I found Daniel Toma's page via Yelp as I was trying to find a new accountant. I called and told him about my situation : I needed my 2015 taxes done as soon as possible as my husband and I were trying to get a pre-approval from a mortgage. "Phone bill about two G's flat / No need to worry, my accountant handles that" Being self-employed and preferring to have a professional to handle my taxes, I've dealt with my fair share of accountants/bookkeepers. And by far, Daniel is the best. He is prompt and accountable (harhar) with his correspondence. I prefer communicating via email and Daniel usually responds within hours - making sure to address any concerns and clearly shows his excellent tax knowledge and his understanding of my tax situation. In fact, he made a couple of suggestions to help lessen my tax burden in the future -- things that never occurred to me... and were never brought up previous tax professionals seeming more interested to get your taxes done (sometimes by a subcontractor) and move onto the next client. Also, it's nice having a tech-savvy accountant in Daniel -- I didn't have to explain why my files 'weren't opening', I didn't need to 'follow-up' and we didn't need to kill a forest with hardcopies of everything. Most everything was handled over email/cloud storage and we only met to handle some unavoidable paperwork at his Yonge & Eglington office. In fact, even our meeting was productive as Daniel really took the time to understand my situation. On top of being thorough and compassionate, his rates are reasonable and fair price for the peace of mind and excellent advice he provided.
