She could tell we had never done this before, guided us through every step and gave solid advice, with us also being able to tell that she wasn't just trying to get a sale and then have us leave. Another woman who worked there joined in and was very sweet to us as well. We found one at the mart across from Sweet Home Furnishings. We crossed the street and ventured inside. We found many an early era item. The store was fascinating and took me back to classier times. Though I'm quite modern with my styling. I couldn't help but fall in love with some of the rustic and early American items in the shop. From early globes to tarnished maps draped along the wall. The owners probably have an item for everyone. There is a nice flow to the shop, and as we made it to the end I didn't think I'd find anything to purchase. But this modernist was proven wrong when he spotted an American War Propaganda Poster from 1942. It was perfect, and I purchased it with haste. So here's to you Sweet Home Furnishings. You made my Saturday a great one, and helped me to embrace Vintage just a little bit more.

I've been to just about every thrift shop in Little Rock by now (being new in town and bereft of furniture...) and this is the first one I'd been to that has the killer combination of great service, unique and wonderful selection, and good prices. There were two people working there when I went in, and they were both super friendly and really helpful. We'd been looking for hardwood dining room chairs, and we found not just one beautiful hardwood chair (with a leather cushion no less), but a *set of five* Definitely worth making the trip!

In part because…read morethe wife and I love gardening, and in part because a big greenhouse is the perfect place to pretend you're in Jurassic Park As an experienced imaginary-dinosaur wrangler, I've got a decent handle on what makes a good and a bad garden store, and this one (which we dropped in on on their grand opening weekend!) struck me as an especially well-presented. It was super clean, impeccably organized, and well-staffed. They have a very good selection of both the big local plants from grasses to trees, and the more obscure plants such as air plants and succulents. They even have large outdoor stashes of fresh wood mulches of various kinds, which they'll help you load up (but make sure you've got an empty trailer, truck bed, or trunk you don't care about to do it!) If you're at all interested in checking out a new place to fill your plants needs, this is a great one! The only things I didn't see were bags of soil (which I'm sure I just missed) and tools - I didn't see any tools at all. None. I can only imagine I just missed them, but just a heads-up that it may not be the best place to find non-plant garden supplies.
