This hotel has a good location. I was here for a professional convention and it was a decent walking distance to many venues in the Art District (Meyerson Concert Hall, Winspear Opera House, First United Methodist Church, etc.). There are also some decent restaurants, fast food places, CVS, etc. nearby. There is also a DART station right around the corner, a 2 minute walk or less from the hotel front door. DART makes it easy and cheap to get around without a car. Only $6 for an all day pass. The hotel itself is very comfortable. Everything is well kept, nothing is run down. This is a higher end hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. My room, a single king, was great. It had plenty of room, a couch, a 55" TV, desk, roomy closet, nice bathroom. It has a fridge but no in-room microwave. There is one down by the front desk available 24/7. There is a hair dryer and hair shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers in the shower. it has nice cubby spaces in the lobby to gather as friends. Very nice. I would stay here again. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. This wasn't my first choice to stay but I decided on it based on the location and proximity to my training destination. Fortunately it connects to the Arts District atrium area and the adjacent building where my training was held so getting to my destination was easy and stress-free. As for the room, it was spacious, clean, and had frequent house-keeping. The Centric Bar/Grill is located within the hotel but you're better off going somewhere else to get your eats/drinks due to the price. The staff at the front desk was pleasant and got me checked in with no troubles. Valet parking is around $50 per day or you can park in the garage next door at a lesser price. The workout facility is pretty efficient with plenty of machines and weights to get your exercise high on. The atrium area has a food court and some business spaces including a pharmacy, jewelry, and barbershop but all close in the early to late afternoon so keep that in mind. I wouldn't mind staying here again. It's likely I will considering how close it is to my agency's workspace. But no complaints here. read more

When I first entered this hotel I was kindly greeted by Patricia who was very sweet. I asked if I could be put into a city view room and she made that possible. When I entered my room one of the first things I noticed was a pair of eyelashes that were on the connecting room doorknob. I was disgusted and perplexed as to how housekeeping missed this because it wasn't hard to notice. I called the front desk and initially told Jason about it who gave me an attitude so I asked for a manager. Tanya offered a me a suite, points and a voucher to the restaurant. I asked if there were any suites on the level I was currently on or higher. She put me on hold to check but there were only suites on the 5th and 6th floor so I asked to just be put in another city view room on my level. She told me someone would be up to put me in my new room. I gathered my stuff and waited outside of my new room for quite some time so I called front desk to ask when someone would be up to put me in my new room because I've been waiting awhile. They told me wait a few minutes and someone would be up. Jason comes to put me in a new room but guess what it was to a room not facing the city so at this point I'm upset because what is going on. I told Jason I was supposed to be in a city view room, he told me to just come downstairs. I go back to the front desk and I told Tanya at this point just put me in a suite because this is just too much. All of a sudden there are no suites available so she said I can talk to her manager Don about it. Don and I had a debate about the issue but in the end he put me in a suite and gave me access to the M club on the 16th floor. I was satisfied but when I went into my new room and used the bathroom it was extremely loud afterwards for a lengthy duration so I called front desk to send the engineer to check the toilet. The engineer came in and turned the water pressure down so it wouldn't be as loud and I asked him if there was something wrong with the toilet he said no all toilets make noise. Well all toilets clearly don't make loud noises like that otherwise I wouldn't have called about it! The toilet wasn't as bad as before so I figured I could survive the rest of my stay. Well the next day I use the bathroom and it starts making this clicking noise and doesn't stop. At this point I'm bewildered because why is this even happening. When I was heading out for the day I stopped by front desk and was greeted by Dakota who was just so wonderful and accommodating. He acknowledged that he valued me and put me in another suite and was going to have another engineer check out the toilet. I asked if it was possible to be put in a better suite because at this point there were far too many issues that I've been dealing with. He said he could check and asked his manager David Range to come over. Now David came and just blew things out of proportion. He was so rude and mean! He refused to listen to me and kept cutting me off every time I spoke. He said he wouldn't change my room since I've been moved 4 times and threatened to check me out the hotel. He claimed I was causing problems and I told him it's not my fault the rooms had issues! He was so awful to me so I recorded him so people can hear how bad his customer service is! He called security on me and it was Jeremiah who came down and actually listened to what was going on and assured I wouldn't be kicked out. Dakota sent a engineer up to my room and I left for the day hoping the toilet would be fixed. When I came back later that evening I updated Marcel at the front desk about this situation who was so nice and said if the toilet was still messed up he'd accommodate me. Luckily it wasn't so I was able to stay in my room. Overall because of my uncomfortable experience with David I would never stay here again. Between that and witnessing a cook make food with no gloves while touching his phone this place just isn't worth it. It's sad because I really liked most of the staff here. read more

