If you are looking for a professional dance school, this is not it. If you are looking for a place…read moreto take your kids to stand around and get yelled at by a 60 year old space cadet, then this is the place for you. If you want your kid to watch a bunch of other little kids get spanked, yanked and screamed at by parents, this is it too. While I do think the teacher was a dancer at some point, her ability to teach anyone under the age of 13 is not there. She cannot stay ok task for anything and that isnt good for little kids. Five months of weekly practices and none of the kids (under 10) could remember their recital. 5 months!!!!! The issue with payments is still on going. Every negative comment on here was clearly from a parent who had a child in the school and wasnt related to her. Find somewhere else. Anywhere else!!

Miss Laurie genuinely cares about all of her students and she makes sure that she gives everyone her individual attention and criticism (if needed). That is a quality that most businesses lack. The business is very family-oriented and the students in her classes end up being like family. My family has always loved going to both the dance lessons and swim lessons. This place is AMAZING and if you don't believe me, check out the Facebook page and do your own research. There's plenty of resources other than people that are clearly angry and have nothing better to do with their time than to complain about a good business and try to ruin it. Good Grief. This is our third year at Dance Academy of Mansfield and we love it! My daughter started when she…read morewas two and was very shy and attached to me (that's why I wanted to try dance out just to see how she would do with other kiddos and a teacher that wasn't mom). The first day of class she walked right in and didn't even miss me. I was shocked because she would not stay with anyone besides mom, dad or grandma. She had a blast, the teacher was very kind and welcoming. She has loved all of the teachers she has had throughout the years. They are very professional at dance academy of Mansfield, but also are kind and understanding to the girls as well as the parents. I like that they incorporate different muscle groups in their practices as they do core, balance and stretching as well as dancing. I have notice improvements in my daughters feet and core strength. She has always had flat feet and has had some trouble with balance/coordination and I have noticed since starting dance that has improved. Lastly the production they have at the end of the year is amazing. So cool to watch as a parent. I love that DAOM is not ashamed of their faith and to talk about the Lord and pray; and for that reason is why I drive from Waxahachie to come here. My daughter loves it. I also like that they have classes during the day so homeschool parents can take their kids as well.

This was our first year at the DAOM and will be our last. Our daughter was in the pre-k group. The…read morestaff was nice and she had a lot of fun while there. The instructor seemed in control of the classroom from what I saw on the two observation days. However, restrictive policies make this a bad choice for parents. Classes for that age group are an hour long and go from September until June. If you believe your four-year-old might become disinterested after nine months of dance, please consider this factor heavily. If your child misses more than five classes in that time, she will not be allowed to dance in the production. You will not be refunded the $180 in production fees. This year, the academy followed the MISD schedule. This means that for those of us that signed up for a Monday class, we were scheduled to receive 5 less classes than those signed up on other days of the week and there was no cost offset. With the multiple bad weather days, we were actually out of class 8 days and got one makeup class on exception (as the policy is that academy does not schedule any makeups and your child may not attend a different class). I suppose I bear some of the blame in this instance since I simply assumed there would be an opportunity for make-up classes and did not actually ask. I emailed the director regarding my dissatisfaction with this issue. We were told they would not follow that schedule next year, but no price offset was offered for this year. They also follow the MISD schedule for bad weather regardless of current conditions. For example, when MISD cancelled school at 6am due to possible ice then at 10am the roads were melted and completely clear, the evening class was still cancelled. Your production fees do not include tights for the costumes. They do not include alterations, those will come out of your pocket or the pocket of your stage mom. If your child has ripped tights or the wrong tights, she will not be allowed to dance in the production. If your child has too many absences, she will not be allowed to dance in the production. If your child will not be still long enough for you to put on red lipstick, mascara, eyeshadow, foundation, and blush, she will not be allowed to dance in the production. Yes, even your three year old. There are no exceptions to refund the production fees per the policy. My daughter doesn't know, nor would she care, about all the restrictive policies of this studio. She was raped lol just kidding had the stamina to go 9 months with little complaint. She got to do worship dance and talk about God while doing tap. But, for me, there was just too much in the way of bad policy for me to enjoy taking her here.

My son has ADHD and they not only embraced him, but develped his technique and he thrived! My daughter is very young and only did the recreation program, but all of the teachers (especially Tammy and cooper) were absolutely amazing! Because of DI both of my kids are way above their age level in all genres from just one year of dancing there. The staff is extremely professional, and the owner is just so on top of everything at the studio. The best part of the studio is that none of the teachers or staff (Including the owner) get involved with ANY of the drama at the studio. They place the kids where they will do the best in technique and maturity wise. The only reason why we left is because we moved out of state, however we are going back every year for some of the conventions they participate in so we have the chance to dance with them. They care about molding your dancer into a professional dancer, not just a competitive dancer who stops dancing at 18 when they age out of competitions. They work with the seniors in getting them into the right collages and help them earn scholarships to pay for tuition. The owner and staff are well connected as well to get your foot in the door if you want to go more towards the entertainment industry. The ballet program is top notch with dancers that get into the most prestigious dance schools. (They have placed at least 3 dancers at Juilliard last year). They also have great adult ballet, tap, and hop hop classes that are so much fun! If you have the opportunity to go to DI do it! It was the best decision for our whole family made in dance we have ever made.
