When I landed in Sydney, I had a ton of Australian beer on my flight. One of perks of my flight. I had lots of Victoria Bitter and Pure Blonde. I knew my Australian males of the family love to drink. So, I had to buy some Fireball Whiskey and introduce them to what I drink in the states. One of my aunties took me to a place that resembled United States' BevMo. It was called, Dan Murphy's in Hoxton Park, New South Wales, Australia.
Located at the north portion of the Carnes Hill Shopping Center, you'll find the classy Dan Murphy's. In my opinion, this was a very fancy spirits, wine, and liquor store. My auntie wanted to get some Victoria Bitter for her husband and I wanted to buy Fireball Whiskey. She told me to go get trolley. Hmm, I didn't see a bus around. Oh, she meant a shopping cart. Yeah, I need to start learning the Australian slang. The store layout is very clean and just as cool as BevMo. I wasn't sure if Fireball Whiskey made it out to Australia, but I had asked one of Dan Murphy's employees where the whiskeys were located.
I finally found the precious, Fireball Whiskey. The bottle label looked the same in the states. However, the price wasn't...Eeks! A 700ml bottle of Fireball was $51.99 AUD including tax. I am used to paying less than $20 USD. Wow! I was paying 2.5 times for the same bottle. However, it was going to be worth it. When I was paying for the Fireball, the cute girl at the counter knew that I was coming a long way for a Fireball drink. How she knew, I was already confused on how to pay. Make sure you sign the back of your debit/credit card. That's how they verify the signature on the store receipt.
I am happy to say that my uncles loved Fireball and one of my uncles finished it before I did. My gift came with great results. Dan Murphy's is one store to stop by and check out. Perhaps my review of Fireball will become popular and my next visit to Australia will have the price drop dramatically. I hope my Aussie friends will buy more of it and take a shot in my honor.
