IF YOU ARE SCARED TO TRY THERAPY, THIS IS FOR YOU…read more It took me a decade of cycling through addiction, highly toxic and abusive circumstances and a lack of understanding of my role in it all, to get to a point where I would even consider therapy. I meticulously combed the internet for someone in Bakersfield who could potentially meet my need for adequate mental health services. I saw so many reviews from defeated, frustrated individuals who had tried places in town and felt unseen. I saw horrified reviews describe being texted an hour in advance of an appt that the therapist was cancelling. These things scared me, not knowing who I could trust to confide in and consistently show up for me. Then I saw Meagan's profile and website. She had good reviews and I appreciated the art component she could offer in therapy. I took a risk and gave it a try. Well, I am on the cusp of a year of in-person talk therapy with her and I can tell you this has been one of the best choices I've ever made. Meagan is thoughtful, reliable and a great resource for overcoming any mental health needs. My own included physical, emotional and sexual abuse that left deep scars and even worse coping mechanisms. Meagan has helped me to unpack it all. With her, I have developed strategies that help me to feel successful in my day-to-day life. I can now work through feelings and situations in healthier ways that make me feel supported and accountable. Her care encourages me to be my own best advocate. I really could go on and on, but truly my experience receiving therapy with Meagan has been transformative. As someone who was told growing up that therapy is for crazy people, I can tell you how wrong that statement is. It's for people who will put effort towards getting healthy, which is honorable.

Let's face it: the last few years have been unprecedentedly HARD on everyone, and I was no…read moreexception. I needed someone to talk through my anxieties, stressors, anger and fears stemming from not only the current insanity of the world, but also my past traumas. I am beyond grateful I found Meagan to help guide me to a place of greater peace, mindfulness and serenity. Meagan is a true professional. She is easy to talk to and lay bare your soul. She is a wonderful listener with academic and emotional intelligence. She is up to date with the latest studies and theories, allowing for a variety of approaches to fit your unique needs. I always felt like I was talking to a highly insightful, caring, thoughtful and helpful friend. I am confident you will too. Just like we seek coaches and trainers to better our physical bodies, our minds need a professional coach from time to time. If you're reading this, you must feel you need that guidance and training to be better. Go for it. See Meagan. Take care of your whole self.

I started seeing Daniel Burke years ago for something very serious that I needed real help with. At first, I wasn't a fan--I would leave our sessions angry, frustrated, even telling myself I'd never go back. But I always did. And over time, I realized why I was feeling that way: he was challenging me to grow. He pushed me to confront things I had buried for so long, things I didn't want to deal with but desperately needed to. Other therapists either couldn't get me to that place or simply didn't try. I have a lot of deep-rooted trauma that has affected my life and relationships in ways I didn't even realize. But Daniel helped me walk through it. He's not the type of therapist who just sits there, nods, and tells you what you want to hear. He's not there just to make you comfortable or to keep you coming back just to bill insurance. He's there to help you truly heal and grow--even when it's hard. I call him "Dan the Man" because he embodies what a real therapist should be. He's not your friend--he's someone who helps you become a better, stronger version of yourself. Reading some of the negative reviews makes me sad because I know firsthand that growth can be painful. It's possible those people just weren't ready to face their trauma--but that doesn't mean Daniel is a bad therapist. If you're truly ready to do the work, I highly recommend him. He helped change my life.

Respect and self control are very important when dealing with vulnerable and traumatized people. With that being said, I do not recommend this therapist.