Older Marriott property. Rooms could use some upgrading and modernization. Looks like this is the hub for flight crews coming in for an overnight stay -- saw tons of flight attendants and pilots checking in and out during my stay. There is a restaurant and bar located on the lobby of the first floor but I didn't get a chance to try anything because it was always too busy. Front desk staff were a hit or miss. At check in, the gal wasn't very hospitable but as I requested for things throughout the week -- other Guest Service Representatives were more pleasant. Valet team were glued to their phones. Not very much oversight for professionalism there. Didn't see security patrolling the property after 9pm but then again -- the elevators require a key card to head upstairs to guest rooms. Probably wouldn't be my first choice for a Marriott property the next time I'm in Dallas. read more

We stayed here for one night as a local-get-out-of-the-house-vacation. I had never stayed here before and frankly I don't even remember seeing it although it is right there, prominently located on Pearl St., not far from the Farmer's Market, Arts District, and KWP. The location cannot be beat, it is a few minutes walk to the park, restaurants, the Arts District, and so much more. I was hesitant to give it 5 stars because that is what I gave to JW Marriott which is just a few streets away. JW is pure luxury and this Downtown Marriott is not really luxury, but it is a very nice hotel. In the end, I decided to give it 5 stars because there was absolutely nothing wrong with our stay. Check in was easy. The receptionist accommodated my request to be away from the elevator and on the Plaza side, not the street side. I don't know for sure but I can imagine that the street side could be noisy at night. Our room was clean and nicely laid out. The shower was gorgeous and had a very cool shower head with great water pressure. The beds were, as usual at Marriott, very soft and comfortable. We had a queen and king and you sort of melt into them. Loved the soft pillows. The carpet was in good shape. We did not have much of a view but the room was super quiet. Overall, it met the standards that we have come to expect from Marriott. One unique feature that I never saw before was the elevator to your room. You scan your room key to a reader then enter the floor into a keypad, which then tells you which elevator will be yours. The system works well in general but can be get congested when there are a lot of people at once. Valet was efficient. They took my car immediately when we arrived and had it ready when I checked out. It is a bit pricey at $50 for overnight. There is cheaper self-parking nearby but I did not want to walk and was not sure how safe the area was. When doing the local vacation downtown thing, we usually like to stay at JW Marriott, but this Marriott hotel was very nice and a lot cheaper than JW. Don't stay here if you're a Marriott Bonvoy member. I bought 2 rooms here for a conference we're hosting at the hotel. I asked to upgrade or switch to a King room, and they would not accommodate the request even though they have several Kings available. The ladies at the desk were useless. They never asked for my Bonvoy number, never asked my name or what room I was in. They gave me a canned response that they're "oversold" even though there's plenty of rooms available online. While in Dallas for a recent work event, I stayed at the Dallas Marriott Downtown as it is connected to the Chase Tower which made my daily commute very convenient. The hotel is attached to the older Plaza of the Americas as well which is nice if you need access to a food court during your lunch hour. The hotel itself is updated and nice and also has a good bar/restaurant with in it. If you are a bonvoy member with a higher level of status, they also have an excellent executive lounge which offers breakfast, evening appetizers and desserts at no charge - and the food options are pretty good. The gym is unfortunately not the best and has limited options. The staff is also very nice and happy to help with anything I needed. I would definitely stay here again when in Dallas for work but would make sure to have an alternative option for working out. read more

