Dr. Gibson obviously takes a lot of pride in what he does and his dedication to always learning, the cleanliness of his office, the wide range of state-of-the-art equipment, and the honest compassion shows it. That's not all, though. The difference is not only the time he spends really LISTENING and analyzing what you're going through, but the understanding he has of how soft tissue works along with your skeletal framework. Unlike other chiros, he actually works on soft tissue stuff, from trigger point releases to really getting in there to work those stubborn knots out. His knowledge of home-based therapies, fitness, exercise remedies, and holistic/homeopathic solutions is extensive, and I've used his advice in lieu of going to physical therapists, cheapo massueses, orthopedists and etc. and felt loads better instantly. His analyses are always exceptionally in-depth and he explains everything passionately and engagingly, helping you really understand how your body works and why it's not working the way you want it to. After calling multiple doctors, Dr. Gibson was the only one willing to take me in as a new patient on such short notice. He was able to accommodate me and did something I wish most offices did, which was direct me to his website to fill out the new patient forms before going in. I love efficiency, and from past experiences, most doctors office's are not efficient. Unfortunately, my printer ran out of black ink before I could finish printing all the forms, so I arrived for my appointment a few minutes early. I entered the office and was greeted by Dr. Gibson professionally and courteously. I explained to him my printer situation, and he gave me the forms that I needed. I handed him the completed forms, and he invited me into the patient's room. In the room, he asked if he could evaluate me and I accepted. His evaluations involved some minor stretches and strength exercises. After performing the evaluation, I knew he was already better than the chiropractor I visit in Houston. I could tell he loves what he does by the way he got excited as he informed me of what my muscles were doing as I moved in specific directions. When you find a doctor like this, you want to keep them. I never felt rushed throughout the visit and he displayed some of the best bedside manners I've ever experienced. At the end of the visit, he mentioned having a contact in Houston who might be able to give me a chiropractor recommendation in the coming days. If you're an athlete and have sports-related pain this is the doctor you want to see. Don't be fooled by other chiropractors who specialize in older patients/accident cases. During my initial visit, Dr. Carpenos recommended spinal decompression therapy -- a treatment not covered by insurance. He then started to talk to me like a snake oil salesman: fast and confusing. I explained that I had a very limited budget and needed clarity before committing. So I asked him to slow down and I asked some very specific questions about how the treatment wold work, what the success rate typically was, and what I could expect if I decided to follow the treatment plan. Instead of answering my questions calmly, he became visibly annoyed and said he felt "pressured" by me. I reminded him that it was MY body and my very limited, hard-earned money -- and I was the one feeling pressured to spend it without him having the patience to explain this therapy that insurance wouldn't even cover a significant portion of. His first response was to say that financial hardship shouldn't be a barrier to treatment. When I said I'd have to decline since I couldn't afford the full amount he wanted (Close to 4,000 as I recall) he suggested fewer visits for about half the price. , When I expressed concern and asked if I'd still get relief he assured me I would, so I agreed to take part in the treatment. But at the end of the treatment, I felt no improvement. When I reminded him of his earlier assurance, he said, "I expected that you'd feel a bit better, see the results, want more improvement, and then commit to the final visits." He'd completely ignored my statement at the beginning that there WAS no more money. I felt completely misled and taken advantage of. The experience was not only financially draining but physically uncomfortable. His chiropractic adjustments were rushed, and during one session, he failed to check the placement of my arms during a bear hug/anterior thoracic adjustment. When "hugged" me sharply my fists were jammed into my voice box which hurt so I reflexively pushed back. He asked what was wrong and I explained what had happened. The following week, he asked if my cold was better. When I looked at him, confused, he said "Well, last week you had a sore throat, didn't you?" [It was surreal, like he just was unable to take any responsibility for his own actions.] He also gave questionable medical advice outside his expertise -- once telling me not to use sunscreen despite a family history of skin cancer -- and another time I heard him telling his staff that he'd advised another patient to ignore their cancer doctor's recommendations and to follow his own. Dr. Carpenos' demeanor throughout my treatment was pushy, rude, and evasive when asked direct questions. His team failed to track the decompression machine's pressure settings, so I had to remember my own numbers to ensure proper progression -- a detail that made me feel my investment wasn't respected. If you read his responses to other negative reviews, you'll see a pattern: sarcasm, deflection, and a refusal to take responsibility. I strongly caution anyone considering treatment here. While some patients may find relief, many don't -- and Dr. Carpenos seems far more focused on securing payment than on assessing whether spinal decompression is truly appropriate for your condition.

He still bills your insurance in addition for each visit he performs. He will tell you that he gets better results from patients if they sign the agreement and pay in advance, thus ensuring they stay...well of course they are going to stay, they paid in advance for the service. Dr. Rubino estimates how long the treatment will be for your area of treatment, then tacks on additional treatments (6 more months) after the problem is fixed for $139 a month (not covered by insurance, so an additional $834)! I told him I would sign an agreement that I am committed to getting better (why I go to the doctor in the first place) but figured it would put his mind at ease for this ridiculous agreement he is pushing on patients. When I went to check out, he left the $139 month for 6 months on the agreement!!! Loved the treatment but will not go back after being shaken down for money for services not rendered. Be careful, what you sign up for with this office.
