I need a gutsy coffee and one not tasting like skim milk. And the eggs on toast were a letdown for me. Doesn't compare to the good quality you find most places now. The bar has been raised. (I'm no fan of margarine on my toast) Who knows. Maybe their other foods may be the hook to keep people coming.

Today I ordered the breakfast roll and it was almost too hot to hold but I liked that. It definitely hit the spot at 2:30pm when I'd had nothing but a tea in the morning. The main gripe however and this goes for the previous cafe Enchante; the staff mop around you giving a sense of trying to get you out. We left before 3pm and they didn't close until 5pm so unless there is a spill or the floor is noticeably dirty why do it? Not only does it increase the chance of a customer slipping but also the staff carrying hot food and drinks.

But hey, smashed avo is the…read moregreatest thing ever, particularly when it's gussied up with some fancy herbs and fancy toast and a good crank of rock salt that sucks into the green mess and jazzes it up like a saxophone welded to the place where your arm is meant to go. Bonus points to the old beardy fella busking across the road. Dude was singing the blues like his dog ran away and his wife just left with his best friend and all he had left was his guitar and a pocket full of stories. Also next door there's a donut place where you can get maple bacon and nutella donuts for a cheeky dee-zert after coffee and toast. That never hurts.

Well, it came down to this one, and honestly, this one was nowhere near better than the previous I had visited. In a way, the breakfast options were limited, and not really what I was looking for, though I decided that since I was hungry I would make a choice nonetheless. The service was okay, but I found the tea to be a little too strong. It really isn't one that I'd be hurrying back to any time soon.

The customers are a blend of bare-footed surfer dudes and suited 9-5ers. A short walk from the hip Darby Street, Welsh Blacks offers a different pace and a haven for those who enjoy the art of coffee. Just as their business card says, these guys are "coffeesmiths." It's their trade. They're not young upstarts paying their way through uni. This is their full-time jam and it shows. The food menu is sparse and that I'm sure is a deliberate act. There's a few cakes and slices, two toasties, a salad and a chia pudding to select from. Most sit under the $10 mark. Unfortunately the morning I arrived their grinder wasn't playing fair. They were so apologetic to customers as they explained there was up to a 15 minute wait while they took stock of the situation. While it eventually was up and running I'm aware it may have altered their brews for the day and in this case I say, "Great marketing fair chaps!" because it's this reason (also the fact they're super cool and it's a chilled vibe) I'll be returning to enjoy more of their coffee menu.

I however returned here for lunch this time after having so many good experiences with Table 1 at Warners Bay and they kept up the good trend. I ordered the American Burger, which was chicken, sriracha aioli, slaw, American jack cheese and bacon. The chicken was juicy and thick and the melted cheese was awesome. Especially with the crispy bacon. This wasn't my favourite burger of all the things I've tried (at Warners Bay) but still very nice. I wasn't a big fan of the aioli with the chips but the chips were awesome by themselves. I tried a coffee which was quiet small compared to other places but I've become more accustomed to this and I didn't burn my mouth. The only fault that happened on this particular visit was my order for a Coke was forgotten and I had to ask another waitress about it when it hadn't turned up. Overall another great experience at T1E. I'll be back.

Kudos! The burger was fairly thick and juicy, grilled to a well down degree. I would suggest adding more sauces because the beef is not seasoned to a noticeable degree. I was able to taste the beef and tell it is fresh so that was a bonus for me. If you're using oils or butter while grilling don't. The fries were to die for. By far one of my go to for a burger or just coffee

Sadly years later my experience was not the same. Although I still liked then venue it seemed like the quality of food had dropped. My coffee was Luke warm at best, surely I'm not the only one who likes mulling over a hot coffee?! And my scrambled eggs were more of a salty thick omelette rather than a fluffy scramble. This was served on dry unbuttered toast, nothing on the side and not even any garnish that may pick up this sad and lonely looking little breakfast. So based on 'I can pay less' for a more appealing breakfast elsewhere I would rate this cafe experience average. I didn't even have the desire to finish it, not even to get my money's worth. I hope this place can do better, I'm all for local business.
