I saw the Macbeth Photography station at Florida Blog Con and since I'd heard great things about them and seen their headshots around town I decided to take a turn. Let's be honest- the fact that I had taken the time to doll myself up for the conference was also a deciding factor... It was a quick shoot but as soon as I sat down that familiar, awkward sensation filled my body. Oh boy- I was going to waste some money on these because I look like a mouse caught in headlights (a mouse seems more appropriate than a deer...). Luckily Jim started giving me some direction right away and before I knew it he had captured a great set of images. The image I chose looked effortless, but what you don't see in that picture is the lighting set-up as well as the hostage negotiation it took to get me to look relaxed and natural. A lot of work goes in to those great shots you see on everyone's websites and LinkedIn profiles around town and if you find yourself thinking "Dang, that's a great picture!" there's a great chance Macbeth Photography is behind it. Pro-tip: Macbeth Photography hosts a First Friday photo experience every month with different themed backdrops every time. I've had the chance to go and not only are the backdrops FABULOUS, but his team is also incredibly warm and immediately puts you at ease. Plus- their downtown location (in the Kres building off Orange Ave) is pretty perfect and even boasts some life-sized Star Wars figures.

Jim brought his equipment to our office, eliminating the need for our staff to have to travel. One by one, he took the photos that were exactly what we envisioned ... only better. PLUS, we've personally worked side-by-side with him 'back in the day' when we were in the events industry and it was always a pleasant experience knowing he was covering the photography aspect. I can't stress enough how that was NOT always the case. Chris Gillyard is a TRUE professional packaged with a kind soul, good sense of humor and ability to make you feel at ease while being photographed. That's a biggie for me since I'm a tad camera shy. So, to recap - think of all the positive adjectives to describe your perfect event photographer and apply them all to Chris Gillyard !!!!

My son iis not the most cooperative in taking pictures and as a matter of fact we had had his pictures done elsewhere first. they were very disappointing, so we contacted Chris. What a difference. He took the time to work with my son and capture my son and who he is beautifully. He even got him to smile naturally. Which is not easy. My son enjoyed working with him and loved all his ideas. I had hoped for 2-3 great pictures but what i got was over 200 AMAZING ones. We will never use another photographer for our family. There are none as talented as him!

I found Melissa through online searching and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly she responded to my inquiry for engagement photos. We met in person, checking out her portfolio and my husband and I agreed she was the style we were looking for. Getting our actual engagement shoot done was a bit of an adventure due to schedule conflicts and weather (yaaay, Texas!), but we got them done in the end and they turned out awesomely. Melissa was very sweet and professional throughout all of our communication. I had been using pinterest for ideas on poses for the wedding day and she was very open minded and flexible to the ideas I had. She even did a few of the ones I had on my pinterest page! :) Our photos were done within about 2 weeks from the wedding (some of my friends were waiting months for theirs, yuck!), and they were exactly what we hoped they'd be. Overall we had a great experience with her and I can say with confidence she was not at all stress inducing on the wedding day, like another vendor had been.

As a REALTOR I…read moreunderstand how important first impressions are and wanted the best quality headshots to make the desired impression to people that see my photo online, on a business card, or a sign. This is why I hired Spectacle Photo, I have seen headshots where the agent was trying to get the cheapest photographer and it shows. You get what you pay for, it's my opinion that Spectacle's prices are a great value (not cheap) but an amazing value for the quality of work you get and the obvious talent behind the lens. Rich and Caleb were incredibly patient and professional with me. I was very nervous since I have never been photographed professionally that I would have a hard time taking direction and that my photos would reflect that, but Rich did a great job of directing me and it all felt very easy and natural. The photos came out great, I will use them for all my photography needs moving forward!

Since she loves taking family photos she suggested we call a professional studio instead of Grouponing it. My sister and I haven't lived in Orlando since college, so we had no clue who the local favorite is. She asked her friends and they all recommended NYU Photography. We called for an appointment and booked it. Got a call from Norman and he threw out some photo shoot suggestions, one being, a walking photo shoot. Never heard of it, but said sure. Nevertheless, it was something quite different than your normal staged Lake Eola photo shoot (although we did shoot there at the very end, lol). We met up somewhere in downtown Orlando at a parking lot and so began the shoot. The background selected was nothing extravagant. The poses suggested were nothing forced. The motivation was casual. I believe his main objective was to have us just be relaxed. It wasn't until after we saw the pictures that we realized that his ability to capture crucial moments was better than we anticipated. Got to talk to Norman as we strolled a few blocks. He told me that he just moved back to Orlando from California and picked up photography as a hobby while working as a Nurse, or Murse, FOCKER!!!!! He said he entered some creative photo contest, won, and began taking his craft more serious. Glad we were able to book such a great photographer in the short amount of time that we were there. I'm sure his clientele has grown since our shoot. So, if I were you, I'd book now. The price was never an issue and the quality exceeds what you pay. Take a look at his work. He is quite the creative, think outside-the-box photographer in Orlando. Thanks Norm!! Good luck to your future. BTW - I had to be the first to do your Yelp review. I'm a Yelper, that's what I do.
