My mother had the unfortunate experience of staying at this facility in the assisted living side…read more The first week she was there she was abused by a care staff on the midnight shift. She was so traumatized by this experience her demeanor drastically changed. After complaining, I thought it would get better, but it didn't. Quite often the staff would not respond to the call button even though the policy is to respond within twenty minutes. Often it would be hours. My mother would call me and ask me to call the facility and ask that they go to her room. My family decided to put a video camera in her room. I discussed it with the Executive Director Julie and she tried to intimidate me and talk me out of it saying the care staff would not go into my mother's room because of the camera. The other staff told me I have a right to place a camera in her room. I thought the camera would deter the staff from bad behavior but she was abused again by a care staff on the midnight shift. She was cold hearted and completely disinterested in caring for my mother. What kind of sick twisted person treats a senior like this? The midnight shift does not have any supervision. They can do what ever they want. My mother was at the highest level of care to include two hours checks whether she presses her call button or not. My mother constantly called me for help because they were not responding. The facility will tell you that they can handle a resident at a high level of care but they can't. Forty two residents and two care staff. They are not staffed properly on any shift to care for residence that need more care. It's just impossible, although they will tell you they can. A few of the care staff confided in me about the poor management. Seeing her abused on video was horrific for my family. After two months of this I decided to move my mother to another care facility. The Executive Director Julie never reached out to me at all during this two month stay until she found out I was moving my mother to another facility. At that time, she came to my mother's room to talk me out of it. All she cares about is resident head count and profits. She has no business working in this capacity or running any facility that cares for senior. I do not recommend this facility. I was naïve in choosing this facility when I visited and didn't know how to do my research. It's too bad I made this mistake, and I want to help you make better decisions for your loved ones. No matter which facility you are considering I have two suggestions. 1. You can research any facility on the state website at: ccld.dss.ca.gov/carefacilitysearch. I was surprised how many people did not know about this site. Any complaints about the facility will be listed. Even if an allegation was not substantiated someone still saw a problem and filed a complaint. They just may not have had adequate evidence. Which leads me to my next suggestion. 2. In the state of California, you are legally allowed to place a video camera in your loved one's room. A facility might try to talk you out of it or be strongly against it. If they are, that is probably not the right place for any loved one. My mother and my family have been so traumatized by this experience. My hope is that no other person goes through this same experience.

We experienced the care provided by Assisted Living/Memory Care in two other facilities that were woefully and heartbreakingly substandard until we were blessed to find Pacifica in Chino Hills. Everyone we interacted with at Chino Hills was top shelf and sincere in their care for the residents. We cannot emphasize enough how important this is. They truly care. We did extensive research and visited several other senior living facilities in the area before selecting Pacifica and were impressed with their leadership, their memory care director (Vida), their med techs, their caregivers, their activity directors, and their receptionists. The facility is always kept clean and welcoming. It felt like home. We will eternally be grateful to everyone there for the loving care they provided to our Mom in the last years of her life.

Sadly, my mom passed away in April 2024. I'm sharing the thank you letter to the Atria staff and some pictures from her time there. I hope this helps anyone thinking of moving their loved one to Atria del Rey. Dear Atria Del Rey Family "Staff," As we mourn the passing of our beloved mother, we can't help but think of the time she spent at Atria the past 7 months. Moving her out of our home into Assisted Living and entrusting her care to you was one of the most difficult decisions we've had to make. We would have loved to have kept her close to us, in our homes. But if you knew mom, you knew how much she enjoyed talking to people and keeping busy. It was that reason that we tried something different in our family - it was for her. As we struggled to let go of her care and learned to trust your staff with it, we saw her smile, laugh, and dance again. Because of her love of Atria and your acceptance of her, we kept her there. On behalf of our family, thank you for accepting her with her declining memory, for making her feel welcomed, and for loving her in each of your own ways. Thank you for feeding her, giving her meds, helping her with toileting, assisting her with dressing and showers, and all of the other million ways you helped her. Whether you realize it or not, God has a hand in your work. He is working through his angels on Earth, the caregivers. Don't ever doubt that what you do at Atria matters. It matters more than you know. To honor my mom's memory at Atria, please think of her when that music starts and the dancing begins. Because she is dancing there beside you.

The staff here have genuine heart. They are kind, attentive, and consistently go above and beyond for their residents. Our loved one resides in memory care, and while this stage of life can be emotional, the Claremont Place team has made the journey feel lighter. The caregivers, Med Techs, administrative staff, dining staff, maintenance, laundry, and everyone in between are intuitive, patient, and treat residents with the dignity and warmth you hope for when you entrust someone you love to another persons care. Management is honest, respectful, and responsive. Any concern is met with clear communication and prompt follow through, and their experience working with older adults is evident in the way they anticipate needs before they become issues. It feels like a true partnership. They also bring joy to daily life. Holidays and celebrations are handled with thoughtful intention, and the food and activities create a sense of home and community. We visit often, but it brings real peace knowing we do not have to. Our loved one is in very good hands. We are genuinely grateful for the team at Claremont Place and the care they continue to provide.

In her room, she has a single bed, a large recliner, a dresser, two large chairs and a small desk for her computer with a chair. With all this in the room, she still has lots of space to maneuver her walker safely and get to the window and her air handler to make herself comfortable. The food is very good. We eat there often with my mom. Most of the servers make an effort to remember my mom's preferences and they bring her what she wants before she even asks. Staff is attentive, concerned and proactive. The front desk is a hub for all information and if they don't know the answer, they follow up. I will post more updates in the months to come. Overall we made the right choice.
