Best day ever!! I…read morecan't say how I loved this! Took 2 kids 5 & 7 yrs old and they loved it. We found so many crystals of all sizes. I should have stayed for 4 hrs or more instead of 2. Wear long pants, bring gloves, chisel, and be prepared for fun. Our host was soooo friendly and helpful. And I bought more crystals inside their store. I am definitely coming back!

Lance was a superstar on every level. Not only was he very personable and pleasant, he was extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions about anything. From how crystals are formed to what type of berries were growing in the woods to the harmless nature of the few giant horseflies we saw (and he caught and released). Lance was eager to help and did everything he could to please everyone on our tour. To say he was attentive is a gross understatement. In this regard he was an over achiever. I watched him as he literally ran form person to person to help carry heavy items. He went above and beyond to make this a memorable experience that we will never forget. And it was very obvious that the reason he did it was because it's his nature. It's in his DNA. His enthusiasm was contagious and uncommon these days. Lance is an absolute gem! My only regret is that I didn't have more cash to give him as a tip. We left the mine with not only a haul that exceeded our expectations but wonderful memories of a day spent with a great person. Lance's reputation precedes him. After our tour in the day or two that followed, we had to mention him to strangers we were talking with at two other mines. The instant we mentioned his name, they all said we know Lance, he's a great guy! He is also a fantastic tour guide. Lance if you are reading this I want you to know you made our trip and you made memories that will indeed last a lifetime. I am not a rock hound. I took this trip because my daughter and wife wanted to try it. I am into it now. We are seriously considering coming back again next year. It was well worth the price of admission and then much more. If you are thinking about going to this mine, check and see if you can get on the tour. If Lance is your guide, do not think twice. Book it! You will have a very good day!

We learned so many new things from her and she confirmed a few things we had been suspecting. We had a blast with her! It was like talking to an old friend we just hadn't met. We didn't get the privilege of meeting her husband, but we LOVE the pieces he has handcrafted that they have in the shop, and we both left with some gorgeous new things. I am excited to patronize their Etsy shop in the future, but I am grateful that we were able to visit in person and feel the wonderful energy that emanates from these beautiful creations. My friend bought Julie's book, Crystal Messengers, and has hardly put it down since we left. We are so happy we stopped in and best of all, we left there gaining a new friend!

This was our first dig for crystals; now we are hooked. We really had no idea what to expect other than what we had read before planning our excursion. Julie is phenomenal, a wealth of knowledge, free spirit. She is so knowledgeable and full of wonderful stories. She shared excavating hints and tips, which I truly believe lead us to find really nice crystals for our first time. The mountain is full of quartz just on the surface without digging. After our dig, at the recommendation of Julie, we visited Collier Springs. What a refreshing break from the July heat! The area is truly magical and definitely worth the drive from the Crystal Seen Excavation site. The pure crystal clear waters are cold, refreshing, and healing. Just what we needed after a very hot July dig...the icing on the cake Thank you, Julie, for sharing the pure beauty of Mother Earth. This is an experience that we will never forgot. Many blessings to you and your family. Looking forward to our next outing.

In the past we always walked away with some nice quartz crystals - not gem quality but nice crystals. So on a recent trip to Petit Jean State Park, we decided to go back to the Jim Coleman mine, because we felt we could trust them to deliver some quartz crystals - and my grand kids were with us. After all their website guarantees that you will find crystals. Well trusting them was a mistake. We paid $60 to go to their Miller mind and found nothing. The collecting area had clearly not been replenished with fresh tailings out of the mine for years. So stay away - this is a rip off. The collecting area was hard baked clay, with nothing on the surface, and even when we dug into the hard clay, we found not a single crystal.

Upon entering I met this lady and she can talk! I was so engaged with her and enjoying my conversation that if I didn't leave, it would have gotten too hot. I was lucky I did go to the store instead of going straight to the mine. The address on their website took me to the mine but it's at the store that you lay your entrance fee, and buy a bucket and digging tool. The drive to the mine is a little unnerving, especially if you have a rental vehicle and not a truck. There are dirt roads that have been driven many many times, so it is hard, but they were asleep photos and some mud. They are signs near every time so that you don't get lost but be very careful if you're using your phone as a GPS has my GPS cut out about the middle. You will definitely find quarts. There are little pieces everywhere. If your lucky you'll find a larger one. When I was done, I went back and bought a bunch more for my wife and kids.

The shop tender was friendly but pretty much talked non-stop about her "knowledge" of the meaning of stones/wands/crystals and how to use them, half of which was INCORRECT, wasn't able to peacefully browse the shop due to this and her repeatedly offering unasked for advice on locations to meditate on ley-lines or cleanse my crystal jewelry. I was also looking for oxalic acid to clean the mineral deposits off of the crystals I had recently mined up the hill but when I asked for it she acted like I was personally dipping her in acid and promptly ranted about crystals being living beings and cleaning them with the acid was killing them.... A few days after my stop I had a new local customer that had purchased a piece of jewelry from me stop at the shop and informed me on her return that the shop tender had informed her that her new crystal heady wire wrap was filled with dark negative energy and that she couldn't wear it till it had been cleansed, thankfully my customer took it with a grain of salt and is enjoying her new pendants. I create and personally wear crystal/gemstone jewelry, I have done a ton of research on the meanings of stones and always have people comment how my jewelry makes them happy or is calming depending on the piece. Will not be returning to this location and won't be recommending it to others.
