Dan's Whetstone Co., Inc. currently offers over 350 products and is one of few Arkansas Novaculite stone producers that quarries, manufactures, and distributes Natural Arkansas Whetstone products worldwide. Dan's owns over 500 acres of mineral properties and controls several quarries that supply the various grades of Novaculite used in manufacturing. According to the reserve projections these quarries will supply the next four generations or more, which would lead one to believe that Dan's Whetstone will be around for many years to come.

Dan's Whetstone Co., Inc. is celebrating over 40 years of quality and service. Mr. Dan Kirschman, a mining engineer and graduate from Colorado, School of Mines, developed a fascination with Arkansas Novaculite rock. He began cutting and finishing stones as a hobby after moving to Arkansas, thus the beginning of Dan's Whetstone Company, 1976, with help and support of his family and simple philosophy - quality and service. Today, Dan's Whetstone Company is recognized as the industry standard, leading producer and supplier of Natural Arkansas Whetstone all over the world offering hundreds of different Arkansas Novaculite products.
Meet the Business Owner: Dan K.
After graduating from Bent County High School in Las Animas, Colorado Danny Kirschman moved to Golden, Colorado to begin his studies at the Colorado School of Mines. After graduating with an Engineer of Mines Degree, Dan began working as a mining engineer. Through the years Dan worked in various parts of the country eventually moving to Hot Springs, Arkansas where he worked as a mining representative and traveled all over the world.
While living in Hot Springs, Arkansas Dan developed a fascination with the Novaculite rock that is used to make whetstone. He even began cutting and finishing the stones as a part-time hobby. Naturally during his travels Dan carried some of his handy work with him and began to notice that there was a need and demand for the whetstones. So when Dan's boss told him they were going to relocate him to Houston, Texas Dan decided to stay in Hot Springs, Arkansas and start his own business.
