I sashayed down to the dock and watched boats come in and out while I waited for my friends. They have a bunch of rentals, and many people use their own boats. The water is surprisingly clean and clear. I sat in the sunshine, my feet in the water, playing with people's dogs, and yelling, "A'hoy!" It was pretty damn awesome. When my friends showed up, we loaded up onto the boat and made our way out. It was such a beautiful day. Perfect sailing weather. After about 5 hours we made our way back, and the staff helped us dock. Those guys are super cool. All the staff we encountered were totally laid back and friendly. If you need a mini vay-cay, and to de-stress, head down here. I found chi, zen, peace, all of it! Score!

You'll find them under a canopy by their launch area. The staff were friendly, and we were able to get same day rentals. We came on a Saturday morning around 10:30am, and it was a breeze. I do appreciate that they care about your safety. I originally wanted to try SUP, but the team recommended kayaking since the winds were really strong for first time SUP. Prices here were pretty good. We did a 1-hr rental each. There are bathrooms right in front of the rental area, and they have storage bags for you to store clothes, keys, etc. Kayaks were good quality, and life jackets felt secure.

It's ridiculous to work in a marine shop and have absolutely zero clue about anything in the store. It's not hard to walk up and down the aisles and know what you carry or maybe spend 60 seconds to try and figure out someone's question. The entire staff at this location is a joke and should be fired.

My friends and I booked a whale watching tour last week because we heard that orcas had recently…read morebeen spotted on Newport Coast, which is so rare this point we knew it was a longshot, but we knew we would still have a great time even if we didn't see any orcas. The company did a great job of emailing us all of the information days before our tour and there was ample parking. We ended up parking across the street with no issues at all. We walked over to Balboa and checked in at David's locker and lined up and boarded the boat. There was plenty of seating and the boat wasn't completely full. We opted to stand most of the tour but there were plenty of spots to sit. There were bathrooms on board that were very clean. We liked that they had a full bar, with very friendly bartenders, and they also had chips and other snacks for sale. We didn't see any animals for the first hour or so of the tour, but then we went further out and saw hundreds of dolphins! It was the coolest thing I've ever seen! They swam with the boat and our tour guides were so amazing that they let us stay out almost another full hour just to enjoy the experience with the dolphins. No orcas were spotted but we were ok with that! The staff was very nice, helpful, and had great personality and attitude. I would definitely book this to her again because everyone was so friendly and nice and we had such a great time even though it was really hot. We didn't really feel that uncomfortable because of the ocean breeze and I can't wait to go back for the Christmas light tour and for another whale watching tour soon!

Absolutely amazing on how they upgraded all the surrounding areas…read more Lots of new parking with a new multilevel parking structure and new bathrooms and showers for the boaters that have a permit for boat parking to launch their Crafts from Dana Point harbor. Automatically given 4 hours of free parking with quick access to any of the numerous restaurants and gift shops right on the water. This is the spot if you want to go offshore fishing on a charter or whale watching which I did on a couple hour tour it was outstanding. Not to mention all the whales dolphins and other mammals that were seen offshore. Tuesdays they still do half off. If you have not been give it a try it's so much better now with the easy access and plenty of free 4 hour parking. Don't overlook the stunning safe day beaches without the big Surf issues