Stayed here while in Dallas for a wedding, nice hotel in good area close to many attractions. My room was nice and spacious and I opted go get a king room with a balcony and I highly recommend the king room with a balcony because they are in the interior of the hotel. With the hotel being connected to a business center and office spaces there is a food court atrium. Not many food places and the ones that are there were average. The restaurant inside the hotel was good for breakfast but dinner time was really busy and the drinks were expensive. There is valet parking at the hotel but there is also a parking lot across the street for half the price. I would stay here again just because the room was so nice. read more

this hotel is ok, service is slow, bartender completely uninterested and rude but that's kind of what you get on the road these days. valet does a good job but very expensive and their "self" park rates are very deceptive due to the time it renews. I travel for a living so I'm used to marginal service and being overcharged and usually just let it go. my main issue is I spent over $1000 to stay here last weekend and they did not bill/code my room correctly. I've called 3 times to try to rectify but have been placed on hold for over 45 minutes each time and I just give up...... which is exactly what the front desk wants. I called twice when in the room as well and couldn't even get anyone to pick up. if you can't staff your front desk to be able to take a phone call, or more appropriately training them not to hope people just go away, then you have no business managing a hotel. Do better! I just tried for the last time to rectify 10/9, 7:15 pm but I officially give up. perhaps someone should research who was working this night and actually talk to them about doing their job worth a sh*t but I'm confident that won't happen either. for the rate I paid, there is much better service in the metro and I will say this one more time to those who "work' (I use that term lightly) at this hotel..... I had a room overlooking the business atrium. You cannot tell day from night. Although very quiet, if I open my blinds I can look into a conference room and office and they can see straight into my room. The hotel room is spacious and clean. There was a maintenance issue with my toilet. I could hear it running in the hallway before I opened the door. It took maintenance approximately twenty minutes to repair before I could get settled in my room. The drain seems to be plugged in the bathroom sink. Arrived late due to a delayed flight and then had to deal with a prolonged check-in process in the middle of the night. Part of my room was updated and part not so much. Also my room had a loud A/C and really annoying loud plumbing especially noticeable in the night. Lastly, there was no drinking water in the room, and no vending machine on the 5th floor either, making me go to the front desk and pay $4.50 for a bottle of water. Stayed here for a friend's wedding nearby. I accidentally reserved the wrong date and couldn't check in the day of which put me in a hard spot. Lucky the front desk (Matthew) helped me out and worked his magic and helped me with my reservation to check in! Hotel was fantastic but the restaurant was lacking. I went in for lunch and ordered a latte and poke bowl. The latte was fantastic but I sat around waiting for my bowl for thirty minutes. I finally had to ask someone where it was and they said they lost the ticket. I ended up cancelling because I didn't have more time to wait. The lady assisting me did not offer to comp my drink, which is not necessarily an expectation but general practice given the circumstances. Paid and tipped and came back the next day to give it another shot. I came back ordered the same thing and had several things wrong: 1. The lady brought me a salad thinking it was a poke bowl ran off and she had to ask if a poke bowl had fish in it before getting me the right order. 2. The salad she brought out by mistake had a hair in it. 3. The poke bowl was seemingly good but gave me a really mild food poisoning. Waitress was great the second day but overall not great. I loved everything about this hotel. The lobby area is very large and I was greeted from the moment I walked in and throughout my stay. The check in process was seamless as usual especially since I was able to mobile check in and the person at the front desk was so friendly and helpful. Although there are instructions by the elevator, I was confused at first, but figured it out pretty quickly that all you needed to do was swipe your hotel key card, then enter your floor number on the keypad and it told you what elevator (A-D) to go to get to your floor. Good security measure for the hotel rooms. The rooms are very clean, modern and spacious. Had lots of outlets and USB outlets which is much needed for all my electronics. Room has large flat screen TV with Netflix streaming. Bed was super comfy. Room has a refrigerator, nice sized desk area, lots of lighting in the room and bathroom. Also having a full sized mirror is always a plus. Bar and restaurant area had lots of seating. Attached to the hotel are several stores and restaurants so even if you didn't want to technically leave the hotel you didn't have to. If you want to venture out there are tons of restaurants and bars within walking distance and if you want to be a little adventurous or just want to get there quicker without driving there are scooters everywhere. There is a charge for valet but not a surprise since it's Downtown Dallas. read more

