Having been a student of dance for many years and as a patron and lover of dance, theatre and art, The Dance Element is head and shoulders above everything I've encountered short of Broadway in NY. Wilmington NC is lucky to have this gem. You can't imagine the care and thought that goes into every class, into the students well-being and into their showcase productions. The Dance Element owner is an extremely talented dancer in her own right with an amazing gift to help students learn to dance, have fun, master choreography and as a bonus build strong foundations to live confident lives. From a production/show point of view - I've had the pleasure of seeing productions from the audience's perspective and have been in awe of the beauty of how it all comes together. Recently, I've been able to see behind the scenes as the recent Christmas showcase "The Grinch" is coming to life. The set designs are spectacular, the artistry and creativity of the owner is nothing short of award winning. Her passion comes through every detail - she wants her students and their families to have the best experiences and she delivers on that promise. There's a tremendous amount of work that goes into developing a theme, creating the beautiful choreography, set designs that bring the story to life, lights, music and overall production but The Dance Element wouldn't do it any other way. Which isn't a problem as personally I prefer a more relaxed environment. Especially for an intro class. However, I didn't particularly respect being told I didn't qualify for the new client special, that was definitely a choice on their part. But I'm writing this review more so because upon leaving-- there was a safety concern in the parking lot... make sure you carry whatever defense tools you prefer when attending this studio. This isn't any fault of their own, so I wouldn't hold it against them, as they do take safety measures of covered windows and locked doors during sessions. But I thought it important to mention. Overall I think they are a nice addition to the dance community here in town :) best wishes for continued success.

Yoga and pottery, could you have something more relaxing?…read more I haven't taken a yoga class in the studio but I have experienced Jess as a yoga teacher and I have to say it was awesome. She taught a class external to the studio and it was so relaxing. I am not a flexible yogi and I felt comfortable with the ease of it. I wasn't intimidated and she gave you poses to do if you couldn't manage others. Now the pottery? UGH - IN A GOOD WAY. I am taking one of the beginner pottery series through Pineapple with Steph. It's AMAZING. I am terrible at it buuuuuuuut the class is so fun, regardless of my talentless pottery skills. Steph teaches you how to do it all and makes it looks so easy but is so encouraging. The class is small and intimate so she can always help when you need it. It is so relaxing with the music and the groups. I love that there are hours you can go try it outside of class time too. It's a great place to get creative or relax, even buy some pottery! Love it.
