My friend and I were going to stay here for a night in August 2017. We got there late at about 9 or…read more10pm, put our stuff on our beds and then started getting ready for the night. I was about to put my stuff in the "locker" under the bed when I noticed how filthy it was. Then I took a step back and noticed how poorly cleaned the rest of the room was too. I then noticed that there were weird white marks on all the cracks and crevasses of the bed frames. That was a huge red flag. Having worked at a hotel, I know where they spray for bed bugs. So, I checked the foot of the bed and right there was a live BEDBUG. I cannot describe the panic my friend and I went through. Instantly gathering up our things and piling it on the plastic chair in the room. I went downstairs to tell the man at the front desk that we had found bed bugs and he just sent us to another room. The first bed I checked in that room had a dead beg bug right there on the bed frame (the obviously hadn't done a thorough cleaning in a while). So we asked for a refund, garbage bags for our stuff, and we got the hell out of there and stayed at a motel a couple blocks over. Hopefully they've cleaned up their act since.

The owner/manager person was very friendly, despite the fact that we had to wake him up in in the middle of the night to check-in. The rooms are modest, a bit dated, but clean (the shower looked like it could've used a good scrub though). Also, breakfast was included and even though it it was a pretty modest breakfast, it was better than having to go out and find something to eat when you want to get going in the morning.

The first off-putting thing we encountered was the sign saying "NO BOARDS/SKIS IN THE ROOMS" or a $250 fine would be assessed to our credit card. I mean, I get that maybe some careless kooks may have caused damage to rooms in the past, but most people can manage having boards/skis in their room without issue. After all, one goes there in the winter to ski or ride. It is not convenient to pack/unpack your snowboard/ski bags without it actually inside the room, especially if it's snowing. The other issue was the hot tub. It was not hot. Warm maybe, but not hot. This was due to the cover being a 1-2" cheap piece of foam versus a proper hot tub cover. Overall, the hot tub area just wasn't very inviting. The beds were pretty uncomfortable (hard) and we joked the pillows were plastic pillows b/c they had this lame plastic covering on them and then a pillow case on top, as if one would trying to protect a bed from a child peeing on it. We couldn't have paid extra for the kitchenette if knew we couldn't use it. The cookware was useless unless we wanted to whip ourselves up a cancer omelette in the morning. The Tephlon on all the pots/pans were chipping profusely. Not safe. As a result, we could not use the stove. Just the microwave and fridge, which the cheaper non-kitchenette units also had available. Also the only sink in the room was the sink in the kitchen. It's time for the kitchenettes to be updated. Positive things: Close to Red Mountain (5-10 min drive), decent shower pressure, rooms were clean enough, heaters worked well, friendly staff (as long as the owner didn't discover us sneaking our board bags inside so we could pack/unpack our stuff).
