During that time, I met with a handful of specialists both in person and over Zoom. Something about each of those doctors didn't sit well with me, so I told my wife I wasn't going to proceed. About two weeks later, I looked at myself in the mirror and thought there must be more options available. I decided to look at doctors in Newport Beach and Dr. Varona came up. I looked at his website and thoroughly read his reviews. I was highly impressed because many clients shared wonderful experiences about him, his staff and their results. I contacted their office, and had a Zoom consultation with Nallely; Dr. Varona joined for the last part. He was the only doctor who actually said the transplant would improve what I was looking for, shape my face better and lastly, he did not pressure me. He was also realistic, letting me know that the number of grafts the other doctors suggested would be too many for my donor area, which would leave noticeable spots. From there I had additional questions and his staff always responded right away. I decided to move forward and I had my procedure 3 days ago. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH WORDS TO SAY ABOUT DR. VARONA AND HIS STAFF! I checked in and we spoke about what I wanted; he then shared his opinion. Keep in mind, he does one surgery a day and you're the only patient they care for. After drawing on my head, 3 nurses also looked so we were on the same page and away we went. Please know his facility is meticulously clean, sanitary and modern. I HATE needles and I felt zero pain for the full day I was there. Half the time was spent extracting, then they brought in lunch for me and finally the second half was placing the grafts. There was TV, movies, music and really whatever I wanted. I spent some time doing all of that, talking with them, and even slept a bit. INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: Losing one's hair is a bit of a gut-punch to most guys; I know it certainly was for me. I started losing my hair around 18 years old and the decline was rather steep. Before I knew it, I had a huge bald spot at only 23 years old! I used the Bosley procedure at that time, and achieved, frankly, disappointing results considering the cost. Within a few years you couldn't even tell that I had had the procedure with the exception of a giant scar on the back of my head. I lived with a considerable diminution of self-esteem as a result of my bald spot that was only exacerbated after my divorce. Taking the step to walk through the doors at Vantis took some courage in and of itself, but oh was it worth it! Good method, good equipment, a doctor involved in the procedure, no family doctor or medical group using robots on the side for extra revenue (The tech is not there, I visited those clinics. It's obvious it's side $$$). Good value. He puts his name right there! There isn't a "Turkish conglomerate" hiding his work! I didn't want to use the law of averages on something this permanent. His clinic is the only clinic I saw where his marketing material is simply him being very descriptive and transparent about the protocol and methodology. No expensive office and online marketing with fancy BS to make it look like their process is better. You are paying for that overhead, but it doesn't mean they are using the best practices! Likely the opposite if you follow simple logic. Everything Dr. Rob says on his website, he follows! He called me right away when I first contacted his clinic (no marketing person pushing me treatments) and was honest about waiting and treating my hair with medication first, then going for surgery (that says a lot right there). He was with me the whole time and answered all my questions thoughtfully. Executed most of it and oversaw the whole process when technicians were involved. VERY CLOSELY. Technicians who clearly work directly with him very well and are vetted strongly. They were not doing his job for him; they were there to assist for the best outcome. The procedure was very "chill". Everyone was very friendly and thoughtful. Easier than going to the gym! The proof is in the pudding. Immediately after the surgery, you can tell the contour was great. The donor and the recipient sites were not botched nor too painful. The holes were very small and healed fast (good tools, good technique). I noticed during the procedure how carefully he extracted from the donor area to make it more evenly spread so that the healing is better and looks less spotted after. Robots will leave a very noticeable block there, and probably so will technicians who potentially don't care about the outcome. I wish medicine were done more like this. And marketing didn't take over MedSpas so much. Thank you for keeping it about the patient, process, and the results, doctor! Good customers appreciate it!
