Seriously, there are almost no organic markets in the area. Before this place opened, if you wanted organic food, you'd have to hop a bus for about 40 minutes. Not pleasant! Since they opened, I've checked them out about once (or more) times a week and I must say that it gets better every time. The selection increases and I do believe they're also getting fresher items. Now, they've got a lot more organic fruits (mangoes - oh joy!, melons, lots of apples and pears). Plus they've got an array of specialty grains, nuts, and rice along with green and/or organic toiletries, cleaning products, and of course...Vitamins! They also have a deli where you can order organic sandwiches and such, but I don't have the menu with me to comment on it. The prices here are pretty standard as far as organic markets go. Some things I do wish they could finagle the price down with their wholesalers, so the retail price could be more reasonable (sigh), but all in all I can't complain. Organic costs, but do you really want to put a price on your health?... Who am I kidding?! Yes, factor in the cost while you shop. I set a budget for essentials and stick to it. Though there are plenty exotic & tempting items that any foodie would love (the mangoes and dandelion greens are my personal favorites).

Another key thing at this location is that they carry kombucha on tap! For you to refill your growlers! Definitely something you don't find everywhere. It would have been nice if you informed the customer that you guys are opening at NOON on ELECTION…read moreDAY. See attached photos of email confirmation of Nov. 2. It state Mon to Fri 9:00 to 9:00. No where does it mention Nov. 3rd special hour. I found out upon arriving at the store. The pathetic think was there were 2 employees working insides nevertheless. What is the point of opening late if you have employees working at least since 9:30 AM for I arrived around 10:00. Doesn't make sense. I immediately called customer service to cancel my order and had them ship to me with free shipping. If they can't be flexible so can't I. With the pandemic I planned all my errands stops once a week. I don't have time to make a 2nd trip, especially when they could have hand me the order. CS said the hours are in banners on the website. Do you expect people to check on you site daily!?!? I noticed you have the special hour on Yelp now. But what customer check is their READY FOR PICK UP email not Yelp. Well, I do now. My order was less than $20.00. Due to their inflexibility of not handing the order, which was ready for pick up, Vitamin Shoppe have to pay for the shipping and all the credit card fees. Note the order need to be cancel and reorder, meaning 3 transaction fees. On the email the hours are Mon to Fri 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. No where on the email does it state election day special hours. But on Yelp the hours are 9:30 to 9:00. Can you guys made up your mind?!?! As a customer it is very confusing. Which one should I follow. I usually take the confirmation email word instead of a third party source as Yelp. It seem that Yelp is more trustworthy than your internal email. At least Yelp has the special Election days hours. But shouldn't it be the other way around? Kudos to the management. Keep up the good work and patrons don't need the brick and mortar store anymore.

They have a hot foods section - brown rice with veg (peas/carrot) and 4 options of sides will bring you to $12. I opted for their special of 2 lunch orders to get a free large soup (16oz). The guy really packs in the food so for $12 a box it's def worth if you're in a time crunch and want a filling vegetarian meal. To order, order at the counter, pay at the cashier, and bring back your receipt to collect your food. The food is mildly seasoned and not super oily which I love - I def go home to add hot sauce/red chili flakes at home though. After I got the food I walked around the store to look around. Not sure about the fresh produce, but the dairy section is sooo pricy compared to what I'm used to at Trader Joe's for things like organic milk or non-dairy yogurt. I get that it's a small business but for the amount and speed my household consumes dairy, we got to go for Trader Joe's.

They have healthy options for sour cream, cookies, teas, ice cream, cereals, pasta, sauces, flour, milk, cheese, chips, etc. You name it. They have it. Let's face it - the only trade joe's in Queens is a mess. Way too crowded. And the nearest Whole Foods store is in Manhasset, NY. That's too far if you don't have a car. This store gives queens residents another option for organic, healthy food without having to wait in long lines at Trader Joe's or drive all the way to Manhasset, NY. By the way, this store's vitamin shop is AMAZING. The person who is in charge of the vitamin area is knowledgeable in what to offer clients based on their illness. This store also serves shakes, and meals, which I have yet to try. A "healthy meats" store (extension of this store) opened up nearby and I'll check that out too.
