The one you see today is not the original placement from the 14th century. It was rebuilt on top of a new base using parts from the original structure in 1885. The emblems and unicorn topper have been restored and painted over the years. It's still a historic monument with lots of stories to tell. There's a doorway into a chamber with a stairway that leads to the platform. This is where the Lord Lyon King of Arms makes official announcements. The most recent one was to announce the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the accession of King Charles III. There's a BBC video online that documents the royal proclamation. It's one of many sights that can be seen in and around Old Town. It was a brutal way of life back in medieval times. There are many walking tours that give more incite into the good and not so good events that happened here. It's a must visit no matter how you choose to explore it.

The historic landmark stands outside St Giles' Cathedral, at the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Mercat crosses ('Market', in Scots) were built in towns and villages originally as sites for regular markets where merchants could trade. They also acted as a place where people would gather to hear important public announcements, such as royal and parliamentary proclamations, a practice that continues to this day. Today, the Mercat Cross in Edinburgh is still used to announce the calling of a general election, along with notable royal proclamations.

There is old stone masonry and while some may think it has a creepy vibe I find it quite peaceful. It rains a lot in Scotland and there is a crazy amount of green, despite the rain it seems to be well maintained with nothing too overgrown. Some interesting things to call out: -There is the only Civil War monument outside of the Us here, it's dedicated to the Scottish soldiers that died during WW2 and there is a giant statue of Abraham Lincoln on top. -There is a giant obelisk dedicated to political martyrs who championed reform during the French Revolution. It's right at the beginning of the graveyard and easy to see from long distances away. -Toward the back the walls are low and the graveyard is surrounded by modern apartments and condos. It's a nice place for photography and feels a bit surreal. -Carved tombstones and crypts have great stonework though some have fallen apart or been vandalized over time. There are a lot of skulls and I think the meaning is more "memento mori" than something dark.

So, it's a tunnel…read more But, it's a pretty cool tunnel. The first time I came across it I had two thoughts: - Just how had I missed it before. - How unique it is; so wide, so tall, so long. I wish the tunnel had far more artwork but unfortunately this only extends to one really awesome creation. - The rest is just graffiti scrawls. I love cycling through here, and catching sight of the little hidden work of art within the city never fails to make me smile. Bonus Yelp points: the tunnel is lit at night.

The statue is shown holding his 'colour top', a spinning disc with coloured paper which was used to learn more about the physiology of colour vision. His work led to the world's first colour photograph in 1861. The sculptor Alexander Stoddart (born Edinburgh, 1959) has been Her Majesty's Sculptor since 2008. He is mainly known for his large civic works including the philosophers David Hume and Adam Smith (also found in Edinburgh).

Dean cemetery is in a beautiful location near Dean village but is a bit of a hike uphill. This is…read morea huge cemetery with lots of influential, important, interesting people like Elsie ingles, John Bellamy, Henry Cockburn, Agnes Henderson Brown, people involved with Queen Victoria, people involved with William Burke are all buried here and many more. It is worth doing a bit of research beforehand to find out exactly who is buried here and seeking them out. I wish there was a map or something as a guide, I visited at least 5 times, in search of specific memorials and still haven't found them all but there are beautiful interesting monuments but it's the ones that don't necessarily stand out that are worth seeking. There are no toilets that I could see in or around Dean cemetery so I was always on a mad dash to Princess street to find a loo, sometimes having to cut my visit short which was frustrating. But if your into historical graveyards, this is a must see.

I thought it would better & easier to just have this thing printed right there in Scotland. I made the right choice. Mr. Jon Huffer was there every step of the way to answer all my questions, especially about the differences in European paper sizes! :-O He even managed to answer a question I had when he wasn't even in the office! Class act all the way! My project turned out fantastic and it was it big hit! With that said, this is the place to take your stuff for printing!
