues to making sure our dry cleaning found us, the staff at One Pacific Heights treated us with professionalism, courtesy and care. They made us feel like family. Not everyone on the staff speaks English, but that did not diminish the hospitality or service we received. The apartments themselves are quite nice. Newer, Miele kitchens with clothes washer, lots of light, balconies and only four apartments on each of the 50 floors in the building. Swimming pool and workout facility as well. The building itself is very close to a local dai pai dong, the MTR, the Fusion grocery, dry cleaners and more of the local feel of the famous Hong Kong spice district. Although there are many expats in the building from all over the globe, the building is settled into a very local neighborhood and it always felt more like a true Hong Kong experience to me (maybe versus living amongst a bunch of Americans in the mid levels, as many people do). The apartment was good, but the service from the staff is exceptional. This was why we would recommend One Pacific Heights to anyone looking for a new home

    Central, Hong Kong Island

My husband and I relocated to HK from NYC in May, 2014. The Company put us up here for one month…read morewhile we searched for an apartment. I truly enjoyed my stay at Shama Central. Our FLAT was wayyyy bigger than we needed. We rarely went to the "living room" section. I'd say that our unit was 900 sq feet - maybe a little more. The kitchen space is SUPER tiny with a sink, and 2 burners, and ity-bity counter space, but I quickly learned that this is normal in HK. No oven - something I also found out was rare in HK. At these serviced apartments, they really do help you feel at home. When you first arrive, they have a goodie basket filled with snacks like Milano Cookies along with coffee and tea. I was getting really spoiled by the house cleaning that they do for you EVERY. DAY. I did my dishes, but I definitely never fixed my bed or cleaned the bathroom. They have a big screen T.V in the bedroom and another big screen T.V . in the living room. They only had 3 english channels so, I was pretty much limited to watching whatever they had on - which were mostly English Movies. They also have a small gym with weights and treadmills. There is a T.V. but the treadmill was facing away from it. The laundry facilities include 4 machines - 2 dryers and 2 washers. Please be courteous and take your things out on time, so other guests can wash their clothes too!! You must have your own laundry detergent though. You probably can purchase it from the front desk. We just bought ours outside at Park n Shop. Security is also good! So good that we couldn't figure out how to get in upon arrival. Their doorbell must have been broken. The office is on the 2nd floor, so you need to get in on the ground floor, then take the elevator up to the 2nd floor. Luckily, there as a nice lady sitting in front of the building, saw us with all our luggage, and let us in with her key card. Its situated on Peel Street which is 100 meters (to the right) to the wet market. Here you could buy your veggies and your meats! ( I wouldn't completely trust these wet markets though. They sell meat in 30-degree celsius weather!! To me, that translates to, "not fresh and probably spoiled".) Walk three more blocks down and you'll be on Queens Road! If you decided to walk left on Peel street, you will be on Hollywood Road! Very close to PMQ and other restaurants. You are in the Mid-Levels so it's better to expect everything to be catered to Expats. Safe Travels!

The biggest issue, however, is the incredibly slow internet service - definitely not a place for business travelers. Also, at 8 pm I called down to advise I would be checking out a day early and I wanted to ensure they did not charge me and the man at the management desk said he could not help me and I would need to call the next day after 9 am. But again - the worst is the terribly slow internet service. Of note: I lived in HK for 6 years so am well aware of what the standards here should be. They fall far short.

Located in the Sai Ying Pun area, it is a short train ride away from the downtown area which I like, has wonderful views if you get a higher floor and the hotel personnel at the concierge station are really nice and helpful. The housekeeping service is average but you get quality towels, toiletries and water daily. The rooms are flat out large and separated into a living are, sleeping area and bathroom area. There is plenty of closet space, a large work desk, a nice refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster, a two burner stove, pots, pans, dishes, hot water dispenser, knives and forks, a coffee maker a desk, flat screen, iron and ironing board and basically all the things you would want at home. The new MTR (subway) station is just around the corner. Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park is across the street for exercising or swimming, Hong Kong University is a twenty minute walk away up hill. Trams to Kennedy Town are a block away and there are two supermarkets within four blocks. The view of the harbor is spectacular if you get a higher floor but the windows could use more regular cleanings. The hotel is easily reachable by the A-10 bus from the airport. The arrival stop is about two blocks away and the departure stop about five blocks away and the busses have plenty of room for luggage. Suggestions: 1. Kennedy Town for evening drinks; 2. Sun Tak Center for one of many breakfast places; 3. Walking along the Harbor; 4. City Plaza Four (Tai Koo MTR Stop); 5. Maxim's Palace for dim sum; 6. Tai Tam Country Park; 7. Then I decided to visit their office and go deep to looking for a flat that I can afford and fit my needs. The agent that was assigned to me, Brian, is a nice and gentle, also informative man that genuinely is trying to get me the flat that I want. After asked some questions and some quick searches, he managed to find a fit, a great one for me. After chatting with Brian, I've came to learn that they are setting a good standard in their field. The most useful and insightful I've come across, you can ask him about his opinions on property matters. After the whole process, tt's easy to understand why they having a good reputation. I highly recommend Brian as his English is excellent, provided professional properties details to me, which help me saved a lot of time! And of course, really appreciated his efforts and eventually found me a place that greatly exceeded my expectations, based on the preliminary searching we had done online. The entire process was handled smooth and professionally. Not just Brian, also their helpful staffs. So, if you're looking for an agency / agent around Central, Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun, They must be your first choice to ask for consultations.

They have a great selection of properties to buy or rent, especially at the lower price range, which, unless you are LKS, means most of us. You will be able to find properties on both their own website, or Squarefoot, but as with all agencies and websites, you may find that those advertised are long gone. Despair not though, the chaps at Kamson will have a library of alternatives for you to view. What I did like was their excellent English. There are so many agencies, especially the more local and/or the ones with lower cost stock, that do not speak any English. If you are in the market, I would recommend you ask for Terrence. He is a great agent (with excellent English), and really does listen to your needs and wants. If you ask him to set his research at a price, he will do so, not a million more than your budget. He can be a bit difficult to pin down, especially if you are trying to fix up a specific time to view, but this is often due to landlord availability. Do give them a try if you are looking to buy in their area.
