This was an immediate drawback for me as a first time customer. It's not unclean but the dated appearance diminishes it and simply doesn't compete with other cafes along Beaumont Street. An obvious hit with the elderly though and a possible reason for not moving forward? The service was friendly, but I had to wait for my drink after my partner received his. Bringing them out together would have made more sense. Almost finishing our drinks before the food arrived made the wait between seem too long. I ordered the smashed avo and feta stack special. Not the choice if you're hungry as it was quite small. The bacon was plentiful and the 2 rostis were crispy. The avo and feta was a let down. Combining them took away the striking white from the feta and the avocado was turning more grey than fresh green. It combined as a tasty dish but elements could be improved.

I recently came here for my birthday and am already planning my next trip to Newcastle just to come back and eat here. The night I was there we had Napoli Style Garlic Bread - The bread is cooked in the woodfire oven and stuffed with garlic, oregano and mozzarella cheese, I can never eat any other garlic bread again after eating this one it is that good Margherita Pizza - The best pizza I have ever eaten, the pizza here is done in the true Napoli style, thin crust soggy middle (flip up the nose and curl in the sides) beautiful rich sauce and blobs of mozzarella cheese Pasta Alla Norma - Pasta was cooked perfectly al dente in the most amazing red sauce with chunks of beautifully cooked eggplant and ricotta Sicilian Canoli - Omg I dream about these! You get three canoli's filled with beautiful fresh ricotta. Volume down, lights up. - 10% surcharge for bookings 10+. I had no idea they charged this which was made all the more puzzling trying to pay amongst one another and not knowing why it wasn't totalling. I'm sure there is a valid reason for charging this (although it says it's discretionary) but the menu is expensive enough without lumping that on your customers too.

There are multiple bachelorette parties happening while we were here. We were seated it to very long tables, unfortunately I pick the seat really far from our host and couldn't hear any of the exclamations even though she tried to speak over the noisy patio. We were given cheeses that accompanied each of the four tastings. The tastings were ridiculously tiny so little I really didn't get a feel for any of the wines so I have no opinion on any of them. I did like that they paired up with certain cheeses that that was nice. I bought one bottle to go just because I said I would buy at least one bottle at every location. If you do have lunch there, you have to try their Crisp Pork Belly with spiced Chats potato, pickled cabbage, candy apples and Cider Jus. It's tasty, the candy apples and the crispy pork belly just go together beautifully, and the jus just complements the dish. The pickled cabbage You can go without, it didn't add anything to the dish. The Prawns with garlic, tomato, chilli and handmade Pappardelle is also delicious. They also have kids' menu. The place is spacious with plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. When she needs to interrupt, she does not do it abruptly. 3) Food - Blue Eye Trevalla (main course) : Highly recommended ! Fish + a party of mushrooms (4 different kinds to be precise) was a bliss. Mandagery Creek Venison (main course): Cooked perfectly, medium rare. Juicy and yummy Potato Puree (side) - MUST TRY ! It has to be the smoothest puree you ever had ! Nitro White Chocolate Ice Cream (desserts) - Very good, did not have the liquid nitrogen after taste. Two courses are $75 per person while three courses are $95 per person. Before the first course is served, there is a complimentary palate cleanser - Pumpkin skin with goat cheese and some spices. It's not my favourite as the goat cheese was a little overpowering, but interesting flavours. There is also a complimentary dessert of raspberry cube coated with coconut shavings and chocolate macaroon. I did not like the raspberry cube either...but that's just me.
