They explained the process clearly, & helped us understand what the costs were and where they would go. I know funerals can be expensive, but they kept the costs at about $10K for everything including taking care of the body, transportation, flowers, opening & closing the grave, etc. When dad died, they came for the body immediately and reassured us that he was cared for all through the process. One thing that helped a lot was the coffin selection. There was *zero* pressure for a more expensive coffin and they didn't even carry any really high cost options (everything was between $3500-$4500). This is a tough business for sad times, but I'm grateful we had the team at Canton Funeral Home to help us through it.

The pre-planning was easy -- they have a nice selection of reasonably priced caskets, etc. Also, there was no pushiness and no attempts to up-sell me which I also appreciated. When my relative passed away, everything went really smoothly and the staff was present and supportive in every way. One thing I was particularly impressed by was the light hand that was used to make up my relative's face. She really did look natural and pretty. Where Northside Chapel really stood out for me was after the funeral and burial. The staff continued to be pro-active and follow through with me in every possible way. They have shown exceptional courtesy and professionalism even in trying circumstances. I highly recommend them.

However I am so appreciative of the folks over at Mayes Ward-Dobbins that I just had to write a review, so that others can see the wonderful services they provide. James and the whole team from Mayes Ward worked with our family through the entire end of life process. From the planning stages into the actual viewing/funeral/burial once my father-in-law passed away, they were right by our sides, providing excellent guidance and support. Their facility on Church Street is modern but tasteful, and provides ample room for even large scale visitations and funerals, such as ours. The staff worked closely with us to take care of all the little things, such as easels for pictures, TV hookups for a slideshow, and water and mints for... well, you can guess how we were feeling after several hours of up close and personal chatting with friends and relatives. My points of reference for end of life services are limited to when my grandparents passed away last year, however when I compare the experiences I cannot help but feel blessed that we were able to work with Mayes Ward-Dobbins for my father-in-law. They are kind but thorough, gentle but competent. My condolences go to anyone who is in need of funeral services, however if you are in that situation, Mayes Ward-Dobbins is a wonderful and compassionate place to go for the next phase.
