What a cute shop!…read more This is a bit of a belated post, as we visited back in August. BUT, I wanted to delay the review because we ended up using one of their fun services, and I wanted to make sure we received the product in the end. So, hubby and I were casually walking down this street to window-shop, and noticed this shop (there's also a chance that hubby notated this shop down in his notes because they sell stationery, and we love stationery, sooo, there's that possibility). Walked in, was warmly greeted, and we perused what they had. Lots of creative juices flowing in there and great inspiration for one to take some of their stuff to create your own artistic visions. The main item that we did with them was to send a postcard back to ourselves, but sort of by "telegraph" (the postal service). We actually wrote out the postcard to our future selves, and they typed it out on a real typewriter, pasted it nicely onto the wooden postcard, and shipped it out to us internationally. We got it around two weeks later (Vancouver to California), and it was packaged in a nice padded brown envelope so it wasn't damaged along the way. It's now sitting on one of our travel/memento shelves! Would love to make another visit whenever we come back to Vancouver. Seriously, whenever there's a fun or unique service/experience, it's so nice to try it out; it's a gift for your future selves!

And that's why I was surprised to find a quasi-furnishings store I actually liked. Granted, Provide in Crosstown carries more than just fixtures and accessories for your abode. Among the designer espresso makers are some pretty fashionable clothing items, which, for me, broke up the monotony of the selection of housewares (lamps, vases, tables, cushions, etc.). Someone must have had people like me in mind when they came up with the concept for this store. On to the fashion! I found some beautiful (although pretty high-end) tees by designer James Perse as well as some local style, like Vancouver's own Shereen De Rousseau's gorgeous cross-platform jewellery.

Great Local Retail! I am not a heavy person but I tend to…read morebe sensitive to lower back pain. I bought them a folding Thai mat, one of the store specialty. I am super happy with it. Despite the fact that it's useful when I have a friend or family for a sleepover or a vacation, I use it when i have a sore back. The fact that it's stiffer than my actual sleeping bed help me feel better. I first experienced this feeling during my trip around the world. Whenever a guesthouse was offering a lazy soft mat, the next morning a lower back pain was kicking in. In some other places, I got to experience stiffer mats and I was feeling much better the next morning, even though my first impression when I was trying on the bed could have been counterintuitive. I learnt since then that in Asia people are used to sleep on much more sturdy mattress than our Western style soft bed. And I tell you: with some practice to get used to it, it may be for the best! Conclusion, I think for kids and most of the students it could be a daily mat option and a spare for adults. Attached is a picture from their website of the one I bought from them.