I'm not saying it's bad - but the walls were thin, restaurant food connected to the hotel came out cold. This is a very clean hotel... it is comfortable and the security to the rooms via the elevators is great. I had minimal contact with front desk... Any time I needed more towels, coffee, creamer or other needs, I placed a call and within 20 minutes they were knocking on my door. The restaurant downstairs was very accommodating and the food was clean and delicious. Room service the next morning was acceptable as well... just don't expect a rolling cart like the old days... it now comes to your door packaged up as a to go order in a bag.. which was I guess the new covid way of life now. Two things and I deducted 1/2 star for each.. 1) no distilled water for my Cpap machine at the hotel store 2) no valet service... had to go around the Bldg and park in the garage that was directly connected to the hotel... Careful if you're not the preferred race to eat at Centric. Weirdest story ever, but had to share. Re: Centric at the Dallas Marriott Downtown. First of all, the service is terrible. We waited over an hour to order a round of drinks after we finished our dinner. Second, I ordered wine, and it was served to me in a stemless wine glass. I was the only one who received a stemless wine glass as I looked around the room and noticed something different. Cool. Ok. Whatever. Enjoyed wine anyway. All other "nonethnic" people had proper wine glasses with stems. Interesting observation. Something I wasn't even aware of until it was pointed out to me by another customer there. Paid bill and left, but everything else was closed, so friends and I eventually came back to Centric. I ordered one more wine to end the night, and was given a stemless wine glass AGAIN, opposed to everyone else (that didn't look like me), that had glasses with stems. I don't know man. It seemed a little too odd that I just happened to be the ONLY person they wouldn't give a proper glass to in a location that was 90% full of people that night. These small things are noticed, and if you are of any ethnic background, heads up...you'll get shafted at this place if you don't "fit" their preferred customer profile. Im not a fan of any victim mentality at all, and I fully expect the restaurant to say, "sorry YOU felt that way", in the common passive aggressive manner that seems to be the norm these days, so I have absolutely no expectations, and hope that this may just help someone else that's not quite the demographic choose somewhere else to go for better service, better food, and a better experience. Came here after working a long day and they refused to let me in because I didn't bring my company ID. I'm platinum and have been staying at hotels this whole year with the code and I've never been asked once for an ID. I've seen other hotels mention they will want to see an ID which is when I will bring it. This mentioned nothing, I double checked when booking, and they told me the rate would be $100 more expensive per night. Ridiculous. Literally strong arming you and giving you no options when it's 7PM and everything else is booked. Terrible management. read more

Two nights here on points, I have Platinum Preferred Elite status (the special status above regular Platinum) and so I was pleased to be upgraded to a Junior King Suite at the end of the hallway for my stay. A very large room with lots of space, a big comfy bed and a large dual vanity bathroom that had a very nice walk-in shower. Really, an excellent room with no issues at all. Fortunately, there was no one on the other side of the connecting door so I had very little hallway or neighbor noise. Well located in downtown near the Arts District and right next to the Pearl Street station, so easy access to everything I needed to access. I didn't rent a car for this weekend visit, so I can't tell you about their exorbitant parking rates or how quick the valet retrieval time is, but they were very helpful with my Uber and super polite while I waited. I didn't visit the bar or the restaurant or the fitness center. I left the DND on the door overnight. The wifi worked well and the coffee machine was great. All in all, a good stay and I would stay here again. read more

From the moment I stepped foot on this property, I was very impressed. I only stay at Marriott properties so I've definitely seen my share of nice hotels. Located in the middle of the city/center in Dallas, the Marriott provides a perfectly located, beautiful property. The hotel itself is very large and also connected to I a shopping and food plaza. Upon check-in, Samuel McDonald helped me and was so courteous and kind. He recognized my platinum status and thanked me immediately. He explained the property and amenities perfectly and also gave me a little bit of history behind the location as well. He offered many suggestions on what to do in the area and where to go. I also had a colleague joining me so he helped check him in ahead of time for me so I wouldn't have to come back down with my credit card. There was a huge tech convention in the area at the same time so the price was way more expensive than usual. However, the place itself was so nice. It has a restaurant and a bar downstairs as well as it is adjacent to many restaurants in the food plaza. Also they have the second largest (Marriott) concierge lounge in the US that serves breakfast in the morning and hors d'oeuvres and dessert at night. They have a decent sized fitness center, too. My favorite part about this stay was my room. They upgraded me to a corner king suite and it was huge. I don't think I've ever had that much room in a hotel. It was the size of three apartments in one! Overall, if ever in the Dallas area again I would definitely want to stay here. I recommend this place but I would also recommend booking your hotel room way ah of time because the prices can be extremely high. read more

