The location is on Arapaho in a business office complex just past Racetrac Convenience Store if you're driving from Marsh. They take walk ins or you can make an appointment. The director said walk ins are just fine because there are always students available. You can get a haircut all the way up to 8pm which is super convenient. The staff is so professional and attentive. We arrived just after 6 and my son didn't have to wait long at all. The student did a great job and my son said he would definitely go back.

Hair Type: Type 4b/4c (RELAXED) Hair Length: Medium…read moreCondition of hair at the time of first visit: Slight chemical damage (crown of head; Moderate chemical damage (nape of neck) I've been to Neilsen's on THREE separate occasions in the past month and a half. The first two visits were for a trim and subsequently to freshen up my short-to-long layers. Backstory: I am relaxed and have been for over 30years. I also care for my own hair (occasionally going to the salon for special events, detailed cuts, etc.) so I know my way around my hair. I don't remember the name of the young lady (senior student) that trimmed my hair on my initial visit (sorry bout that). I asked her to assess the condition of my hair (regarding the chemical damage) in her expert opinion, and she answered honestly: My hair was damaged in areas, but correctable (which I knew). She did a great job. I returned a few weeks later hoping the same young lady would be there to touch up my layers but she was not. No problem, although I prefer the same person perform surgery on my hair no matter how minor. Another senior student (Sandra) was assigned to me. She too did an awesome job. She told me to come back when I was ready for my relaxer and she could apply it. I returned about a week later (with my own products) and she did a wonderful job. She was accommodating, attentive and polite and I was pleased with my final results. COSTS: Relaxer: $32 (includes roller set and dry)- My Cost: $28 ( I did not roller set nor dry) I dried and styled at home. The school has products they use, however you can bring your own products if you choose (NOTE: it doesn't save you any money) Cut: $6 (only SENIOR students are allowed to cut hair.) My advice: ALWAYS ASK FOR A SENIOR STUDENT and bring your favorite products. if you have them BE SURE TO TIP YOUR STYLIST. 8-)

She did so good and explained the products she was using in my hair. She gave me a few tips on how to manage by hair better as well! She took her time and we took some pictures afterwards and I absolutely loved it and got compliments throughout the day! Although I came in for Bree, the student in the station next to her, Dani, also greeted me which I found very pleasant! The next girl I came in to see was Zoey L for a 30 minute facial, a brow tent, and a 60 minute facial (all separate appointments). I felt so comfortable with Zoey, she's so kind and helpful. My tips to the stylist who worked with me today on what Ogle calls a "silk press" (wash, blow dry, flat iron) 1)start the process once your client is in the chair instead of just hanging out waiting for an instructor to sign a paper 2) ask your client what style before starting 3) don't simultaneously play and text on your phone when you're already pretty slow at each step. 4) speed and technique come with experience so pay attention to your client not your phone, Ogle is not high school. To the instructor at Arlington, try doing like the instructor at the Dallas locations and the location in Denton and INSTRUCT the students. Help them be successful. Good grief. I will not go back there.

Reluctantly I agreed, since my normal salon is in Austin. So I made an appointment & from the minute I walked into the salon to the time I walked out, they made me feel like a movie star. They were all so sweet & gracious, & beautiful. Patty, the instructor, is absolutely amazing & really knows her hair. Anyone needing to get their roots done, these are the gals to do it! After they were done, they styled my hair so cool & for everything they did, it was so inexpensive. I'm thinking about driving up here again, just to get my hair done!! Thanks to Judy, Johanna, & Jackie!
