We were looking for a new design firm after our previous designer was no longer available. Consequently, we engaged Daor Design to update our business card design with plans to potentially use them for several additional projects based on their: 1) previous Yelp ratings and 2) portfolio of client projects on their website. They were quite responsive from the initial inquiry through their initial invoicing. Afterwards, we found that the communication with Doar became increasingly challenging. The main purpose of our project was to: a) reformat our card from Portrait to Landscape format and 2) update some required text. We thought that this was a relatively simple project compared to design projects we had completed with others in the past and we were on deadline. Initially, we gave instructions which allowed for some degree of creativity within our stated parameters. What we received was creative but well outside our expectations. Subsequently, in the first revision, we gave specific feedback and instructions (with examples) regarding our expectations. This time we received an update with less creativity but still not focused on our primary requests. With some reluctance, and now past our deadline, we attempted to salvage this project by extending our engagement for a final revision. For this revision, we gave explicit feedback and specific instructions. After receiving their update, we were surprised to find that it still deviated from our requests in several respects and still didn't include some changes that were ignored in our last revision. Upon further inquiry, we received particularly condescending, didactic feedback apparently aimed at expanding our insight into "best practices" within the design industry. To add insult to injury they suggested that they could NOW meet our expectations but since our request was "outside of our [their] best practice recommendation we'll need to extend the budget." In other words, despite our ignoring your "explicit feedback and specific instructions," we can give it another try if you extend our engagement AGAIN. We are not in the Design Business and are not particularly interested in expanding our knowledge of industry "best practices." However, we would like to work with partners who will, at least, take our requests and expectations seriously. If you cannot or unwilling to, at least attempt, to meet our expectations, then say so upfront and we will find another design partner. We applaud those who may have had better experiences with this firm. Obviously, our experience was quite disappointing and did not come close to meeting our expectations, especially given their previous glowing reviews on this forum. Unless their communications and service delivery changes significantly, we can not, in good conscious, recommend that others use the services of Daor Design. read more

I was referred by a friend and I did my due diligence and checked out other projects that he has done and the one thing that I noticed was that they were all different. There was no "cause it worked before" theme going on. It was worth a trip to the city to sit down and talk about the goals and in a short turn around time I had previews to decide on. I love my business cards! Eli's design is the perfect balance between elegant simplicity and bold confidence. I didn't give him much direction, more a list of what I didn't want rather than concrete ideas. I thought I at least had my colors nailed down. Eli always incorporated color options in his revisions. I don't think he was crazy about my colors and it was his way of steering me in a better direction.