Follow up: Valet parking sent us email this morning- conveniently a few hours posting this review. See photo #2 for their response I reluctantly stayed here for two days while my apartment was undergoing construction. The first night we paid $20 per vehicle to park in the parking garage attached to the building but nothing associated with Marriot. The second night we valet parked both vehicles. One vehicle was unknowingly parked across the street in the parking lot for the townhouse club. Being it a Friday night, and events were going on the truck got broken into. We were not aware when we left the keys with valet that they would be taking it off the lot. They gave us the keys and let us figure out how to handle it at 3am. We made a police report notified management and the valet company and paid for new windows the next day. No one from either company had reached out to resolve the issues. We checked out the next day and went to another property, this hotel is in NOT in a good area, right around the corner of the building is a major bus station, lots of foot traffic, people walking around drunk and and drugs from the streets and the club. It has been 5 days since the event ( 3 business days) And still no word from any management According to the police there has been reports weekly from cars parked at this hotel of this same event. The hotel was decent, but the parking is definitely an issue, we're still not sure why a multiple 5+ story parking garage wasn't utilized for both vehicles. It's comfortable but, while the housekeeping staff does their duties they open and close the room doors, slamming and if you are in a room near, it rattles your door and makes it very very difficult to get any rest. It's a shame because they are doing their job; maybe their management can let them know to be more aware of their noise level. read more

I really like this hotel. The elevator is really cool, when you press the button, it will tell you which one it is. So instead looking around like an idiot, you know exactly the right elevator. Second, if you are a gold or platinum member, you will get free breakfast and dinner on the 16th floor. The food is not the best but it's got a lot snacks and soda. There is also a bar where you can order alcoholic drinks. I got the Texas Tea. At the far end of the floor there is a game room where you can play card or board games with friends. On Trip Advisor this hotel is a 5 star; on Yelp I'm including the bar and room service. Check in and check out personnel are very friendly and accommodating. USE THE APP to check in! I received early check in and a room upgrade for using the app. I also rec'd extra Marriott points for not having room service every day as a conservation effort. My room with an atrium view was relaxing. My breakfast room service order arrived with a confusion on the instructions I had written. They offered to remake the entire order, which I told them wasn't necessary, and they promptly sent up the bagel I requested - actually 2 as an "oops bonus." Valet parking is expensive - $29/day - and considering my cohorts arriving and departing, not staying at the hotel, paid $19/day and my car sat in the garage for 2 days...needs to be reassessed. The bar - Centric Bar & Grille - was fine. The wines were the usual 3x the markup you would find at the liquor store. My chips & fresh made guac were less than stellar. Chips were stale as if they had been made in the morning and sat all day and guac had a "twang." Needless to say I did not finish guac for fear of the next morning's "revenge of the guac." To summarize, love the hotel, see if you can park somewhere less expensive and eat outside the hotel. read more

Pros: 1. Location. If your office is next door like mine, then you can't beat the convenience. 2. Covered access to surrounding amenities: You can access the nearby restaurants without getting wet by using the various bridges and walkways. 3. The gold lounge is nice with a great view and there is a good variety of food and beverage. 4. I've had many stays with no issues. When I did have some issues, the hotel was responsive to make up for it. 5. The valet people manning the front doors are always friendly and eager to open the car or building doors, or help you with your bag. Cons: 1. Lyft and Uber always get confused and try to drop you at the back of the hotel at the loading dock. read more

The hotel was wholesome and adequate. The staff was ok, not friendly and weren't going to go out of their way to help you. No pool, lounge was closed, and the service at the bar was slow. The room was nice and clean, but the shower drain was clogged. My suite upgrade got denied even though they told me they had vacancies. It's an ok hotel, but probably will look at other locations next trip downtown. read more

Bad all around. - Poor location, ¾ of a mile or more away from any restaurant. Had to Uber everywhere. - Dirty bathroom - Slow elevators (granted they had a sign apologizing due to repairs - but wow) - Same day laundry by 5PM arrived about 11PM (not good when you are out of trunks) - Valet took over 25 minutes to bring my car around upon departure - plus an attitude for daring to even ask what was taking so long. Stayed at this hotel while in Dallas for a national work meeting and I'm glad I did. Check in process was super easy and my room was very spacious and clean. I had great views of downtown Dallas! Always enjoy having a coffee maker as well as a refrigerator in the room because I often have leftovers! The bathroom was HUGE and well stocked, even included make up remover wipes! One thing I thought was weird was that the concierge lounge was closed on weekends but I did get free breakfast coupons for the downstairs restaurant instead which i thought was a good option. This hotel is connected to the Sheraton downtown as well as other buildings via skywalks which was nice to not have to cross a busy road to get to different places. read more
