As a recently established landscape design firm involved in a significant backyard renovation we…read moresought the advice of a sales representative for the selection of stone veneer for the vertical elements of our project. When our contractor went to pick up the product, they determined that the stone veneer was inappropriate for the required application. We then had to scramble to modify the stone, at our cost, causing delays for our contractor and much irritation for our client/homeowner. As the president of our firm I went out to Parkview's office to discuss the situation. I was met with a sales rep who's defense was disingenuous and arguments circuitous and in some cases, untrue. It was like meeting with Donald Trump. Nothing was resolved. So small business owners - beware! Your reputation is at stake. There are many other reputable companies here in Toronto to build strong and honest business relationships with.

Staff recommended that I purchase a large yard bag that I could reuse for the loads. I found the loaders in the back excellent and they installed load on a wood skid to help disburse load in truck bed. I would rate them 4.5 out of 5. A professional business with great prices. I will be coming here for future project materials.

The Danforth

From the Danforth Village BIA website;…read more "Tracy Hardware was first established in Aug. of 1954. John and Genevieve Tracz moved to the Danforth in that year with their 2 beautiful daughters, Louise and Suzanne. Mrs. Tracy is still well known in the community and is loyal and extremely helpful to her customers. By the way, the name Tracy was a nick name that came from the army when John was serving. Tracys carries everything from the kitchen sink to pretty decorations for the garden. They still fix windows and screens. The motto that the customers made up themselves is: "If you can't find it anywhere else, GO TO TRACYS" P.S- Try TRACYs FIRST!!!" I went in today and Mrs. Tracz, who must be in her 80's, helped me with a pair of fluorescent tubes. Any place opened and run by the same family for 58 years, gets an automatic 4 stars from me. As far as inventory goes, it's getting a bit rough around the edges, hence the deduction of one star from a perfect score.

About 25 years ago I caught site of the store and couldn't believe that it was still in business. I went in and talked to the original owners (or proprietors) but of course they didn't remember me.The Toronto Star ran a human interest story on them a few years later. When I was there I was amazed at the depth of merchandise they carried. If it is still the same then they will have some very old and rare parts that you may not find anywhere else. I hope it is still the same. I wish them a lot of success and happiness. Roy Isherwood
