Every visit has been informative, inclusive, and fun. Neva and all of the staff are knowledgeable, helpful, and eager to introduce you to the world of saddlebred horses. She's attended the day camps in the past and is now a camp counselor. Those camps allowed her to gain an understanding of the care and keeping or a horse, the responsibility that goes with it and so much additional one on one with the horses that the lessons just don't have time for. It's also fun to hear her talk about what they do for fun like horse weddings or scavenger hunts, getting the minis out with the carts.. The guy that is there every day is completely incoherent when it comes to making sure the horses get fed properly he also does not know how to put a blanket on multiple times I've caught my horse tangled in his own blanket because this guy didn't put it on correctly. My horse thrived when we were there. Adam was incredibly responsive to his well being. This is a hunter/jumper barn with a great lesson program. Private lessons are offered for all skill levels - beginner (never been on a horse) to advanced. They have ponies for small riders and beginner-safe horses. You don't need to have any of your own equipment, as everything is provided. Currently, I'm leasing a 16.3hh thoroughbred. I love him! This is just one of the many opportunities here for advancing your riding skills. I've been riding for 13 years now, and still have much more to work on. Pam is really great about finding local clinics to go to or even just for fun horse-related events in the area. In the past year, I've done the Racine Pony Club Hunter Pace and a Brad Hall clinic. We also go to the IronWorks schooling shows regularly. Meinpferde Farm is super laid back, which I love. Even though the trainers are primarily focus on hunter/jumper training, they welcome boarders of all disciplines. It's a very welcoming place. There's also a large hunt field in the back, where sometimes we ride. There are jumps set up there too, so it's super fun! In addition to lessons and boarding, they have a breeding program. These baby goats do not kid around when it comes to drinking their milk and the bottle will be gobbled up in a flash. You can also feed chickens and they have a model cow you can pretend practice milking. Plan to spend at least two hours here. Right now they have a gorgeous lavender field filled with bees. There was plenty of parking out front when I arrived on Monday probably around 10 AM/10:30 AM. There was a small cashier station out front. A lady was short brown hair was explaining how the process works and that you would buy a choice of two different size bags. I chose a smaller bag for $22. I was shown the map and I took a picture of it and headed out to the Orchards. Everything is clearly marked and the paths are also well marked however, if you have any mobility challenges, this might be an issue for you. I don't know if there's any tractors that travel out there. There are wagons for younger kids, etc. I went all the way out past the final orchard to the Honeycrisp. I was surprised to see quite a bit of apple still on the tree. Please follow the directions on how to pick them because you do not want to damage the trees. I got a bunch of varieties which all tasted delicious. I then walked through the little store behind the initial cash register. They have already pre-picked apples, frozen cider donuts, and fresh cider for sale. On the day I arrived. They were already sold out of the fresh cider donuts and they were on their way, but I was already departing the location. Before I left, however, I opted to do the you pick raspberries and cherry tomatoes, which was fun although a bit arduous for the raspberries. Everything actually tasted delicious. I would definitely come back for other activities and of course, supporting local farm. I think this is really good for all ages, etc.. I did see a mix of families and young adults on this visit. Be advised of the closing times I believe it closed at 1 PM on Monday. It was just a fun experience.

Anyway, Dr. Howard Ketover and the Irongate vets/crew are THE BEST. Period. You love your horse(s), you get the best to tend to them - IRONGATE. (I swear Im not related to any of them. Not getting kickback or any other nefarious doings.) I learn more every time they visit. Dr. Ketover is just TOPS. I know the rest of the Irongate staff is, as well, from experience as well as Dr. Ketover would not have anyone, less than professional and genuine, a part of the Irongate family. He was a pretty sick boy, high temp, and listless. Tick issue, he was infused, & treated for his fever. He bounced back fast, tho' still on his meds. He veers between being thinking he's a rodeo star or a racehorse. I cannot emphasize enough my trust & confidence in Irongate Equine!
